Where are O2 sensors located Olds Lss 1997?

It should be centered behind the engine block attached to the exhaust. You can look directly down on it. It looks kind of like a spark plug. Let me know if you need more details.

How do you change a fog lamp bulb in a 1998 Oldsmobile LSS?

Access the Fog Lamp from the top. Remove the cover between grill area and the radiator by using needle nose priers and prying up plastic clips (can be reused). Once cover is removed, you can see the back of the lamp covered by a rubber boot held on by a zip tie. Cut the zip tie and pull the rubber boot back to expose the lamp. Unclip the lamp out from the plastic and disconnect wire and replace lamp. You can use a little wd-40 to get the rubber boot to slide back on and you will need a new zip tie.

How do you replace the water pump on a 1997 Oldsmobile LSS?

in order to change water pump without taking out the engine you need to loosen the power steering and that will give you enough room to remove the water pump

Looks like this person above did not provide any steps or any help.

I have actually done this to my 1997 Oldsmobile LSS. After you have loosen the belt, and flushed out all the antifreeze, you'll need to remove the water pump pulley. Then unscrew the power steering pump to easily pull out the water pump. There are multiple screws that are different that will have to be taken out so be careful not to mix up and keep organized. Remember to remove any gasket pieces that are left over on the water pumps place.

After the removal process you'll have to replace the new one. Before applying, glue back the new gasket on the new water pump. (apply glue on the pumps edges, then place the gasket on top, then place another layer on the gasket). Once done, replace the pump back to its place. screw back some of the screws to support it. Now, screw the power steering pump, then screw on the remainder screws to the pump. Make sure its tight and the screws are screwed in right. You might need to replace the pumps original pulley (optional). But, I did. Before you add antifreeze, check and make sure all the hoses connected to the radiant does not have cuts or scratches, bulges, bents, and leaks (VERY IMPORTANT), if it does have all or any of those problems Replace every hose you see just to be on the safe side. Then you'll have to replace the thermostat cap with a new. (do that every time you replace the water pump). Now, screw in the pulley, and put on the belt, refill the antifreeze (check for any leaks), If there are no problems what so ever, you can finally start your car. Still check for any leaks need to check now that the car is on and running, if no problems occur. I have to tell you that you have successfully installed your new water pump.

If this has help you I greatly proud that I can assist you in any way.

Finally, the manufacturer recommends adding GM Part #3634621 Sealer with any complete coolant change. Other than this, the above is right on.

Have 1997 Olds 88 V6 has occasional miss under load any ideas where to look?

I am an owner of an 1997 Olds 88.

You need to find out what cylinder(s) it is missing on. ((Take it to an Advanced Auto or AutoZone, and ask to use their Handheld OBDII Scanner..it should be free))

The car has been known to go through coils. If you have changed/checked the plugs and wires, check the coils, which, upon looking at the engine head on, should be on top, to the left, and are visible without having to remove the grey protectant cover. They are black, squarish looking knobs, and have numbers printed on them (usually 1-6), and obviously the spark plug wires will be leading from them.

Where is the thermostat located on an 1997 Oldsmobile lss?

It is under the goose neck. The goose neck is connected to the top radiator hose. remove the hose, then loosen the goose neck the thermostat is under, or inside. Its pretty easy to do. THE ENGINE MUST BE COLD, YOU COULD BE BURNED OR WORSE, ONLY DO THIS IF THE ENGINE IS COLD!

Was there a 98 regency lx every made?

Yes there was an LX model made in the 1980 model year. My Dad had one blk on blk with a nylon roof, it also sported the cadillac roof line and rear window design.

Most of the above information regarding the 98 Regency LX is correct except that this model was as a limited production model late in the model year for 1979. It was available in tan, black, silver or a dark claret and came completely loaded. I think the only options may have been choice of radio, sunroof and anti-theft system. It did have a nylon, canvas like formal roof with a formal rear window. It also included a thin chrome molding along the upper fender line that ran the length of the car as well as a wide belt revel molding. It was made for one year.

It pops out of the dash by prying it out of the dash. Just use a flathead crewdriver and pry at the edges of the unit. All connectors are snap off, just look for the locks and unlock the security tabs to pull off connectors.

Either your coolant is actually low or you have a coolant sensor bad.

1997 olds lss interior lights won't turn off?

It is most likely a sensor that is stuck or malfunctioning. I tracked this problem in my LSS to the sensor in the door handle of the driver side. I simply disconnected it. It is the sensor that get's used the most and as such usually fails first.

Take the inside panel off, reach in and up from the inside towards the handle and you will feel some wires and a clip, disconnect it and your lights should go off.

Thanks,

Josh

Where is the PCV valve located for a 1996 Oldsmobile Eighty Eight?

I havent looked at mine for a while but it should be protruding from onr of the valve covers. To access it remove the oul cap then take off the plasic cover in top of the engine [you may need to remove the oil filler extesion it comes off just like the oil cap] then look down you should see a little valve sticking up with a hose going to the air intake that's it.

What is the normal operating temperature for a 1997 Oldsmobile LSS with 3.8?

Depending on the environment, how long it has been running, and how is has been ran (city, highway...). If you were to let your LSS idle for about 10-15 minutes, is should be at normal running temp (which is usually between 140-170 Degrees). Dont worry if your temp is slightly higher (worry if you gett past 220 normal running temp). Once you start driving, the engine should cool down or stay around the same temp. If you're driving city, and there's a lot of stop and go, you will notice that the temp will raise. Don't worry. Highway driving will usually cause a lower temp (cooler air basicly blasting around the engine).\ I own a 1996 Oldsmobile LSS with a 3.8L also. But mine is a fine-tuned GranPrix 3.8. There shouldn't be much of a running temp between the two. Let me know if you have any more questions. -James

Rear wheel bearing replacement?

Miata wheel bearings are replaced as an integral hub / bearing assembly. Do a search on www.Miata.net for more detailed information. This is true of the FRONT hub assembly, but the rear assembly in the 1990-2005 cars have a replaceable bearing that is the same for all years. Removing the bearing requires removing the entire assembly from the car so the bearing may be pressed out, or gently hammered out with correct drift sizes. The bearings are USUALLY NOT the cause of rear suspension noises. The CV joints are much more likely to fail than the bearings.

What if your interior lights are not working 97 Oldsmobile delta lss Ive checked the fuses but there good any ideas?

On my Lss 1997 it was the Positive battery cable. It was making a good connection to start the car but it wasn't making a good connection to keep the interior lights on. May need to take the positive cable loose and see if one is corroded and either clean it or replace it.

How do you replace the serpentine belt on a 97 Oldsmobile lss?

You must hoist the engine up with a lift, and then disconnect the left most engine mount. This is the only way to get the belt around the engine mount. I have heard from people at Discount Auto that a specialty tool exists for around 50 dollars that allows you to complete the job with less hassle.

Are there any differences between a 1998 Oldsmobile LSS and a 1998 Oldsmobile 88?

The biggest difference is in the interior. The Eighty-Eight has a six-passenger seating configuration with a split bench seat up front and the gear selector on the steering column, while the LSS has a five-passenger configuration with the same front and rear seats as the Aurora, although with a manual lumbar adjustment in place of the Aurora's two-point power lumbar adjustment. I'm also under the impression that it has somewhat stiffer suspension than the regular Eighty-Eight.

The LSS also includes a host of standard features that are optional on the Eighty-Eight, including 16-inch alloy wheels, a tachometer, electronic climate control, self-dimming rear view mirror with compass, and fog lights.
