Where or how do you reset the check engine light on 96 geo tracker?

As this is a 96 model, it can be either a OBD1 or OBD2 system. If it is a 1 system, removing the battery cable for 5 minutes will reset the light. If it is a 2 system, you will need a code reader to do this. Have the problem fixed as it may cause damage to parts such as the catalytic converter. maybe mine is different, but I seem to be able to reset it by removing the battery cable I think he means IF YOU WANT TO READ THE CODES, if you just want them gone, remove the battery cable mine is a 96 OBD2, by the way, all 96 is OBD2, he does have a good point about looking into why they are crying, but I think we all want to erase them, then see how long it is till they come back on, then maybe it's time to go to autozone and get them read for free

Your oil light on your 96' Geo Tracker keeps blinking off and on and the oil is full what could be wrong?

The oil light is comign on to tell you the oil pressure is low. It is not a gauge to tell you oil is low. Your oil pump may be going out and when it loses pressure it sets the light off. Or you could have engine wear to the place that the oil pressure is running low enough to set the warning light off. You may have a bad oil pressure sending unit as well setting off the light so I woul dcheck the oil sending unit first, maybe hook a gauge to it and see what for oil pressure you have and try to determine why your light is coming on.

AnswerIt's under the EGR modular. The EGR modular is on the top of the engine on the passangers side close to the fire wall and looks like a black hockey puck. Follow the very short vaccum line off of it to the EGR valve. 2 hoses run to the EGR switch and the bottom 1 runs to the EGR valve.

How do you change the tail light bulb in a '95 Geo Tracker?

This is easy. All you need is a Philips head screw driver. There are two screws at the bottom of the plastic lense. unscrew them and gently pull the entire assembly out. Then you can turn the bulb connectors on the inside to release the bulb and replace it. Sometime the connectors are tough or stuck, but they twist about 90 degrees and then release. Then reassemble.

Can you disconnect the daytime running lights on a 96 Geo Tracker if you can how do you?

== == == == Hi, First I like them and they help prevent accidents and I wonder if all these cars that are built in Canada have them by default because it's a Canadian law, well I'll come off my pulpit now that's said...I've been going over this schematic 'till my eyes hurt. It seems as if part of the brake circuit goes through the DRL controller so you can't deactivate it but you may be able to disconnect it from the headlights. There looks as if there are two wires that mat be able to be interrupted. There is a red/green and a red/white wire that come from the DRL controller that could be the key. I need to find this pesky thing first and try it myself but I may need to wait 'till Spring 'cuz it's snowy and I park outside. If you find it please let us all know. I have a feeling it's under the dash but I'll do some investigating. I'll go to a dealer and ask the service people and poke around for answers. Let's hope this helps. Here's an answer that I found. I hope it'll help. Can someone tell me which wire to cut to eliminate the day time running lights feature on my ?97 Tracker? I?m moving to a country that does not allow the use of headlights during daylight hours. (That?s my story and I?m sticking to it.) First off - you shouldn't cut the wires, in case you ever come back to this country and have to reactivate the DRLs. That said, this is how they are hooked on my ?96 Tracker. Behind the fuse box in the drivers footwell is the headlight relay with a big white connector with 2 rows of wires going into it. Pull that out (press in the tab to release it.) On the top row of wires is one that is a red wire with a black tracer and silver bands on it. Use an unbent paper clip - I used the point of my test light - to depress the tab holding it in, remove it from the connector and wrap it with electrical tape. You have now disconnected the DRLs. Now for that pesky dashboard light. Same connector, bottom row, is an orange wire with a white tracer. Detach and tape in the same manner. No more DRLs and no obnoxious little dashboard light either. Disclaimer - this worked on a '96 Tracker 2dr. Check local laws regarding disconnection of DRLs. Also be sure the wires are taped off with electrical tape so as to not cause a short circuit or fire. Legal disclaimer - I accept no responsibility for any consequences resulting from this action, and other standard legal BS. --Cory J. Brown '96 Geo Tracker

94tracker stalled No spark from coilReplaced coil still no spark Wiggled wire to module on distributor Started then stalled No spark again on coil Is it module or something else?

Hi, The first thing I'd do is replace the wire, you probably can't get just the single wire so replace the set then try again. On the firewall there's this thing that all my books call the igniter, if the wires don't do it but I think they will, then go to a local auto recycler (junkyard that sells parts) and get the other part. Hope this helps. Steve H.
