How do you change the starter on a 1987 Nissan Pathfinder?

First disconnect the + side of the battery. The starter is on the right side of the engine (when you are facing the truck) accessible from underneath the truck. This is also under the oil filter, so you may want to degrease the starter before you start. Secure the truck on jack stands.

Disconnect the wires on the back of the starter (two wires and a plug), then remove the two bolts holding it in at the back. Voila! Reverse process to install new starter.

How do you adjust the timing belt in a 1993 Isuzu trooper?

The timimg belt in this vehicle is self adjusting so if it's too loose you need a new timing belt. Most belts should be replaced every 80K miles as part of routine maintenance. It is advisable to replace the tension pulleys with your new belt. Also, check the tension piston. It is located above and to the left of the crankshaft, has two bolts holding it on and pushes against a lever arm that holds the left side tension pulley. There should be a bit of play in the little piston that comes out of it, specs are in your Haynes repair manual.

What is the Manual transmission fluid capacity for 1987 Isuzu trooper?

really iffy there sir.

the only way to ckeck it, as you have a manual, is to get under the truck, open the fill plug and the only real way to check it,

if you unscrew the plug and trans fluid comes out, it is fine, if you unscrew it and you have to stick your finger in to feel the fluid, you need to add some. the reason it is so hard to check/change is that it is a closed system, unlike autos that have the rod like the oil dip stick. the manuals dont have a dip stick.

Why would an Isuzu trooper have a lot of play in the steering and why would the wheels seem to moved back and forth over any bumps or grooves in the road?

Have the steering gear adjusted; the gear may have too much play in it. After that is looked at, a steering stabilizer may be added to reduce the amount of wandering . I hope this helps you, Mark = *One thing else to check is the wheel bearings. Jack up the front end/ grab tire at 9 and 3 oclock and try to wiggle it. If theres alot of play...have the bearings checked by a service tech.
