It is advisable to replace the tension pulleys with your new belt. Also, check the tension piston. It is located above and to the left of the crankshaft, has two bolts holding it on and pushes against a lever arm that holds the left side tension pulley. There should be a bit of play in the little piston that comes out of it, specs are in your Haynes repair manual.

the only way to ckeck it, as you have a manual, is to get under the truck, open the fill plug and the only real way to check it,
if you unscrew the plug and trans fluid comes out, it is fine, if you unscrew it and you have to stick your finger in to feel the fluid, you need to add some. the reason it is so hard to check/change is that it is a closed system, unlike autos that have the rod like the oil dip stick. the manuals dont have a dip stick.

Replace in reverse order.
Have the steering gear adjusted; the gear may have too much play in it. After that is looked at, a steering stabilizer may be added to reduce the amount of wandering . If theres alot of play...have the bearings checked by a service tech.
