How do you bring a motor to top dead center with overhead cams?
pull #1 or front spark plug.
take cap off distributor.
on my 90 #1 is at about 4-5 o-clock
have some one put a finger over spark plug hole and tap the key till the compression blows from the cylinder.
you will probable pass it so turn your motor to line up on tdc.
the piston is on top on #1 and #4 just check the rotor to make sure your on #1
i dont know how they work, but i do know that why they would stop engaging is a few reasons,
1.not enough pressure from the slave
2.not enough lube for it to move ie. gears are frozen
3.water was gotten in and frozen the gears.
these are just a few of the problems the auto-locking hubs can have. would say put it on some jacks and see if it will enguage. as that is what i had to do to find out that mine didnt work. you can replace them with asini manual locking ones or warn manual locking or the superwinch ones. personally i like the superwinch, but many people will tell you asini is the only way to go, but good luck finding ones that are in decent shape to use and trust.
