Oldsmobile Aurora

The 1999 Oldsmobile headlamp module is located on the firewall in the engine compartment. The headlamp module will be on the drivers side of the firewall.

it's either multiple bulbs or a broken circut some where in the system.

The 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora smog pump can be found on the left-hand side of the engine. The smog pump will be near the exhaust manifold.

A breaker can trip and still look like it is in the "on" position. However, if the power goes off and then comes back on then there is something wrong in the circuit, not the breaker. Once a breaker trips, it will not reset itself. There are things called thermal overloads that do reset themselves after a period of time but you would not have them in your home.

Make sure it is not the appliance or the light fixtures themselves. Check each one individually to see if it is causing the problem. If you can't find the problem you should get someone in to look for loose or faulty wiring BEFORE you smell smoke!

Long term moisture can oxidize the contacts and then cause this. Try a new breaker and keep your panel as dry as possible.

The 1995 Oldsmobile Aurora 4.0 liter engine crank sensor is located on the back of the crank. You will need to remove the rear engine cover in order to view the crank sensor.

On the steering wheel

There are three fuse boxes in a 1995 Aurora. The fuse for the front fog lights can be found in the engine compartment fuse box. From left to right and going from top to bottom such as if you are reading a book, the fuse for the front fog lights is the ninth fuse.

The battery and the majority of all major engine fuses are located underneath the rear passenger seat. The seat lifts from the front and can be easily removed for your maintenance needs. Tony D.

i had the same problem and it was the crank sensor. Have it scanned it should put out a code letting u know. I HAD THE SAME THING JUST HAD MY CAM SHAFT MY CRANK. SHAFT sensors put in along with transmission something and something emissions control valve and so far its doing great

Follow the brake lines coming off of the master cylinder which is located on top of the engine near the firewall on the driver's side... that should lead you to the proportioning valve which is located on the driver's side of the engine compartment nearest the underside and almost right up next to the radiator. You can see it from the top of the engine compartment if you have a flashlight.

However, if your car has 4 wheel disc brakes you won't find a proportioning valve. They are used only on brake systems with front disc brakes and rear drum brakes.

Good possibility its your intermediate steering shaft. Which is known as (ISS). It is a defective design by GM. GM is aware of the problem and has started working to correct it. there is a new steering shaft available from GM. Lubing it is only going to fix it for a shorter and shorter period of time. The only way to fix it for good is to replace the shaft with the updated one.

Just had the same problem yesterday. It is an OBDII plug, first generation it wont link up unless u have a scan tool with a GM specific adapter cable.

THE STARTER IS LOCATED ON THE DRIVER SIDE NEAR THE BOTTOM LEFT FENDER.ITS MOUNTED NEAR THE BOTTOM CORNER OF THE RADIATOR. The starter on my 1998 Aurora is located under the intake manifold, ON TOP OF THE ENGINE. I had to replace it last year, and it took me a while to find a mechanic who actually knew where to find it.

On the 98 a black plastic 'box" under the hood on the right side about mid-way between the firewall and grill. Open by lifting the cover a copper connection block is there. That is the Positive connection, anywhere on the engine block is the negative side. Just make sure it is out of the way of moving parts before starting engine. Good luck.TomP

i did have same problem on my 95 aurora i have replace ignition coils sparkplugs and wires that solve my problem

It's basically GM's method of cheating on an emissions test. The secondary air pump adds ambient air to the exhaust in order to dilute what comes out the tailpipe. . . making it seem like it pollutes less than it does. Nice, huh?

It sounds like you may have a dead battery. Have you tried getting a jump?

this is not hard take a small screwdriver pop out the switch replace with a new one greg.

it is located in the thermostat housing which is at the upper end of the lower radiator hose (the larger hose connects the thermostat housing to the radiator next the left fan)

There is a small fuse box behind a little plastic door on the left side of the dash. Can be seen with the drivers door open. It will either be in there, or more likely, in one of the two fuse boxes under the rear seat. IF THY FANS DONT COME ON MORE THAN LIKEY IT IS A SENSOR WHEN TO ENGINE GETS HOT THE SENSOR TURNS ON THE FANS.

Step 1. Buy the Installation Kit and Wiring harness that fits the car. ( These cars have ribbon type harnesses and can seriously mess up your car if done incorrectly)

Step 2. Tap into the positive wire from the cigarette lighter for Acc power to aftermarket units.

Step 3. Pull out bezel (just pry out and gently pull.)

Step 4. Pop clips that hold radio in (4) and Pull. (these cars have a dock and lock system)

Step 5. Most aftermarket headunits are deeper than the space provided, Trim the back of stereo compartment as needed.

Step 6. Use wiring harness to wire setero to factory plug. (connect the previously tapped cig lighter wire to the Acc wire on headunit (usually red).

Step 7. Mount using the Dash Kit by the indtructions provided.

Step 8. replace bezel.

Step 9. Test unit and enjoy.

Behind where you use the handle to pull to open the door is a little cap. Use a screw driver to take it off and take out the screw you will find behind it. From there, start to take out the screws that hold the pannel on located at the bottom of the pannel, about 4 of them. You are now ready to just pull the pannel up. the pannel also has a hindge system on it so you can work on the inside stuff without having to take it all the way off the door.
