5W-30 should work fine. It's what I've been using.

Any type of: that is SAE certified will work in a 1999 eclipse. It is recommended to use a coolant with a temperature range of 120 degrees to -35 degrees Fahrenheit.

Here are some good links to how to do it. But I will try and explain it also. The simplest way is to have someone pump the clutch pedal about 7 time and then have them hold the pedal to the floor. Use a 10mm wrench to loosen the bleeder valve on the slave cylinder about a quarter turn or so. Some fluid will come out then close the bleeder. Keep an eye on your fluid level and refill as needed. Repeat until you get a solid stream of fluid. Be aware that your clutch hydraulics uses brake fluid and brake fluid eats paint.

I had a 96 that did the same thing for several months, but then it died for good. I had to replace the computer, at a cost of about 600 parts/labor, and it ran fine after that.

I assume the blower motor is going. There might be an air bubble preventing the warm water from circulation through the heater core, you might have a build-up of sludge doing the same. Or maybe there's something broken in the valves in the air ducts preventing the heater from releasing warm air into the car.

The ECU is located behind the radio remove radio look in that box back there is the ECU to remove it take out panels on both sides of front console remove radio remove screws holding ecu carefully remove clips and pull ecu out passenger side. You dont need to pull the stereo.

A set of wrenches (ussually Mitsubishi has metric system), a screwdriver, a hammer, a set of clamps to release calipers, and special fluid for cleaning rotars (you can buy in local auto part stores).

if its a v6 its on the driverside in back of engine on top has 2 ten mil bolts if its a 4cyl its on the right side on top of engine very easy to get at

Probably remove the transmissionm if its a internal slave, if external then its mounted on the outside of the tranny. The master clutch cylinder is located on the firewall. Bleed the system and pump the hell out of the clutch after installing the new slave.

On a 99 GST it is an external cylinder (2) 10mm bolts remove the line replace cylinder bleed system.

First remove the consul by removing the two screws located underneath the radio. Just go to the edges of the radio and follow it down going underneath the dash. You will need a small Philips head as there isn't much clearance especially on the left side. You can then pull away the plastic exposing the radio itself. For those looking to get at the serial number - this is all it takes.

There are four screws holding the stereo unit in place. From there it is just a matter of unplugging any wires.

Well, my car does the same thing in 4th....I looked at the shift cable bushing where it attaches to the tranny and there was a lot of extra play there... possibly enough play to not fully engage the gear...they make aftermarket replacement bushings which would be the easiest solution or replace the entire shift cable for a new one....a whole lot cheaper than replacing the tranny......this worked for this case...other cars that pop out of gear all of sudden might need a similar fix...

Sounds like the thermostat is bad. I just had the same problem in my 2003 eclipse. The thermostat is located where the top radatior hose goes into the engine. You should start by removing the air intake hose. You should then see that the hose connects to a thermostat housing( It has 3 bolts and a wire on it). Remove the top hose from the housing and the bolts. You may want to use a catch pan because you will lose a small amount of antifreeze. You can now remove the old thermostat and put in a new one. You will also want to replace the gasket on the thermostat housing. The thermostat can be bought from any auto store. I got the thermostat and gasket for about $21.00 from advance auto. Hope this helps.

5W-30 should be sufficient all year round. If you live in a very cold area geographically - 10W-30 might be better.

It can be done. But for a price. The 420A motor (GS and GS motor) have the transmission sitting on the right side. (If your looking at the front of the car) And the 4G63 (GS-T and GSX motor) Have the transmission sitting to the left side. So just a straight motor swap is NOT possible. But I suppose if you got a GS-T motor and transmission then you can remount the motor and transmission mounts, but you would probably have to relocate everything, such as the ecu and battery and whatnot. So to answer the question, technically, it is possible. But illogical. You would be much better off just selling the GS and getting a GS-T, or just put a turbo on the GS.
