You can feel it. You can feel the gears disengage. You can't mistake that feeling for anything else.

If replacing the head gasket on a 99 eclipse do i need the whole gasket set or just the head gasket?
just the gasket is fine if you don't remove the intake or exhaust manifolds, as the kit would include those gaskets as well; also the kit comes with new cam and valve seals.

2000 Eclipse power steering belt diagram?
the power steering belt on a 2000 eclipse also runs to the ac pump.
the tension release is at the front of the car.
look toward the passenger side from about the same level of the header.
there will be a 14mm nut that you'll have to loosen, then another bolt that actually faces the rear of the car that will allow the tensioner to release the belt.
just loosen this and the belt will be able to come off.
the alternator/water pump belt is a little more difficult to get off, but still very easy. there is a similar tensioner above the alternator (passenger side of engine, next to firewall). by doing the same with this, you should be able to get the alternator/water pump belt off.
if after loosening the alternator tensioner the belt doesn't start to loosen, you'll have to get under the car and loosen the single 14mm nut the holds the bottom of the alternator in.

How do you remove the dash board speakers in a 1997 Mitsubishi eclipse GST?
Fortunately these can be removed from the top rather than having to take out the entire dashboard. They are held in place by four plastic flat shafts along the side that have slight lips that lock under the dashboard. You need to have a short flat headed screwdriver or some other type of short flat thin blade since these are so close under the front windshield. Simply ply the lip of the speaker guard as if you were popping the top off a paint can. You might want to gently try a few different spots and then when one side pops just do the same to the other side or simply manuever it out with your hand after you pop out one side. Mitsubishi also made it easy to remove the speaker with a snap wiring connector assembly about 2 inches up the wiring from the speaker. Good luck. Fusul@aol.com
When an engine overheats the head or block or both can crack or the head and/or block can warp or you can be lucky and none of the above might happen. If the head warps your head gasket will fail. If the head and/or block crack you will need to find replacments. If the block warps you will need to bore the cylinders and align bore the lower end. None of the above are cheap.
Where is the starter located on a 1996 Mitsubishi eclipse?
when you pop the hood look at the transmission in the front of the car you will see it bolted in to the transmission just below the exhaust manifold. I have a 99 gst and my starter is under the intake manifold towards the firewall middle of the car. easiest way to access it for me was to remove the battery and the battery tray and you can get to the wiring harness and the 2 bolts pretty easy. Getting out from the underneath is a challenge you have to spin it just right between the frame member and exhaust to get it out but it will come out without unbolting the exhaust from the downpipe.
Where is the water pump located on a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse 6 cylinder?

Starter location on a 1994 cutlass supreme?

How do you put on the serpentine belt on your 1991 Mitsubishi eclipse?
It doesn't use serpentine belts. It uses V groove belts. A series of 3. This is on a 2.0. The 1.8 might be different but I doubt it. The 2.0 is the better motor.
How do you replace the center speaker in a 2001 Mitsubishi eclipse?
Replacing the center speaker in a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse or a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse is not a difficult task, and requires only a short Phillips head screwdriver, and a little muscle.
There are two screws located at the bottom of the center dash cover. Remove these screws using your short Phillips screwdriver. The cover is now held in place by two clips at the top of the console, just below the clock. Pull strait back on the dash cover, and the clips will pop out, and the dash cover will be almost loose. Watch for the two metal clips to fly off of the cover as you remove it. You don't absolutely need these clips, but to do the job right, you'll want to make sure you don't lose them.
There will still be a cable connecting the hazard light button to the rest of the car. I recommend unplugging this cable from the console cover to make things easier.
The housing over the clock display now slides forward, however it is held in place by two more clips, and has to be muscled out. Pull the clock housing strait back, and with a little muscle, the clips will release and the housing will be removed.
The speaker is now visible behind the clock. You can remove the clock to make things easier. Unplug the cable leading to the speaker, and simply pull the center speaker strait out, looking at the speaker orientation as you do. Place the new speaker in using the same orientation, plug it back in, and start reassembling your car!

What does it mean when the O D OFF indicator light flashes on a 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse?
no no no...it means that you have overdrive on!!! all it does is make the gears shift a little later so you have more acceleration like when climbing a mountain
It means your overdrive gear is off on your tran. You have an automatic transmission, yes? When you drive at speeds higher than 45 MPH, your transmission will automatically shift to a higher gear to reduce engine RPM and increaase MPG. When overdrive is off, it will not do this. Performance will be improved (slightly), but economy will be reduced significantly. could be low trans fluid indicator. My guess is that you can also find a definitive explanation for this in your owners manual. There should be a notifications or warnings section in there.
