Pull off the vacuum hose. If there is any gas present in the hose, it's faulty.

The kick panels are the things next to your feet on the outside of the car when you are sitting in the front seat.

It is located under intake manifold between the cylinder heads.

The knock sensor is in the engine V under the intake manifolds and coolant crossover pipe. As it requires considerable disassembly and an expensive new gasket set to reach it, I suggest you make very sure there is something wrong with it first. You will have to remove the upper and lower intake manifolds and coolant crossover pipe assembly to reach it. Just because you are receiving a trouble code for it does not mean there is anything wrong with it. This sensor shares a circuit with other components that often will set a "ghost" trouble code.

Bad bearing?

" regular " unleaded , 87 octane

you will have a knock sensor code and the car will run slugish. when a knock sesor code is set its retards the timing so the engine will not detonate. the easyiest way to fix it is relocating the sensor.

Flashers are next to the fuses in the fuse box under the dash.

No. The sources I checked indicate struts fit Villagers from 1996 thru 1998. (93-95 & 99-02)

SO ez a cave man could do it! Make sure you blow out the cylinder hole with air before removing the spark plug. New plugs should always be checked for gap and installed with clean dry threads( do not use anti sieze) Secure to the factory torque value.

OBDII plugs are under the dash to the right of the steering column.

You cant really. I have a 1996 Mercury Villager LS 3.0L. The only thing that you notice is a bit less shakyness when shifting (automatic trans). Also the take off will be more smooth and you will feel like you are gettin more power at high speeds or a WOT (wide open throttle). If you mean physically in overdrive at the shifter, you can't. The quadrant is marked with only "D", "2" and, "1". You must assume that it will shift into overdrive when all conditions are met and the computer allows the trans to shift. If you mean how do you know when the trans has shifted into overdrive, there are two ways. First, count the shifts. For overdrive, there will be three shifts. Or, if yours is equiped with a tachometer, watch it for the shift points.

I've had that happen on my 02 moutianeer. I got back in and hit the brake and it went out. You could have one of the sockets on your back lights burning out. THat includes the the top tail light also.

Check the codes with an OBD2 scan tool.

It reads the vibrations that result from the ignition of the air fuel mixture in the engine. The computer uses that information to calculate proper ignition timing.
