just repalced my valve cover gasket on my lincoln ls, check engine light is still on. repalce a boot, to one of the coil's which are ($80) a piece. Took back to mechanic, now check engine light is back on again. Mechanic also found oil on one of the boots, after soaking. Still having the same problem, car skipping and light back on. Getting really fustrated, been to mechanic three times this week, car just got out the shop on Monday. Here it is Thursday and light still on. Is this normal?

AnswerIn my experience this is a problem with the clock spring in the steering wheel. I did the clock spring replacement myself without much trouble. The part is over $200 at the dealer.Another problem that is very common with the LS is the driver side airbag on the seat. The wiring harness is below the seat and can be accidently hit by a rear passengers foot or become dirty or partially seperated. The code for this unit is 36 and will show on the dash. The airbag light will flash in sequence just count each flash. 36 for instance would be 3 flashes with a pause then 6 more.
