What would cause a 1991 Plymouth Acclaim to stall after it has been started for 3 seconds?
Possible weak fuel pump. The fuel pump will pump fuel to the engine, and if the engine's demands are greater than what the fuel pump can deliver, the motor will stall. Let it sit for a few seconds and the pressure builds back up. Turn the key, same cycle happens. The fuel pump needs to keep a certain pressure to the injectors. have a pressure test done to see if you have a fuel pressure problem.

But look around for a module with a single plug on the bottom whose cable goes thru a hole in inner fender up near the front of the inner fender where the headlamps are located. The plug has 10-pins and uses 7 of them. 3 are from the headlamp circuit, 1 from the distance sensor, 1 to the cluster, and 1 ground. There is no troubleshooting info. Bad temperature sensor? Thermostat opening and closing ============================================================ Well those are possibilities but usually when the temperature starts fluctuating on the 2.2 or 2.5l engines, it is usually a head gasket starting to fail. When this occurs, air (combustion gasses) end up in the cooling system and make their way to the t-stat housing. Then they cause the temperature sending unit and t-stat to have disagreements, lol. I would start with the basics - t-stat, temperature sending unit. Some report having a clogged heater core causing temp fluctuations too.
That usually means that the belt is slipping on the alternator pulley. You should be able to check the belt tension and if there is a tensioner, you may need to replace the spring. Otherwise, just tighten the belt.
