Hi, I have these numbers; 1.3L engine 42-47 ft lbs (57-65 Nm) 1.6L engine 58 ft lbs (78 Nm) 1.8L engine 51 ft lbs (70 Nm) While holding the flywheel with a holding tool tighten the bolts (put a small amount of Loctite 414 or similar on the bolts first apply the Loctite on the end of the bolt that way when you tighten the bolt, the Loctite will work its' way up the threads) finger tight first then in a crisscross pattern. 12 o'clock, 6 o'clock, 1 o'clock, 7 o'clock, 5 o'clock, 10 o'clock, these are the bolt positions. hi, My owner's manual says: Short Trip 60,000 miles Long Trip 60,000 miles So no matter what the driving cycle is, it's every 60,000 miles. I think I better check mine too. I just saw one on E-Bay for about $30.00 and that includes the belt and the gear. Hope this helps. Steve H.

Ok man! this is very simple and you CAN NOT mess up the engine if the timing is off cause the valves don't interfere with the pistons.

what your gonna wanna do is find a indent or center punch or anything like that on the top gear. Then your gonna wanna take the pulley off from the drive shaft and you should see a key way use that key way as a guide. get both the key way and the divit lined straight up as best you can, and put the belt on. try it out and you should be good! if its close try moving the belt in either direction about a tooth or so depending on how far off it is. if it doesn't work let me know Ive done a few Ill get yah rolling!

This is usually accomplished by either forgetting to refil the crankcase after an oil change, or by running the engine out of oil by not routinely checking the oil level, and adding the appropriate amount when it's running low. It is also possible to seize an engine by overheating it.

Hi, The fuel pump is in the gas tank. You need to raise the car high enough to lower the fuel tank and lift the pump out, typically that means on a lift. It's not a fun task. I'd try a junk yard ( recycling center) and see if they have one, I just looked at the prices, not fun. While you have the tank down, check the two wires that go to the fuel gauge sender, they're pretty well exposed and I'd put some RTV on them to protect them from breaking. I had to change the fuel gauge because the two wires were broken right where I wasn't able to repair them. I found one at a junk yard for about $15.00. That's why that warning. Well good luck. start with the passenger side open bleeder screw, press pedal, close bleeder screw. repeat till all air is out of the system.

Trunk ANSWER: And after you realize that the Tracker doesn't have a trunk, it's under the passenger seat.

This type of 4X4 needs to be either in neutral or in park before you change over to 4x4 high or low. IT might be a little difficult at first. depending if you want it on 4 low, just slide up from the 4 high when car is in neutral. it is the 1st slide up from 2 low. But if you want in 4 high (usualy for snow, mud,etc.) then you will need to go up to 4 low then pull a little to the left then go up to either 2 or 4 high. The light should go on where the dash is and it should fell higher while your in the car.

Hi, Fan belt squeal is typiclly a belt is old and getting worn which gets a bit hard and less pliable and begins to slip some creating the squeal, you also need to see if the belt is loose which also can cause squeal, if it's loose then tighten it if it's ok and squealing the the rest applies. You can add a belt dressing on the groved side of the belt but ultimately you should replace the belt, we used to get extra days out of belts on farm equipment by adding belt dressing but that was only so we could run until we could replace the belt. This goes back more than 50 years of this stuff. Good luck. Steve H

The 1996 Geo Tracker 1.6 liter engine timing marks can be found on the outside of the main pulley. The timing marks will be scattered around the pulley.

If it's noise coming from your fan belt, than try this cause BELIEVE me it works!! Doesn't matter if you are a woman either.. cause I am...:-} Turn your car off - make sure it's cooled down Get a standard bar of washing soap (eg. Dove, Irish Spring... doesn't matter) Locate the fan belt Firmly rub soap along the under-side of the fan belt...just a little on one area will do since it will spread when turned on Try driving your car now... did it work? You may have to get the belt checked, but this will take the squeal away for a bit anyway, and it won't hurt the car! If it worked, gimme a trust point! Thanks

Engines SHOULD idle a little faster during startup, but if it's always idling fast, check for vacuum leaks. Make sure the EGR valve isn't leaking as well.

All brands of steering fluid are pretty much made the same. Check your automobile's manual to see if there is a certain type of steering fluid that can only be used. If not, then the brand does not matter.

Yes, If the Geo Tracker is equipped with 4x4 the the transfer case shifter will have a selection for 4 wheel drive Low range or 4 low as you say it.

Hi, Your data link connector should be about knee level to the right of the steering column, it looks like a small conector with about fifteen holes in it. The OBD-ll scanner gets plugged in right there. I hope this is timely for you. Good luck. Steve H.
