How do you replace the timing belton a 1995 Geo Tracker?

Remove the radiator and the clutch fan , Then remove the belts .You will have to loosen Alternator and the A/C compressor to do this . On the crank pulley there is 5 small bolts (8mm) around the inside of the pulley. Take them out . Then remove the pulley . Take the bolts out of the Timing cover and remove it . Under it you will find the Timing belt . It has a Tenisioner that has to be loosened . FIRST if possible align the timing marks . before removing the belt . This can be done by turning the large bolt that is in the end of the crank. . But if the belt is broken or damaged . Align the bottom pulley key way with the mark on the oil pump 12:00. . and the top pulley with the notch in the metal plate that is behind the top pulley . 12:00 . Install the belt. Then tighten the tensioner. reassemble in reverse order

Location of ac relay 1996 Geo Tracker?

Hi, The reloay for the AC is or should be, located undert the hood in front of the battery and should be a 25 A but all I read is a fuse not a relay. If there is a relay, it should be under the hood also, try the location in front of the battery. I hope the weather hasn't gotyen so warm that you need it yet, we almost still need the heater on here as a matter of fact I use the heater at night. I hope this was timely for you and good luck. Should my 90 Geo Tracker be at 4000 RPM's at 70 mph?

its because it has a 3-speed trany, there is a overdrive trany that is a 4-speed but there kinda hard to find.

My 90 Geo Tracker is the same. I believe what is probably going on is- it's a 4x4 with a low end tranny. It's not meant for speed.

What is a fuel inertia switch?

A fuel inetia switch is a safety device that cuts the power off to the fuel pump circuit in case of a crash or very rough ride such as running off of the road. They are mostly found in Ford automobiles and located in the trunk. You can reset them by pushing in on a red reset button. sometimes they are a little hard to locate ,you may have to open compartment doors or take a small piece of trunk liner out to get to them.

What is the widest tire you can put on a Geo Tracker?

I have 13.5 inch wide tires with Toyota axles under my truck. When I was running stock running gear i ran 31x10.5 wide but I've seen people run 33x12.5 but I don't recommend it, unless you like repairing differentials.

How do you replace the speakers in a 1997 Geo Tracker?

If it's the front speakers, then it's a simple operation. The grills need to be poppoed off, a screwdriver at the edge and lift up, then the speaker is held in by one Philips head scew (don't lose the small clip the screw goes into) and the speaker lifts and the harness is unplugged. Replacement is simply the reverse. The rear speakers are a bit trickier. The front seatbelt bezel needs to be moved out of the way. The side panel needs to be removed, there are panel removal tols but if you're real careful, youcan gentl and carefullt remove the panel by prying it off from the side and disengaging the panel clips, then it's just a matter of removing the speaker screws and removing the speaker, unplugging the harness. Replacing is the reverse except if you want to put larger speakers in. If larger ones are needed then you might need to cut the fiberboard and use a larger trim ring but if it's metal then I'd just simply replace with a 4 inch speaker. With all the speakers, you probably need to remove the factory harness end and either hard solder the new one in or get a plug and socket from an electronics store and use those for the harness Now a good stereo to with it all...hmmmmm. All of this supposes a bit of mechanical and minor electrical ability.

What cause the brakes to stick on a Geo Tracker?

Depends. If It Is Front Brakes, They May Have A Hose Collasped Over Time The Rubber Hoses Will Deterate On The Inside Not Allowing The Brake Fluid To Return To The Master Cylinder, Causing The Brakes To Stick. If You Have A Sticking Caliper Most Likely The Hose Is Bad. When Doing A Brake Job It Is Always A Good Idea To Replace The Front Hoses. Make sure the area where the pads rest on the caliper is free of any rust as they must be able to slide freely back and forth as the brakes are applied and let off.If rust builds up they will stick and drag. Also make sure the sliders move freely. I found that when i did the front brakes on my 89 tracker there was rust under the stainless clips which was binding up the pads. Clean under there. Before you reinstall the caliper over the pads try to move the pads in the clips they should move freely.

What would cause a vibration in the rear of your geo tracker from 40-55 mph?

A few things can cause vibration. loose body panel, an out of balance tire, alignment of the tire, a brake caliper / pad problem and a rear differential issue. How bad is the vibration?

had that same problem you might want to check your rear driveshaft for play and make sure it is not bent in any way.

Approximatly how much should it cost to replace a bad ignition cylinder on a 93 Geo Tracker?

There is an ignition lock cylinder forsale on Ebay right now that will fit. The average price is between 120.00 and 200.00. I am going to pull the part my self at a local junk yard. The part will cost less than 5.00. However you will need some specailized tools such as a steering wheel puller ,torx bit screw drivers, large sockets, breaker bar, hammer, punch and needle nose pliers. The job itself is relatively easy except for breaking the heads off the two screws that hold on the lock cylinder.

Where are the fuel filters on a 95 tracker?

Where is the fuel pump on a 1993 Geo Tracker?

Hi, If you have an engine with a carb, yhen your job is pretty simple since the pump is on the cylinder head. The pump is mounted with two bolts. Before you remove the pump, you need to disconnect the neg batt cable, next, remove the gas cap, next remove the hoses from the pump and drain the excess fuel from the hoses. When you remove the pump and remove the pump actuating rod you need to clean the pump gasket completely from the cylinder head. When you replace the pump, just reverse the steps you took except for draining the hoses, mak sure you coat the fuel pump actuatin rod with new oil as it rides on the cam, , now you need to ccharge the hoses with fuel. You need to have someone turn the engine over, with the neg batt cable still disconnected, until gas comes from the hose, then reconnect the hoses. If your car is fuel injected the situation is different. In a fuel injected car, whether the car is Throtle body Fuel Injection or Multipoint Fuel Injection, the fuel pump is in the gas tank. To change that is another ball game. As before you disconnect the battery. You're going to need to raise the car in order to do finish the job too. If taking the gas tank and disconnecting everything is above your level or something you just don't have the facilities to do it in, then I'd have it done. The gas level float is another place our cars are subject to a failure. the two wires that are on the sender are exposed to all the elements and can break easily. If you have the pump repaired or do it, you should do what I did which is put some RTV that is going to stand up to everything and surround the wires and the connections so they won't break because if they do, then you have to lower the gas tank again, kill two birds with one stone. Good luck and I hope this is timely for you and helps. Steve H.

Does a 1994 1.6 liter Geo Tracker have a carb or is it fuel injected?

Geo Tracker that the gas gauge that doesdn't register how can I find out if it is the gauge or sending unit from the tank?

Hi, I'll relate my experience with the same issue. I checked the instrument panel, if one of the instruments on the same side were working the the other was ok. I looked at the gas tank from the side while under the car and I saw that one wire on the sender was broken right at the sender unfortunately not fixable. I had it replaced. I went to a junk yard and found one still in a gas tank, it was good. When I had the senders wires in a real good exterior caulking to make sure they weren't going to break again because the design places the wires where they're subjected to the elements all the time. I hope this helps you. Good luck. Steve H.

Your 97 Geo Tracker starts when cold but dies at idle when hot you've cleaned the throttle body and replaced the PCV but it still dies but not as often the check engine light is on with code 135?

P0135 error code refers to the HO2S, Heated oxygen sensor. It is located on the exhast manifold and has a wire from it toward the fire wall near the brake master cylinder. there is a wire connector that can be unpluged and spliced to the new O2 sensor wire pigtail. this may solve the performance prob. Other things to check are vaccum leaks and EGR problems.
