I have a manual for this but there are too many steps involved but you would be better off going to your local library and just check out the repair manual so that you can see this for yourself..........

i have a 99 cougar 2.5l and yes they have a sensor if u change pads and theys ask u if it has sensor say yes

Only '99 Cougars had brake wear sensors, all other years did not. So your '02 does not have the sensor.

Burnt Fuse?

The bulb outage module, or lamp outage module, is located to the left of the drivers left leg while sitting in the seat. It is just slightly up under the dash, clipped into a black housing. It should be a white colored box with one large electrical plug with many wires plugging into it.

The switch above the brake light switch should be a cruise control deactivation switch, so that the cruise control turns off when the brake pedal is pressed.

In your power distribution box ( which is in the engine compartment )check the R3 relay color-black.This is for the air conditioning.Also check the D2 relay color-black.For the heater blower.Check the passenger compartment fuse panel ( which is below the instrument panel )Look for fuse #37 Ampere-rating 30 color green.

check that the neutral safety switch is engaging or working. this switch is usually on side of transmission u can also check for a blown fuse

It all really depends on usage and type of transmission. Automatics, when not driven hard I have seen usually last till 150k, manual transmission well into the 200k+ range. That being said, since Ford made the differential gears from sintered steel, they are like glass and you can break one on a hard launch with any transmission of any age.

You should be able to find a shop manual at your local library with the right info...make copies as they are usually only in the REFERENCE section....good luck:)

this may not be a project you want too tackle yourself. your heater core is located in the heater box which is located under the dash. to removeyou will need to drain antifreeze remove heater hoses(2) located on the firewall in the engine compartment.remove the dashboard to access the heater box.remove cover for heater core .replce and install everything in reverse order.this is a 4 or 5 hour job for a mechanic.

my cougar's hood has been broken for about 6 years now, it takes 2 people to open it but one sticks a long screw driver in where you normally would pull on the cable there is like a little button that you push and the other person needs to lift on the hood while you are pushing the button with the screw driver.

That would be caused by the blower resistor.

You can disconect the battery, which i wouldn't recommend. This means the engine is still spinning, and might still be drawing fuel, but it wont be using the fuel. This will either break something outright, or eventualy lock the engine, where you will be unable to turn it over. I would recommend that you put the car in Neutral, hold the brakes, and simply let the engine idle away the gas. Or you can do something to interrupt the flow of gas, IE put a really big clamp on the fuel line so that it runs out of fuel and stops spinning. NEVER YANK THE FUEL LINE OUT! you will get sprayed with gas as the pressure equalizes, and you will look really dumb at the ER when they ask how you messed up your eyes. Then get it to a mechanic as soon as possible, because that is going to be a really big electrical problem.

The answer to your question is that the snowflake appears when thoutside temperature drops to 40 degrees or below, it then changes to red when it is 32 degrees and below, thus letting you know when it is freezing outside so you know how to hand le the roads.

This is a custom suspension modification.

Remove springs.

Build a 4 or 5 link suspension syst5em including re-enforced shock mounts.

Install coil overs.

To stop spark knock , try a higher octane fuel. Make sure that the engine is timed properly and that the spark plug type isn't considered too "hot."

the transmission has to be spit apart in order to change the trans filter.
