How do you turn off brake lite on a 1994 Geo Tracker?

Hello my 94 geo has been setting a while with the e-brake on. i worked the handle back and forth awhile and then the car was still dragging like the brakes were just a little bit on. i kept pulling the handle up and down throughout the day, finally light went off. if they are really stuck bad you may have to replace your e-brake cable. this may be your problem but im not sure. have a great day.

I changed the thermostat and put a new radiator cap on a 1996 Geo Tracker. Now there is white smoke coming out the exhaust. Could it be the fuel pressure regulator is bad?

no its a blown head gasket, the white smoke your seeing is steam cause the the water leaking in to the combustion camber. if the smoke was black then that would mean to much fuel. if the smoke was blue that would mean there was oil getting in to the combustion camber.

Why wont a 1991 geo tracker start after replacing spark plugs wires distributor cap?

Did you check the Distributor cap chances are either that is on backwards or a fuse went out within the ignition system. I have seen fuses blow during replacing these items do to arcing the system but it is not proven but check the firing sequence of the distributor cap usually there is a number 1 on the first cylinder and from there you have to look more into depth on how the firing order according to the cylinders is arranged on the distributor itself hope this will help

What lug nut pattern will fit a 1995 Geo Tracker?

Wheel bolt pattern is 5 on 5 & 1/2. Same as the earlier Ford pickups. The center hole in the tracker wheel is larger then the Ford pick up wheel. A lot of after market wheels for the ford pick up have a large enough center hole so it will bolt on but the off set of the wheel makes the stick out more then the tracker wheels do

How do you replace thermostat on 1995 Geo Tracker?

You don't technically have to FULLY drain the radiator, some say its easier but for me its just more anti-freeze to buy. First drain the radiator so you have around 3-4inches gone from the top, this is so when you take the thermostat housing off it water doesn't flow everywhere.

Next unbolt the thermstat housing and the pipe that connects it, set the metal hosing aside and remove the thermostat. Make sure all area's are clean of old gasket beforehand, as even a small piece can cause some problems regarding leakage. Next is place the thermostat into the hole that you removed the old one from, be sure that the pressure relief (small brass tab on the thermostat) is facing the engine, then replace with new gasket/seals and bolt the housing back into place along with radiator pipes.

Fill radiator with anti-freeze (you won't use much if you didn't full drain the radiator, and after that you're good to go.

Will 1994 Geo Tracker parts fit 1996 Geo Tracker?

well that is the most complex answer ever asked, ( ask your wrecking yard that.

they have a vastly expensive data base that does that. )

but they had 2 motors .

so you can not mix motors or EFI parts of same ,nor harnesses.

i will not even answer body parts because you can just look that up on any body shop page. surely.

so i will answer the hard driveline and EFI parts.

yes and no.

yes:

blocks are same

heads are different (if 8v .16v)

crank same 1.6L

pistons different. 8v to 16v)

96 has no 8v so you crossed in to gen 2 cars from gen 3 so makes answer real hard.

diffr head if different.

vastly different ecu.

differ mounts.

diffr crosssmembers.

but you can move a 1.6L 16v 94 block to a 1995 car

if you swap the pan and oil pump and keep your ckp sensor on your, pump.

ecu's vary by a vast number of things, even California types.

How to replace the valve cover gasket on a 1994 tracker and what do you need to remove?

Hi, Whether you have a 1.3 or a 1.6 engine these are about the same way for both; There may be some various pieces to remove if they get in the way. I foud a couple of little thingss I removed that made the job easier. It's not a hard job just a bit tedious and when you're done, you won't leak oil from there any more, just be careful and pay attention to what you do. Have clean rags and clean things to put the bolts in. VERY IMPORTANT Make sure you also buy Anti Sieze compound to put on ALL the bolts when you replace them wherever they are. If yopu can afford it, it's a good time to replace the spark plug wires if they look old. Disconnect the neg batt cable (remember, all your radio settings are kaput) Remove the air inlet hose, it helps for clearance issues (hopefully your air cleaner housing cover come off easily and why not change your air filter too. Detach the PCV valve hose (in the rocker arm{valve} cover) Remove the spark plug wires (mark them) and be careful not to twist them, just pull straight up. Remove the accelerator cable and the kickdown cable if it's an automatic. Loosen all the cover hold down bolts and remove them. The rear two can be quite a pain and a headache. I purchased a short socket to remove the one by the distributor. Remove the rocker arm ( valve ) cover. Remove the old gasket and the O rings that are for the 1.6 engine. Clean all the surfaces before installing the new cover and gaskets and O rings, if necessary. Make sure you gasket sealer on the surface when you replace the gasket, the small tube they (might) give you when you buy the gasket isn't really ample. If you have O rings make sure you use gasket sealer around them too. I thought this was a perfect time to replace the spark plugs too while this much was removed. On the 1.6 engine you need to have a thin wall spark plug socket as the plugs are in a deep well. The spark plug wires are a pain in ths engine, especially if they break, if they do, you need a long nose pliers or a long pair of tweezers to get the piece that stays in the hole. Put everything back together the way you removed them. I hope this helps and god luck with your job. Steve H. shandmal@comcast.net If you need help!

What the the timing marks on the cam and crank on a 1998 Chevy Geo Metro 1.3L?

If you're wanting to set the timing on your car, there's a notch in the pulley on the harmonic balancer and a timing tab on the timing cover. Check your label under the hood for the proper setting. If you're replacing the timing belt, you must have #1 cylinder at top dead position on the compression stroke. You have a timing mark on the cam sprocket that must line up with the v notch on the cam seal cover. Your lower sprocket has a mark that must line up with the mark on the front cover. Buy a Haynes repair manual. They have excellent pictures of these marks and how they must line up.

How do you remove the entire headlights from a 1995 Geo Tracker?

Hi, After going outside and looking at my car, it looks like you first need to remove the grille assy.. After the grill is removed, there must be bolts or screws that would remove the entire assy.. I'm also wondering whether the aiming sccrews screws can be left in place or are they the screws that would need to be removed. In any cas, the first part is the grill. I hope someone will post a more complete answer as any of us that gets one broken will need to replace it. Good luck and any solutions from any one else please? Thanks, Steve H.
