It could be the battery, or it could be the alternator! I had this problem with 2 vehicles I had! It will keep trying to turn over, but, if the alternator is bad, it will just keep draining the juice from your battery.Have a mechanic check how many amps the alternator is putting out. If weak it needs to be replaced. Loren J.
How do you remove the decals from your Geo Tracker?
Not the easiest thing to do, If they were new you could just peel them off but as they get old the adhesive becomes really hard to get off. Use a heat gun or blow drier to heat up the sticker ( not too close or too hot as you can damage the paint ) and when it is soft start peeling it back always moving the heat ahead of yourself. Lots of times there will be adhesive left behind on the paint after you are done so use some nail polish remover or some other solvent to rub the adhesive off ( it may take a little elbow grease ). Then wash and wax the area.
Where is the crank position sensor on a 1997 Geo Tracker?
Hi, The CKP ( Crankshaft Position Sensor ) is located on the front flange of the oil pan and consists of a signal generator (pick-up coil and magnet) and signal rotor (on the crankshaft timing belt sprocket). Hope this helps. Steve H.
my 1990 tracker has that exact same problem, what it is a a problem Geo has with its seals, what causes it is a the seal around first gear shrinks and keeps it from shifting and the cold makes it worse what you need is to have the transmission rebuilt, but if you cant afford that i would go to your local auto parts store and buy some transmission swell and seal. what it is is and additive that you add to your transmission fluid and it softens and swells the seal for better sealing.
How do you fix a stripped spark plug hole on a 96 geo tracker?
Repair kit availale at most auto parts stores
How do you install a thermostat on a 1996 Geo Tracker?
HI, I'l give it to you by the book. Drain the coolant so it's below the level of tyher thermostat. If you need to, you can remove the top radiator hose from the thermostat housing, of course check the hose and if it's mushy, then change it too, now is also a good time to check the lower radiator hose and if it's mushy then drain the coolant all the way and change it too better now than later. Remove the thermostat housing bolts then lift the housing off of the intake manifold. Remove and discard the old gasket. grasp the thermostat and lift it out of the intake manifold. Thoroughly clean both mating surfaces of the thermostat and intake manifold so there is nothing on the surfaces at all. Put the thermostat in with the spring side down. Put a new gasket on the thermostatthen put the thermostat housing back on, install the bolts and tighten evenly. Put the hose back on if needed. Then refill with new coolant. Start the engine and check for leaks and insure the proper amount of coolant has been added. There is one thing to think about, why not think about having it done and flush the cooling system at the same time, it's just a thought. Good luck and don't forget to catch all the fluid as it comes out. Steve H.
yes the 94 tracker hardtop will fit the 93 tracker, they are interchangeable from 1989 to 1998 you also can put a hardtop on a tracker that has a soft top(take soft top off first)
Can you tow a 1994 Geo Tracker 2WD?
No, it as a design feature that Geo incorperated into its design. The only way to move it is either on its own power or with black magic...Not the tire shine, actual Abra ca-dabra stuff. Good luck.
one of ur sensers are bad. i would look at the idle air sensor or coolant tempuratur sensor
What kind of transmission fluid do i put in my 93 Geo Tracker?
Hi, Manual transmission would be hypoid gear oil 80W-90 if the temps never go below 0 degrees or can be always 75W-85 or 75W-90 if the temps will go below o degrees in your area. Automatic transmissions use Dexron lll Automatic Transmission fluid. Do Not use Type-F or Hypoid Gear Oil. I hope this clears this up for you and is timely for you. Steve H..
95 geo tracker won't start turn key hear click but nothing else?
Your battery is dead, OR your starter relay is worn out. Your starting amperage is not high enough to turn your engine over. This does not guarantee that your battery is dead however. Get a battery post cleaner and clean the contacts for the batt. Could be built up corrosion from the battery acid. This causes a high resistance, which allows voltage to pass, but not amperage. therefore casing your car to display symptoms of a dead battery. You must remove them from the battery (starting with the black negative terminal) and fully clean them up. Once they are clean, re install them (starting with the red positive terminal) and coat them with white lithium grease to prevent them from corroding again. Try charging the battery, or getting a jump start.

How do you install a fan belt into a 1994 Geo Tracker?
On the 8 valve models (most 94's, except California models) it is simple, according to the number and size of belts, it varies a bit.. in general: A normal 8 valve 1.6 with power steering, NO Air Conditioning. You will have two belts on this model. The Power Steering to Crank Pulley belt, and the Alternator to Fan to Crank Pulley belt.. I am assuming that is the one you need, as it is the one that actually drives the fan. This belt is closest to the engine, so you have to remove any belt that is further from the engine first, in this case the Power Steering belt. To do that, you must loosen TWO 12mm Bolts. One is on top and easy to see, you will need a box end wrench, as most socket and ratchets won't clear the oil filter. Loosen that bolt a couple of turns, don't remove it, it is just the pivot bolt for the adjustment of the power steering pump. The other bolt is on the bottom of the pump, accessible through a hole in the power steering belt pulley, just turn the pulley until the hold lines up with the 12mm bolt. Use a socket, with a short extension. Loosen this a couple of turns. Now you should be able to move the pump towards the engine, loosening the belt for removal. Once that belt is out of the way (may vary if you have AC, or don't have Power Steering) you move on to the fan/alt belt. Once again, two 12mm bolts hold the alternator in position. One is accessible from the top, it's behind the alternator and is fairly easy to get a socket and ratchet on. loosen it a couple of turns. The second is under the alternator, and it is easily reached lying under the front of the car, you don't even need to jack it up. Again, socket and ratchet work fine here. After loosening the alternator you have to remove the belts from the pulleys, and then kinda work it around the fan, blade by blade till it's off. Work the new fan belt (or whatever belt is closest to the engine) around the fan and onto the correct pulleys. Tighten the bolts both upper and lower just a little, wo where you can JUST barely move the alternator through its adjustment, then, working from above, put your ratchet/socket on the bolt behind the alternator and be ready to tighten, with an appropriate prying device *be careful to not damage aluminum housing or nearby components* apply pressure to hold the alternator tight, also making the belt tight. With the other hand, tighten the top bolt. Tighten the bottom bolt from underneath and test to see that the belt is quite taut. If not, retigten, after 100 miles or so, check it again, as these type belts do wear into the pulleys, and get a little looser over time. Replace the other belt/s at the same time, reversing the process. The bolt that you access through the pulley is the one that you will tighten as you hold tension on the power steering pump. Once again, tighten that one first to hold the adjustment, then tighten the upper bolt last. Recheck all belts for tightness.. Get all the tools out from under the hood.. stand back, and test start and run the engine, watching to make sure you put everything back correctly. You are done.. enjoy your Tracker!!

What is largest with 15 in rims and tires of stock diamater can you use on a 1994 Geo Tracker?
On our 1993 Geo Tracker, we have the stock 15 inch rims on it and we just put 235 70 r 15's on it and they work great, don't rub anywhere, and i think that's probably the biggest you'll be puttin on a tracker unless you raise it.
96 Geo Tracker 4x4 will shift to 4x4 but front wheels not engaged?
I had the same problem with my 91 Geo Tracker manual hubs...my hubs were siezed up inside. We pulled the hubs off (simple procedure) and found that the *sliding outer gear was frozen solid (rusted), so the man. hubs wouldn't engage when turned to lock position. We slid out the outer gear, and cleaned it up a little. (doesn't require grease). Had to reattach the end of the coiled spring to the inside grove of the outer gear (little tricky), and remounted the hubs on the outer axle and it works fine.
Will a suzuki sidekick air conditioner fit in a suzuki samurai?
No, the compressor mounts and the dash mounted evaporator are different. It might be able to be adapted with a great deal of work but the power in a Samurai will suffer severely. We are talking downshift to third gear on overpasses!
I am working on that exact conversion. Will it fit? It depends on exactly what you mean, it is not an exact fit and will not just bolt together.
The compressor mounts are different. They can be modified to fit though with drilling and welding.
The inside evaporator discharges in the same general area but some sort of adapter will be required. It's mounts are slightly different.
Use this documentation to decide for yourself:
http://www.suzukiinfo.com/sierra/samuraiacinstall.pdf
It is a nice AC install manual for the '92 Suzuki, very informative and shows the complete installation in great detail.
Generally, I would say it will fit with a gross helping of interpretation, good luck.
check for blown fuse in fuse box Hi, The unit should have a relay and it sounds as if it gets stuck when hot or a fuse blows. You don't mention if the air works after a while sitting or if you changed a fuse. The compressor could also have become inoperastive, this can happen when not used for a while and the seals dry out and the compressor stops working but I don't think that has happened because if the compressor freezes the pulley would stop and the belt would burn so I need to look for a relay, and I don't have air but I'll keep looking. I hope some of this helps. Steve H.
How do you replace the AC compressor on a Chevy Tracker 2001?
You will need to remove all of the Freon from your air conditioning system. Remove the air conditioning hoses. Remove the compressor belt. Remove the compressor retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new air conditioner compressor.

How do you change the lighter socket in a 1997 Geo Tracker?
there are 2 screws hidden under where your ash tray is. remove the ashtray and you will see them underneath. after removing, the rest is just snapped on. Give a couple good pulls starting from bottom to top and it will expose your lighter. Unsnap your power from the backside, and unscrew the nut on the backside of the socket as well
change the headlight switch !
