Why must you use forceps to hold the cover slip while lowering it to the slide during science experiments?

Bacteria that exists on your hands could contaminate whatever is on the slide, as well as preventing the oils on your hands from doing the same. Sterile forceps are therefore ideal to these ends. In addition, it allows you to lower the cover slip down with minimal disturbance to whatever is on the slide, because the liquid on the slide will cohesively bind to your fingers more than to the forceps.

Why are microscopes important to doctors?

they were able to help see germs clearer and inspect them more

Is there any danger for the eyes when using a microscope?

Microscopes are perfectly safe for the eyes. They present no danger.

Why do you think eyeglasses were invented before the microscope?

Eyeglasses only need one lens to work well, while microscopes needs several.

And on top of that it's a lot easier to realize that you need eyeglasses than to have a use for a microscope.

Would you expect to find more or less myoglobin than average in the muscle tissue of whales if you were to examine it under the microscope?

You would find more myoglobin in the muscle tissue of whales because thy have to store more oxygen so that they can stay underwater for extended periods of time. This helps cellular respiration continue but without having to divert to the process of fermentation, which is basically the cells back up plan for glucose breakdown when oxygen isn't present.

What are the proper care and handling techniques for discus fish?

Care Discus are typically considered finicky and not particularly hardy. They often become susceptible to disease and death outside of ideal conditions. Water conditions Aquariums for discus should be kept within a temperature range of 82-88

When should you clean the lenses of a microscope?

After every use is probably the best time. Also, before is helpful as well.

Which one is a wider lens. 35-105mm or 28-105mm?

The 28mm lens is wider, with a focal point at 28ft you can see more of the outer distance than if you were focusing on 35ft. The higher the number, the farther the focus point, the smaller the viewable area.

Is there an MP3 player that would hold about 300 CDs and can be used as a jukebox through a stereo receiver?

MP3 Playeras far as song capacity..the average MP3 song is about 3-5 MB.1000 MB = 1 GByou can get 20 GB mp3 players and I don't know for sure but they may go as high as 60 GBSO lets say you bought a 20 GB player that 20000 MBlets say that the average size of Each song is 4 MBthats about 5000 songsabout 15 songs per CD???yeah that's about 330 CDs...so yeah it would seem possible

as far as hooking it up to a stereo receiver? well its all about inputs and outputs...if the mp3 player has a headphone plug that's an "output". sound is coming out of that hole so it can go IN to your headphones. and inputs on your receiver like Video-IN, CD-IN etc. that's were the sound is supposed to go IN so in can go to the speaker wires and OUT the speakers. just run a cable from and OUT put hole on the MP3 player to the INPUT hole or holes on the receiver. its like using your headphones as a Mic. seriously plug your headphones into your MIC hole on your computer and try and record yourself talking into them. ive done it. no lie!!!! It works because its all based in the INPUTS and OUTPUTS

Reasons why afraicans were used?

They were used because of the physical differences from whites. Whites also thought that because they were not like them that had to dumber and inferior to whites.

Is the use of gender stereotyping in advertisements truly a reflection on todays society?

advertisements are to do only one thing, to make you think you want to buy or need to buy whatever it is they are selling

to get you to think about them, their company their product

it cant be a reflection on todays society fairly and truly, because society is made up of individuals and individuals are different to each other, or at least believe themselves to be different

stereotyping only really works on society as a whole, not on any individual who is watching at home, and when they are referencing someone else not the stereotype the individual is supposed to be

as an individual they will always think 'hey i don't do that', 'i don't like that', 'i don't look like that', 'that's NOT me' and will then distance themselves from the product

reality and humor are always more effective than pretense advertising is always noticed much more when it acts like an individual, because individuality connects with the individual at home

however the use of stereotyping in a humorous context will always be noticed by society because society knows the stereotypes,

the individuals in society however don't like to be judged seriously as a stereotype whether man or woman, boy or girl

its felt to be insulting and judgmental and very alienating when you don't feel like you fit in with society's version or the TVs version of whats 'normal' or stereotypically 'normal'

Why the invention of the microscope led to the discovery of cells?

Because the microscope was the first measurement tool that could make objects as small as cells visible. Before that there was no evidence for the existence of cells.

Where can you buy gum media in Florida for your microscope?

There is no listed store in Florida that has gum media, but you may be able to find some at a science store. There are several websites that do have gum media for purchase. The sites are Microscope World and Optics Planet.

What is the lens that is used to find the specimen on a microscope?

You use the low power lens to find the specimen with a microscope. Once you have found the specimen on low power, you can switch to high power for greater magnification. Just be sure to use only the fine adjustment knobs for focusing on high power so the high power objective won't hit the slide.

What is glass slide used for?

A glass slide is used for mounting specimens for microscopic study.

The parts and functions of the parts of a microscope?

Arm = supports top part of microscope Base = the part the microscope stands on Lens turret= a rotating support for the objective lenses objective lens or lenses are those closest to the object being viewed. Their degree of magnification is usually marked on the side of the lens, eg. 100x magnifies the object 100 times. The longer the lens, the greater its magnifying power. Eyepiece (or ocular lens) = This is the lens closest to the eye and its magnifying power is generally marked on the side. To determine the total magnifying power of a compound microscope, multiply the power of the ocular lens with the power of the objective lens. For example, a 10x ocular with a 100x objective would give a total magnification of 1000. A microscope may also have a binocular eyepiece with a lens for each eye. Stage Clip= holds the glass slide which contains a specimen to be viewed. Stage- holds the specimen. Coarse adjustment knob- makes large adjustments to the focus of the lenses. Fine adustment knob- makes small adjustments to the focus of the lenses Below the stage is located either a mirror or an electric light which directs light through the specimen on the stage.

Why is specimen smaller than200mm not visible with a light microscope?

Because the smallest wavelength of visible light we can see is around 400 nm. Something 200 nm would need an electron microscope to be seen.

Can protozoa be seen under a light microscope?

As larger eukaryotic cells many can be seen under a light microscope ( moderte to good quality ). Simple fresh pond water can show a whole different world of protists.

What kind of microscope did Robert Hooke use?

Robert Hooke built the compound microscope. this microscope was made out of more that one lens

Why did scientists have to use other tools other than microscopes to solve the structure of DNA?

DNA is too small to visually make out the structure; even the best modern light microscopes can't see that it's a double-helical shape. However, crystallizing it, bombarding it with x-rays, and looking at the diffraction let them get a better look.

Specifically, the wavelength of visible light is too big to see it.

Good on you, Rosalind Franklin. (And Watson and Crick too, I GUESS)
