How can you tell Hawks apart?

If you mean how can you tell the different species apart, you have to learn/study the different types of hawks available in the world. Different species can be different sizes, different colors, and/or have different proportions (longer/shorter wings, longer/shorter tails, etc.). You just have to learn what to look for, as the first answer says. Get a field guide, that will help.

Males and 1/3 smaller than females. Young(passage) and old have different colors too. For example, a Red Tail Hawk does not have red tail feathers till it is between 9 months and 1 year old. They are usually full grown by 4 to six months. color does not distinguish between sex like other birds. Coopers, Sharp-Shinned, Red Tail, and Red Shoulders all look about the same except for size and and minor color differences. Red Tail is the biggest of those four and Sharp Shinned is the smallest. Find a local Falconer and he can provide all you need to know.

Are hawks territorial?

Hi ..I think they are, The red tail here in south ga. I used to raise pigeons until recently and knew other pigeon fanciers who believed the same thing. The reason we did was because the cooper hawks were very deadly to our birds, and Red Tails generally couldn't catch one of our more experienced birds..So sometimes if a pair of Red Tails moved in... They for the most part kept the coopers away ..Plus have watched them many times cause I am a some what animal watcher..fight of other birds of prey that come into their area...

Why do hawks circle in the sky?

Hawks circle when they are looking for prey and they also look like they are circling when they are actually riding the warm thermals in the atmosphere. Some of what you might think are hawks could actually be turkey vultures or black birds.

*Improvement*

Mainly buteos do soaring, as their wide wings enable them to glide without a single flap of the wing. Vultures will circle on warm thermals, and doves can catch the wind and briefly glide. Swallows and martins circle and zip in the sky catching small bugs.

a fox is a omnivore so if you are making a food chain it would be best to get a carnivore
