The rear wiper on Odysseys is different from regular wipers in that it is only the rubber edge of the blade that is replaced when the wiper stops working well. A replacement blade can be purchased at a Honda Dealer for less than $10. To remove the rubber edge of the wiper, you have to bend the spine of the wiper slightly backward and 'wiggle' the rubber component out from its position. Move the steel reinforcement pieces from the old edge to the new edge before reinserting the egde into the spine.

Well, if you wait long enough you'll make a major mess of the braking system and possibly risk braking failure.

Nearly all pads have built-in wear indicators that make a squealing or screeching sound when the pads get too thin. If you don't have the pads changed they can wear down to the mountings, which will scrape nice deep grooves in the rotors. At that point you'll be looking at a full rebuild. That's big bucks.

Similarly, even if you change the pads, letting the rotors go too long will cause them to become "dished" as the surface wears away. As the rotors get thinner they'll heat up faster during stops which can cause a number of problems ranging from warping to brake fade. Again, if the rotors warp you'll be looking not only at replacing them but probably also having work done on the calipers, etc. due to uneven running.

Most but not all states require inspections at least once a year. Checking brakes should be part of the deal. If it's not, ask the tech guys to do a once-over. Believe me, it's not worth the potential savings to try to cut corners on one of the most important systems in your car.

Pult 3 1/2 to 4 quarts of SAE 5W-30. Its actually writen on the sticker that is on top of the air box for your air filter. 3.5 - 4 qts might not be enough if you have also changed the oil filter which will absorb about a half qt. of oil. I start with 4 qts., start the engine and let it warm up. I then shut it down and let it sit (on a level surface) for about 10-15 minutes (this should give enough time to let all the oil drain down into the pan.) Now pull out your dipstick, wipe it off, and put it back in ALL THE WAY. Now pull it back out, and see how much oil it registers. If your oil registers at the top dot (or a little hole) then you're full.

Take it to a mechanic then go to brothel while waiting.

For Hondas still under warranty, it's always best to follow the manufacturers warranty requirements. Actually, any oil you ever put in your engine should, at the very least, meet those standards. That said, I highly recommend 100% synthetic oil with one caveat: If your Honda engine has oil leaks it's a good idea to get the leaks fixed prior to switching to synthetic oil, since synthetic oil tends to clean up the crankcase removing sludge that may have previously plugged or slowed leaks. Of course, removing sludge is a good thing. I have run Mobile1, Red Line and AMSoil in my Hondas (all of the aforementioned exceed Manufacturers recommendations) and while I had good results with all of these synthetics, I have settled on AMSoil.

The code A123, in your 2008 Honda Odyssey, is a reference that the air filter may need to be changed. A code should reset after changing the air filter.

I have a 2003 Honda Odyssey and have had the car in 4 times with the SRS light on--every time their computer says to replace the passenger side seat belt. Every time, the light comes on the first time a passenger is in it; I take it back, they do something, the light goes out, but comes on again in a month or so. It is on again right now. I have asked them to query Honda about this, but I do not think the dealer is being honest about this, because it keeps being a problem. I recently replace the battery on my 2000 Honda Odyssey. When I restarted the van, my SRS light came on and stayed on. I told the dealer the battery story and asked if it just needed to be reset. They said no. The dealer says I need a new "unit". This is around $300. I have a hard time believing this as I have never seen this light before and all of the sudden, my SRS is on after replacing the battery. My step dad says that I should try to take the hot wire off the battery and leave it off for 15 minutes then put it back on. As soon as I get my van back, without a new "unit", I will try this!
