How do you repair the power windows on a Jeep Cherokee?

First remove the door panel with 5 screws - don't forget the one behind the door lever! With screws removed, carefully lift up and out - then unhook the door lever from the latching mechanism, and unplug the connectors for the windows and mirror and locks. Now that you have full access to the innards of the door, figure out what went wrong and fix it! That's all I got for now. Hopefully somebody can explain the details of the window mechanism including cables and stuff.

Why are your abs light and brake light on for a Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Go to a parts store that can check your computers codes, if it is on constantly it is a hard code and something that is actually wrong, not just a temporary problem. ABS would be a sensor or something for the ABS most likely.

If all of the lights are on constantly, and you have been very good with all your maintenance and repairs and have not been in any kind of accident or driving off road, I would suspect you have a major electric issue, such as the PCM or ECM or BCM. Not sure exactly what control modules the Dakota has. Also be aware, that in most cases, multiple types of scanners may be needed for checking multiple systems and is usually the case for ABS systems, so a standard code reader/scanner may not pinpoint your problem.

What kind of power steering fluid should you use on a 1998 jeep Cherokee?

Use any fluid for use in power steering systems that is labeled Power Steering Fluid.

1984-2001 Cherokee Owners Manuals and Factory Service Manuals both state in bold letters DO NOT USE ANY ATF IN THE POWER STEERING.

What does a radiator cost for a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

It depends on where you buy it. On-line you can find them from $100 to $300. I did mine a couple of months ago and it was $125 with shipping. Be aware that the grill, headlights, and bumper cover need to come off in order to remove the radiator, it sounds like a lot but if you are careful and have access to a good manul its not that bad.

What needs to be done if a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee made a pop or grinding sound when turning and now the vehicle rolls when placed in park?

Don't know if Chrysler still uses pawls, or not, in the transmission, but somehow it sounds as if the pawl got broken off, or if it is a rod, then the rod became dis-engaged from the manual control lever. Find a "trustworthy" shop to look inside the transmission.

How do you check a rocker arm on a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with a 4.7 V8 engine?

Rocker Arm problems, specifically with them falling off, are common with 2000 JGC's. You can get the code read, which will point to the cylinder that has the failed rocker arm and then remove the left or right rocker cover to inspect. The problem with the falling off rocker arms tends to be a slippage of the valve guides that leaves the valve to hang up and removes the stress from the rocker so it just falls off. Replace the heads. Replace the HEADS? Sounds drastic. How about repairing the heads?

How do you remove parking light lens for 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

If you are talking about the lens to the immediate side of the headlamp, there is a torx head screw accessible easily from the top when the hood is lifted. The second torx head is obscured beneath the bottom of the lens. However, it will is accesible with a driver type torx head if you can sneak it in between the lens and the lower parking lamp.

If you are talking about the lower parking lamp, don't really remember the screw locations, but they are torx head as well and I believe the headlamp housing needs to be removed. The headlamp pulls out, no mounting srews

How do you reset the Performing Service light indicator on a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Do i have 35 or 44 axle in a jeep grand Cherokee?

A 44 rear axle in a Grand Cherokee has an aluminum center, so if a magnet won't stick to the part that the cover bolts to it is a 44.

How do you know if the water pump is bad on a 1998 Pontiac Grand Am?

On the dash board display you will see a red light in the form of a downward arrow pointing to water. Eventually the car will overheat if not serviced immediately. Careful though. Most auto repair shops will try to con you into purchasing a new timing chain with tensioners which can be very costly. Timing belts or chains are not always worn to the point of replacement. On mine, the belt would squeal when I first started the engine. Oh yea, that puddle of coolant under the water pump was a clue also.

How do you remove the three bolts near the fire wall where the motor bolts into the transmission while trying to remove it from a 1996 jeep grand Cherokee?

u need to support the engine with a cherry picker and then remove the long motor mount bolts. after u have done that remove the engine mount brackets from the engine. then lower the engine down on to the front axle. this will give u plenty of room to reach over the head and remove the bell housing bolts. there are usually only two not three and sometimes they require a torx socket.

Is high oil pressure good?

You may have a restriction in the oil system, which will starve the engine of oil.

How to remove water pump on 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Go to AutoZone.com, the website of the AutoZone chain of auto parts businesses. On the front page, there is a heading for Vehicle Repair Information. Click on it, then enter the vehicle info required. A repair guide will come up from which you should choose Engine and Engine overhaul. There will be another menu, which will include a section on the water pump. When that comes up, it will include water pump info on each engine available in that selection of models. Make sure to choose the right one.

How do you remove and install the power steering pump pulley on a 97 jeep grand Cherokee V8 with it still in the car?

To get your old pulley off you will need to go to autzone/advance/whatever auto store and get a new pulley, and a pulley removal kit. You rent it for like $40 but they give you your $ back when you return it. Go home and take your drivebelt off, then follow the instructions in the puller removal kit to remove the pulley. It's kind of hard to explain the pieces in it, but it's not hard to figure out yourself. Helps to have two people though. Once you get the old pulley off there is another piece in the kit that is for installing a new pulley, and its about as easy as turning a wrench. The only problem is that the fan and fan shroud are a PITA to work around, but it can be done without removing either of those.

How to turn off the Jeep Grand Cherokee tire pressure light?

Make sure all five tires are at the pressure listed on the drivers door jamb, 35 psi I think. Then you may have to drive for ten minutes to get the system to recognize the change. If the light is still on you will need to have the system checked for codes with a scan tool.
