Nevada became a state (1864) because of the increase of population in the western half of the Utah Territory. This was mostly due to the discovery of silver at the Comstock Lode in 1859.

The only battles that took place there occurred in May 1860, in the Utah territory, which later became part of Nevada (these battles occurred four years before Nevada became a state and joined the Union). The first known inhabitants of Nevada can be traced back to more than 20,000 years ago. According to archaeological finds, the Washoe tribe inhabited the mountain areas. The Uto-Aztecan tribe inhabited a large portion of the northeastern area of the state. The Shoshone was a part of this group. The south was inhabited by the Paiute. This group of inhabitants could also be found in the northern portion of Nevada.

In Nevada, you can get summoned for jury duty as often as every 18 months to every three years, or so. However, you are not required to serve if you have served within 2 years prior from the date of being summoned. It becomes your responsibility to prove you had served within that 2 years, with the exact date and place (city, state, name of the court) of service, preferably with the attendance letter or the check stub you received from the service.
