you have to remove the back driver trim in the back of the jeep..........you will find a green plug, the aftermarket wiring will plug into that.......................good luck

There are four ways to find a ratio.

1 A dealer can normally tell from the vin number.

2 There are normally tags or labels on the axle that have part number, gear ratio, and fluid requirement

3 You can count how many times you have to turn the driveshaft to get one complete turn of the tires.

4 You can divide the number of teeth on the ring gear and divide by number of teeth on the pinion.

First check to make sure the compressor is switching on. if not, you have an electrical proble (fuse or a lose connection of a short) If it is engaging, then you probably need to recharge the system. If it is a very slow leak, you can use a refrigerent with sealer mixed in and that may fix your probleam (at least for a while) Otherwise you may have a leak that will require professional repair

There are 2 things you can do, first if it is a v6 then it is a 4.0, know place the jeep in 12 this is first and second gear, it will automatically shift to second. Go on a straight stretch of road, place it in 12 going about 5 or 10 so slow right down then floor the gas pedal, then lightly let off then floor it again and hold it till you it 60mph depending if you are in Canada or the u.s. Use a stop watch to calculate how long it takes to get from 0 or 5 or 10 to 60mph. Dont be worried about blowing your engine, the v6 4.0 in a 1998 jeep Cherokee is very powerful for an SUV motor and is capable of a lot . Be safe when doing this.

theres a clip. unclip it. use a small screwdriver to push the clip out and pull it out.

The neutral/back up light switch is located on the passenger side of the transmission close to the rear corner of the housing. It is triangular in shape. Take it apart carefully and clean the contacts with contact cleaner.

It's very likely that the engine mounts will need changed, and the transmission as well. You'll want to change the computer as well as the old one is set to operate a 2.5L 4-cylinder.

use an ohm meter goin in to the coil (my wire was green w/ orange stripe) if nothin run hot wire from batt to that wire if it works thers a short comin out of the relay box i rigged mine ask a pro for the right way good luck

A fuse blows due to an over current condition. It could be a direct short to ground, or the "load" item pulling to many amps. The load is what ever item the circuit contains ie: fuel pump.

The most common problem would be your flasher. It is a module that regulates power going to your bulbs and allows them to flash. Check with your local parts dealer and they should be able to help you without the expense of a mechanic. The flasher usually is inexpensive and easy to fix. if its not the flasher, check the grounds for the pigsockets..............Mike

I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee I am not sure if a repair can be made. Today my 3rd radiator is being installed. There appears to be plastic and alum that join together sort of a crimped joint. This is where my failures occured. The first was under my extended warranty. The second occured 3 months after the first. So it was still under the second installation warranty. At one time the Radiatior was all alum and leaks could be easily repaired. They may have needed to be taken out but not replaced with a new one each time.

I like my Jeep Cherokee. It appears that the coolant system, brakes, and air conditioner seem to be it's weak points.

I suggest you purchase a receiver type hitch. They come with complete instructions.

Most likely causes for this are:

1-Corroded radiator.

2-If equipped with 4-liter engine, cracked cylinder head. Peek through the oil-fill cap and shine a bright light in there. If it's cracked, you should see it.

3-Low coolant level.

4-Leaves, sand, birds, newspaper, bags, or other debris blocking radiator.

Check the bulb if it is burned out replace it with a 194 The marker light and the signal light in front of the Jeep are designed to flash seperately why I have no idea as for it staying on in the dash board check the switch and also too check to see if you have the proper bulb in the socket as that could cause a problem . also check for loss of ground to the front or rear bulbs...i.e. corrosion

This is a hard question to answer as the gas mileage varies quite a bit depending on a few things. My Dad and I both have one, I'm getting about 18 MPG mixed driving, where he is getting about 21 MPG. The one big difference, mine is automatic and his is a manual trans. Additionally, the Jeep XJ series has a lot of quirky, but not serious issues, which can seriously affect the gas mileage. A couple of these are the crankshaft sensor and the oxygen sensor. The crankshaft sensors are renowned for going bad, and as they start to go they will cause misfires and eat up your gas mileage. Hope this helps.
