What is the effect of RAM on a desktop publishing packages?

RAM is the computer's 'volatile' memory. Data is rapidly transferred in and out of the RAM (Random Access Memory) all the time. When the computer is switched off, the RAM is empty.

Insufficient RAM capacity makes the computer run slower. Keyboard instructions take longer to have effect. Sometimes the screen freezes if things are getting really bad. More RAM, the easier and quicker it is for data to be processed by the PC.

If the RAM gets temporarily full with data being processed, the system has to take alternative action, maybe by using unused space on your hard drive. All this takes extra time. It is better to have sufficient RAM in the first place. Many computers now have at least 2 GB of RAM, but with software, especially graphics packages, becoming more and more sophisticated, 4GB of RAM will soon become the norm.

Find out how much RAM your PC has, and, if necessary, you can purchase RAM which can be slotted into your computer. It may not be too expensive. Enquire at a computer shop. Take your computer with you, if you can. It will help them determine the best type of RAM for your machine.

How to you present data graphically?

Your question is very broad. I've included a link which will give you some idea of the most common graphs. Also see suggestions below: The most common graph in published technical studies is the scatter point diagram, where each (x,y) point is plotted using Cartesian coordinates (X,Y). Sometimes, if there is more than one sets of data, we can use different markers for each data set. A bar chart is used often to make comparisons. An example would be the heights of boys and girls at different ages. A pie chart is less frequently used. If a common resource (let's say money in the bank) is to be used for different purposes, then a pie chart can show how this resource is divided. There are many more types of graphs. Fortunately, when we put data into spreadsheets we can easily change the type of graph.

What are the advantages of using computer software and machines connected to the computer to design and make products?

The main advantage is time. The software programs allow a designer to knock out a variety of ideas fairly quickly. Mock ups can be made from a print out and any needed cutting etc. The client can also see designs via email, and immediate feedback can speed the process along. Changes and edits are also much easier to make on a computer. Designers have not abandoned the sketch, that is still the best way to discover new ideas and develop a plan.

How do you convert a scanned Adobe document into JPG format for free and without hassle?

The professional version of Adobe Acrobat allows you to save as or export to a jpeg file. The free version of Acrobat Reader does not have this functionality. A work around may be to place or import the Adobe file into a word processing program and then save as or export the Word file as a jpeg. The document can also be re-scanned as a jpeg file for a third option. If the document has text I would not recommend a jpeg file for anything other than viewing on a monitor.

Why should web graphics be designed a 72 dpi?

Web graphics are not displayed at a higher resolution than 72 or 96 dpi. It is a good idea to design at a higher resolution in case you want a printed piece, then do a 'save as' and reduce the resolution for the web.

What is the color for Pantone PMS-802?

It's a bright green (see related link). The best way to see the color Pantone 802c is to look at a Pantone swatch book. Pantone is the industry standard to insure color consistency. The c stands for coated stock, the color will appear different on an uncoated stock and the Pantone number will have a u at the end. Most print shops and designers have Pantone swatch books. The related link, below, has a chart of equivalents for Pantone color numbers. Note that the C designation (or U) is not really part of the ink color. This is a designation as to how the ink looks when printed on Coated stock (or uncoated for U)

How do you convert CMYK colors to TPX pantone?

This is a complicated process. To begin, TPX in Pantone stands for Textile Paper Extended. These colors are meant for printing on fabric. When one has a CMYK image in Photoshop the colors can not just be converted. The only way to incorporate spot color (Pantone) into a rasterized CMYK image is as an extra plate, or spot color channel in Photoshop. One can also create a monotone, duotone or tritone from a CMYK image. To do this the image can not remain in CMYK mode. The process is much easier to do in a vector file. Using the eye dropper or color picker tool in Photoshop one can measure the amount of cyan, magenta, yellow and black in a specific area. Using the swatches palette open the appropriate Pantone library, find the desired color and measure the CMYK content in the same manner. This process will reveal the CMYK equivalent for that specific color.

Rgb cmyk hsl or pantone in a document?

If you're printing the image on your desktop printer, use RGB--those printers will convert anything else to RGB, then to CMYK. If you're printing it on a wide-format inkjet printer like a Roland, Mutoh or VUtek, or you're sending it to a printing plant to be printed on an offset or flexo press, use CMYK if you're not using spot colors, and Pantone for the spot colors.

If i go to graphic design summer school and choose major as graphic design in college what can i do then is there still stuff i can learn or just waste of time?

Do I understand you correctly?

You are thinking that going to a graphic design summer school might teach you all there is to know about graphic design - things that a sequence of years in college will only recapitulate.

Wow, you've got a lot to learn!

A summer school will give you a quick glance at just some of the things you need to know.

A college course will give you an in-depth look at some of the things you need to know.

What will be most important to your development as a graphic designer will be the time and work you put into the practical work of your college course..... an artist learns from their work more than they learn from books or other material or even people.

At best, a summer school might give you a chance to produce one or two half-decent designs.... anything else you do there will be immature, artless and about the same as anyone with a computer can produce at home.

A college course will give you time to deal with the area of ignorance you will discover within yourself when you come to tackle some of the assignments given to you.

As to the last phrase of your question ..... is there still stuff you can learn..... you will, if you are very lucky, grow old in graphic design and still be learning 'stuff'. No learning environment is ever a waste of time - grasp as many as you can and benefit from them.

In reality, this theory is an urban legend mostly known in the USA and considered an anecdote in Germany and most of the Europe. The central part of BMW logo has noting to do with any propellers, it is actually a fragment of the flag of Bavaria, which happens to be a simple blue-and-white chessboard-like pattern.

During the manufacture of tablets the thickness of tablets will depend on the force used to compress the powder. More force = Thinner more compact tablet, however a more compact tablet will take longer to disintegrate, dissolve and be absorbed by the body. That isn't to say softer, thicker tablets are better, as these will break too easily and might not survive the manufacture, packing, transport and use. A happy medium is more important.
