Why when I turn on the headlights of my 90 mark 7 the fuel gauge and tach stop working?

Its a bad ground, but its easy to fix. By the fuse block/hood open latch (in side the car) there is a bundle of wire, find the light blue wire, cut it and connect each end to the car body. I did mine and it works. But quarter tank is now empty, rpm guage is fine... Hey check out www.lincolnsonline.com and go to the tech part, and see "dash ground fix" that's how i learned this very helpfull tip.

How do you reset the tire pressure indicator light on a 2006 Grand Prix GT?

First of all, I'm sorry the previous person had the nerve to call you a "moron" and not even spell the insult correctly, how ironic. Obviously this person is not the owner of a 2004 grand prix or does not even know how to operate their own.

Before re-setting the tire pressure, make sure you have corrected the problem causing the warning. The warning message appears if the pressure in one tire becomes 12 psi lower than the other three tires. Your car will "learn" the pressure at each tire every time you reset the system. This takes 45-90 minutes of driving per the operating manual. This does not have to be accumulated in one single trip either.

To reset the tire pressure monitor system, after correcting the problem, you have to use the options under the Driver Information Center (DIC) on your dash. The button you want to utilize is called the "set/reset" button, it is the third button from the left, directly in the middle of all the buttons. It has an arrow that points to the left. Press and hold the button until the DIC displays "Tire Inflation Has Been Set", this message confirms the tire pressure system has been reset. If, by chance, the DIC does not return to the standard display with the date, ect., you can press the "options" button to get back to the standard display. The "options" button is directly to the right of the "set/reset" button you just got done using. It has a lower case "i" on it.

I hope this answer helps you, and good luck!!!

Where is the fuse for the washer fluid pump in a 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix?

I believe it is fused with your wipers. If the pump is not working make sure that it is not iced up by the pump and that the wire connector is attached to the pump. My wifes car quit because of just a little ice build-up. I hope this helps you. Mark

2003 Pontiac Grand Prix - turned on the blower motor and it started clunking really loudly does it sound like a bearing and the motor is kaput?

FYi,

I own a 2003 grand am and have the same problem, my blower motor works on all speeds so it is not the overpriced blower relay. Based on past experiences with Pontiacs the blower motor is going bad. I owned a 1969 Firebird with 100,000 miles and the blower motor had to be replaced at 100,000 miles, this 2003 Grand Am has 70,000 miles and the motor is already going bad. I have already had to replace my rotors as they were bad at 55,000 miles, the head gasket is already leaking, I have already had to replace the ignition switch as it went bad at 50,000 miles. What a overpriced piece of junk, this Pontiac Grand Am will be the last of my "Big 3" American automaker purchases. My best advice is to unload all 2003 Grand Ams you can before they end up costing 3 times the original purchase price in maintenance that is caused by poor workmanship and farming out production from American workers to 3rd world countries.

When letting off the brake pedal why would there be a knock or clunking noise?

Front brake shoes are sometimes attached to the calipers by "spring clips" and these can rust and break causing your pads to "float". Sometimes calipers get rusty or pitted on the hydraulic shaft and don't retrack smoothly when you let go of the brakes. This is more noticeable if the pads are well worn. The same happens with the rear shoes. If they are well worn, there is a lot of dust in the vicinity and it can foul your automatic adjusters so the shoes aren't close to the drums and you hear noises. If the noise can be localized to one wheel and the pads are OK, then you might need a new caliper.

How do you make a burglar alarm with light sensor?

get a flashlight or other focused beam of light and shine it across a walkway, and when the person breaks the beam of light the sensor stops sending a signal and a relay would switch over and that triggers the alarm....(a relay will change the circuit route) power on = one circuit path ...power off = a different circuit path

your car has one for the starter ..turn the key and it switches to path-1 routing massive power to the starter....key releases and starter stops = path-2 routing regular power to the car

The blower motor on my 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GT stayed running after I shut off the ignition then I restarted the car and it quit working altogther Is it the blower motor?

Your A/C drain plug is clogged causing water to leak into the blower motor which causes a short. To resolve jack up the car and properly support it using axle stands. Locate the black tube coming out of the firewall near the centre. Using a coat hanger insert into tube until there is resistance the wiggle back and forth until water starts to drip. On the inside of the passenger footwell remove the under dash cover remove the bolts on the blower motor and disconnect the wiring replace the blower motor and reinstall.

Do you have to remove the dash on a '99 Grand Prix to fix an evaporator core that is not draining and leaking water through the dash vents?

No. You need to find the drain hose from the evaporator case, and clear the blockage from the hose and/or the case drainpipe it attaches to. Usually fishing up the hose from underneath (outside) with a piece of wire will do.

There is no drain hose however, just a nipple type plug that has to be cleaned out. It is hard to get to but easy to do. Look on the passenger side firewall about 1/2 way up and you'll see it. It just pulls off and the water will flow out that is backed up. Replace it when you are done.

I had the same water leakage problem in my 2000 grand prix and they told me that it was that hose blocked off. I cleaned it and it still didn't help. It ended up being bad weather stripping on the black platic cowl that lays on the windshield under the wipers. I removed it and replaced the weather stripping and havent had a problem since.

I had this problem, and the shop manual is just about useless to get it fixed. There is a rubber elbow, about 3/4" in diameter and 1-1/2" proud, that is pressed on to a port on the firewall. Make sure the engine is cool, because you have to reach down behind the engine on the passenger side of the car, near the exhaust takedown. It's about halfway down the firewall. I couldn't actually see it, but I felt water on the engine underneath it. When I pulled it out, it had a chunk of lint in it, and it was trapped where the boot points downward. I celeaned it out and put it back. I had to feel on the firewall for the port (it's metal and sticks out about a 1/2" from the firewall), and just pressed it back on.

Where is the PCV valve located on a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix?

For pics and instructions for the Grand Prix GT check out.

.

"G"

I had the same problem, and after checking with the dealer twice, I finally found it. On the 3.8L engine, it is located under a sensor. Remove the plastic engine top cover (unscrew the oil cap and the cover easily pulls off). On the top left side (passenger) of the engine (just left of the top black center cover) is a sensor with with two wires (I think) that will twist off (half a turn to get it off). Twist off the sensor and the PCV valve is underneath.

How do take apart a grand prix dashboard?

In the older models (89 - 93) there are 2 screws right above the guage cluster and there are 2 more on either side of the steering wheel (one under the wiper switches and one under the headlight switches) remove those and then you must remove the glove box (4 screws inside it) and then reach your hand up and search for the bolt holding it down. After that is removed, the dash top should just slide right twards you. Pull it a little to release the clips at the back.

Is there a way to reset the horn on a 2000 Pontiac grand am gt?

there isn't really much to the horn. if it isn't working the first start by checking the fuse to see if it's blown. the easiest way is to first locate the fuse the swap it out with a spare the try the horn to see if it works. if this doesn't work then you can locate the actual horn inside the front bumper and try a new one. you can get them at V.I.P. for less than $10. if that still doesn't work the you can try and remove the cover on the steering wheel. the are two screws in the back of it. just be careful of the air bag and the wires going to it. check the pressure switch to see if it is contacting when you push the horn "button" in. sometime you have to bend them back a little. you can also slip the wires off and touch them together. if the horn sounds the this is your problem. good luck!

How do you repair a rear hub on a Pontiac Grand Prix?

Do you know what is specifically wrong with the hub. There isn't much to them other than they hold on the tire and have bearings to turn on the axle. If I needed one of these I would go to the salvage yard to find one. Check with car-part.com and it will search the salvage yards to find one for you. ..

Tom

the hubs on 97 + GP are unserviceable single unit that contains the wheel speed sensor these are a remove and replace unit only
