Where is the clutch ignition switch located on 1990 geo tracker?

Will a Geo tracker 16 valve engine block from a 94 or 96 fit in a 92 Geo tracker Which has an 8 valve engine both are 1dot6 L I think?

It will bolt up. You can not install a 8 valve head on a 16 valve lower end without changing the pistons. The injection is completely different and wireing as well as well the computer. I just completed the swap with ALOT of headaches. believe it or not LOL we used a router with a mill bit to cut down the pistons talk about okie but hey its running perfect now 2000 miles later. my advise is keep the 8 valve head with the car change the pistons and use ALL the brackets off the 8 valve engine.

Where is the IAT sensor on A 1996 Geo Tracker?

How do you disconnect the daytime running lights on a 1997 Geo Tracker?

2 options: 1) long term solution (copied from the answer to the question for a '96 Geo Tracker) Behind the fuse box in the drivers footwell is the headlight relay with a big white connector with 2 rows of wires going into it. Pull that out (press in the tab to release it.) On the top row of wires is one that is a red wire with a black tracer and silver bands on it. Use an unbent paper clip - I used the point of my test light - to depress the tab holding it in, remove it from the connector and wrap it with electrical tape. You have now disconnected the DRLs. Now for that pesky dashboard light. Same connector, bottom row, is an orange wire with a white tracer. Detach and tape in the same manner. No more DRLs and no obnoxious little dashboard light either. Disclaimer - this worked on a '96 Tracker 2dr. Check local laws regarding disconnection of DRLs. Also be sure the wires are taped off with electrical tape so as to not cause a short circuit or fire. Legal disclaimer - I accept no responsibility for any consequences resulting from this action, and other standard legal BS. and 2) short term solution ( for say hunting when there is enough light to see to drive and you don't want to draw attention to yourself )is to lift the parking brake one notch which doesn't drag or wear the rear parking brakes. Your 94 tracker has a vibration at 50mph that seems to come from the drivetrain when let off the acceleerator it stops but returns when you push back on the accelerator?

You probably have a universal joint going out. When pressure is applied by giving it gas the universal stays tight but when you leave off there is probably some play in it. When you take the driveshaft off to check the universals have the shop check the balance of the driveshaft. Weights are added when driveshafts are made to balance them in some cases the weights get knocked off but that is rare. Most likely a universal and it's not too expensive to replace and they do wear out.

1994 geo tracker air conditioner pump bearings keeps on squealing?

Either the pump bearings are bad or the ac clutch is going bad. The clutch can be replaced but the pump bearings are not generally cost effective to change.

Are there any websites that have wiring diagrams for a 1994 Geo Tracker?

There are some wiring diagrams on the chilton book(66500)I havent seen it on line

Also, try http://www.ahdol.com/ I just bought a complete diagram from them and was pleased (also for 94 tracker)

Why would a 1995 geo tracker quit going down the road has new fuel pump but keeps blowing fuses?

Did you replace any of the wires to the new pump? They may not be 'heavy' enough for the load of your pump, thus burning fuses. Or alternatively, are you running a pump that requires a higher amp draw? I'd check both the wires and the pump specs.

1989 Chevy Geo Tracker 4x4 Manual Engine Problem?

I have a 1989 Chevy/Geo Tracker (Manual) and recently ive been having a problem. It is a old beat up 4x4 I use as a snow plow, and recently when I have been startingit it would idle at around 2000-2500 RPM then after 5 or so minutes it would slowly idle back down to 1000RPM. Ive done some research and I thought it was the engine just wanting to heat itself up faster, but its a old vehicle so I don't think they do that? Please let me know!

Older vehicles do that. On a cold start there is a fast idle and then temp sensor on engine tells ecu when to bring it down -as long as idle stays stable once it is warm byt 1k sounds a little on the high side unless a 4 cyl, but I don't know that particular engine

How much oil does the Geo Tracker hold?

4 quarts with original filter

4.3 if installing a fresh oil filter

1995 Geo Tracker won't start No spark The battery is ok changed the ignition coil the fuses are ok but still no spark?

ECM the computer can be the problem if no start and even when truck will start but is inconsistant at starting and stalling.

If the ECM has not been changed in 5 to 6 years then it is likely due.

Any moisture problems on the drivers floor will likely increase the odds of it being the computer. Joe

What is the torque setting for spark plugs on a 1997 Geo Tracker?

Why would the horn on a '91 Tracker only work if the ignition is off?

I have a 1991 Geo Tracker 4x4 with the exact same problem. I'm a hardcore 4x4 Tracker/Sidekick enthusiast and also a seasoned mechanic, and have never heard of this quirk on any other Tracker model year. I possess both the Factory GEO Service Manuals and an aftermarket Haynes manual which contain fully detailed electrical schematics. (NOTE: The Haynes manual sucks, cause it's a combo Samurai/Sidekick/Tracker manual that seems to mostly cover the Samurai, even though that model is a totally different breed) I am in the process of tracking down the glitch, and will post my findings as soon as I discover and perform the repair. What causes erattic power especially when cold under avg to light throttle load has new cap rotor plugs?

Hi, Since youv'e replaced your cap and rotor you also might look at your wires. They could have one cracked because when cold there could be some moisture that gets in and when the engine has run a while and the wires are warm the moisture is eliminated. You could have also broken a wire slightly when you replaced the cap, also did you remember to put the dielectric grease in the wire ends before you put them back on the cap and is the coil wire on securely? Those are what I would look for first. Good luck to you.

Will a 89 Geo Tracker engine fit into a 91 Geo Storm?

YES, IT WILL IT WILL FIT IN THERE PERFECTLY WITH NO PROBLEMS AT ALL! I HAVE BEEN CHANGING GEO ENGINES FOR 25 YEARS I HAVE PUT A 89 GEO TRACKER ENGINE INTO 91 GEO STORMS LOTS OF TIMES. WHEN CHANGING ENGINES ALWAYS CHECK YOUR MUFFLER BELTS AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE PLENTY OF OIL, TRANSMISSION FLUID, BLINKER FLUID, AND REAR END OIL. ALWAYS CHECK YOUR SEALS ALSO.
