The role of a pilot in a harbor is simple - to be an expert on the port they serve and to bring in vessels ro minimize the chance of damage to property. The pilot generally is brought out to meet the approaching vessel several miles outside of the breakwater. The approaching vessel will open up a door to let the pilot on and he or she is then escorted to the Bridge. This person will either advise the Captain and/or take the helm of the vessel and bring it safely into and out of port.
Who is the black guy in the new Charter HD commercial about watching your favorite sports in HD?
A dead guy....RIP
Carbon Monoxide poisoning is a real threat that sends numerous victims to emergency rooms every year. Yes, people really do bring barbecues in doors-mostly due to ignorance or customs.
Imagine any non speaking person new to the US watching that commercial and figuring if it's on TV it must be safe.
When is the best time to buy gasoline?
Only buy or fill up your car or truck in the early morning when the ground temperature is still cold. Remember that all service stations have their storage tanks buried below ground. The colder the ground the more dense the gasoline, when it gets warmer gasoline expands, so buying in the afternoon or in the evening....your gallon is not exactly a gallon. In the petroleum business, the specific gravity and the temperature of the gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products plays an important role.
A 1-degree rise in temperature is a big deal for this business. But the service stations do not have temperature compensation at the pumps.
This will be a guess, but most Nissan trucks, after you first turn the key to ON, before starting the engine, the electric fuel pump in the tank will turn on and prime itself. It turns off when the fuel pressure rises to normal
Is a higher or lower trajectory better or lower for making basketball shots?
A high arch is usually better than little arch but it depends on the players size and fundamentals or mechanics of the shot. A consistant trajectory is important in forming a consistant shot. This is true with other mechanics like release point, form, etc.
High Definition, a better, sharper more detailed picture. (HDTV).
Converter for pal to ntsc for scv?
PAL is the European color encoding system and NTSC is the North American color encoding system. The two are similar systems but not compatible. Additionally, North American video content runs at 59.94hz while European uses a 50Hz field rate. To add to the differences, Pal is normally 576 lines and NTSC is 480 lines. Note that PAL and NTSC apply ONLY to standard definition video. HD video uses neither of the color encoding systems although the field rates still vary between the US and UK.
A full conversion between European PAL to North American NTSC requires that the color encoding is changed as well as the field rate and the number of lines making up the picture.
Changing the color encoding is relatively simple and there are a number of devices at under $100 that will do the job reasonably well. Many televisions will cope with the different line counts and field rates so a color transcoder might be sufficient. However, many others will not handle the different lines and field rates so a full converter is required.
Creating a 59.94Hz, 480 line signal from 50Hz, 576 lines is far from trivial. Television studios that need to make the conversion will have equipment that may be well in excess of $50,000. Domestic versions are considerably less expensive but even models above $1000 have visible failings. Don't expect to get great results from the $100 - $200 range models. Having said that, they will normally work and might be the most cost effective way to convert home videos or other non-published content.
There are some alternatives. Many video specialists will convert to and from NTSC. Make sure they offer a full conversion of frame rate, line count and color transcoding. If they are unable to confirm this straight away, go to another dealer who understands the process and can confirm the full conversion.
The other option is to capture the PAL content to a computer and replay as a video file on the computer. Not perfect but with a video capture card, it's a virtually free way to store and watch any format of video.
What is the VGA in the computer?

Why is cable not made at least resistance possible?
While it would be nice if we had cable that had no resistance at all, the only materials that have no resistance are superconductors, and they only work at really, really, really low temperatures. There are some special applications where superconductors are used, but it is largly impracticle because of the cost of making the cable and of keeping it cold. We have a zillion miles of cable in the power grid and the wiring of structures. Most of it is copper. But copper is too heavy and of insufficient strength to use on the big high tension cross country cables hanging from those big towers. Also, aluminum is used in a lot of applications because it is cheaper than copper, though it isn't quite a good a conductor. If we use a slightly larger aluminum wire than the size of the correct size copper wire for a given application, the resistance of that bigger aluminum conductor will be about the same per foot as the smaller copper conductor. Copper is about the best we can do to make a conducting cable that is going to work at ambient temperature. Lastly, there aren't a lot of choices between good old copper and superconductors.
Will the N64 work with Wii component cables?
No, but Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, and Gamecube can all share component cables. When I first got my Wii, I was slightly disappointed that I couldn't use the cable I use on these other systems.
The standard size was 27 inches and the programs were aired in color. However, many people were still in the process of transitioning from antennae that were typically mounted to the side of the house or top of the roof, to what is now known as cable TV.
Remotes just started making their way onto the market in the early 80's however you need to purchase a TV that worked with a remote. Prior to that, you had to get up off your couch, walk over to the TV, and change the channels manually using a rotating knob. Channel surfing was a bit more tideous way back in the prehistoric days of the 80's.
Big screen TVs were just beginning to be available for purchase and you could get a 42 inch for about $5,000.
Which brand salt chlorination system should you buy?
Use Magnablu I have tried out the whole system and have seen nothing any where near as good on the market yet. This system uses Magnesium and potassium chloride instead of Sodium chloride which all other sat water pools use, Also the filter medium they use in their sand filter is far better. I have never seen my water stay this clean before without having to touch it.

What is the recommended HDMI cable for a Samsung 1080p 240 hz LCD?
HDMI is a standard interface for standard and high definition video signals and is independent of the equipment that is connects.
Ensure that any HDMI cable is HDMI 1.3 compliant. All licensed HDMI cables have been tested and approved for a maximum length. If the cable is properly licensed, it will operate without problems. Remember that price makes little difference - either the cable works or it doesn't. Make sure that the cable is bought from a reputable retailer and has the HDMI logo on it to ensure it is compliant.
