Your interior lights stay on in your Grand Prix GTP even while you are in drive It doesn't bother you during the day but at night well you just feel stupid why?

Im assuming you mean the dome light? If so, did you try turning off the wheel switch located below the leadlight switch? I also have a Grand Prix GTP and noticed that there is a scroller that lets you change the brightness of your dashboard lights. When that is on the highest level, the inside lights seem to turn on. Try lowering the intensity of the light and it might go away.

Why might a '99 Grand Prix GTP misfire intermittently?

Hey George==A lot of times it is the injectors. Put some injector cleaner in the tank. also try spraying the plug wires and coils with WD40 with the engine not running. GoodluckJoe

AnswerA common problem for forced iduction engines is a fluxuation in combustion chamber environment. This includes mixture ratio, the degree of atomization of the fuel in suspension, heat and pressure. The bottom line is... change your spark plugs. I highly recommend NGK Iridium, especially if you are running a smaller pulley on you supercharger. They are very expensive, but worth it. I actually tried Bosch platinum and lost performance. If you have access to an Autotap or another scan tool, you an see which cylinders are misfiring. If you get a check engine light, the codes will tell you as well as long as the misfire set the code. AnswerIf your acceleration is weak and sluggish at times I would also check the catalytic converter. It can cause the engine to spit out misfire codes if the vaccuum is not right and it has to rev the motor to high to make it shift. As far as the spark plugs I agree with the NGK Iridiums, my Grand Prix GT has a very noticeable difference in power.

I agree with both and ig none of them are the problem check the egr valve. Mine was doing the same thing and putting up the 1404 code which is a misfire code. Good luck hope it helps.

Does the daytime running lights on a 1999 Grand Prix come on when you start the car or when it is put in gear?

The lights come on when you start the car. They will not come on if you have the park brake on. Once you release the park brake they will come on immediately.

Where can you find Detailed Instructions on the internet on installing a performance air intake system on a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GT2?

It depends on how much modifying you need/want to do. To put a cold air intake on, it is (supposed to be) a "bolt-on" part, so the instructions that come with the part should suffice. Essentially, simply looking at how the cold air intake will attach will tell you what needs to be removed. "Bolt-on" literally means once you have removed everything it replaces, just bolt it on. Some might suggest that you change you mass-airflow sensor too. I have not researched the original equipment compared to what's available. Still others might suggest upgrading your throttle body (intake?) but again, I would research the effect this will have on power and fuel economy before attempting this. Doing all three would result in some significant improvements in horsepower (I am not sure whether fuel economy would also be preserved or improved with each). If you do all three, you may as well get some performance mufflers, and maybe pipes too (again, if the stock pipes don't provide enough flow as is). Each modification costs more or less than $300, so you do the math, $300, $600, $900, $1200 and eat my dust! I just installed a K & N Air Filter, while I research all of the above to see what the best fuel economy result is. Of course, having it haul astronimically quickly is cool too!!!

Grand Prix ignition shuts down after starting and running a short period will start back up and run fine until you shut it off and start it again why?

Ran into this same problem on my 1991 Grand Prix. Could drive it for awhile till it got up to normal operating temp. After that it would die again and would not start until cooled off. Turns out it was ignition control module. This part can be taken off and taken to an auto parts store to be tested. Once replaced, no more problems.

How do you change a water pump on a 1997 Pontiac grand prix gtp?

"G", I've clicked on the link you provided, and I'm not authorized to view it, since I'm not a memeber of that Forum. I've been trying for two days now to join, but their confirmation code never comes up. Could you get approval from the webmaster of that Forum to post the proceedure here? There seem to be quite a few of us fighting this same issue, it cost me a pulled tricep trying to get the power steering pump pulley off, so now it's either i get some help from the web or pay a mechanic to do it. I'd rather be my normal grease-under-the-nails cheapskate and do it myself if possible! Please help us out! Sorry, you do not leave a contact but that website changed their policy and removed their knowledge base postings. A dis-service to many people out there. Hope the following will help. 1) Drain the radiator. 2) Loosen the 4 bolts on the water pump pulley. You will remove the pulley and install it on the new pump. Just loosen the bolts 1/4" turn with the belt still on, this will prevent the pulley from turning. 3) Remove serpentine belt. 4) Remove 4 bolts and the pulley and set aside. 5) Remove two power steering pump bolts (15mm). You must do this because one of the bolts for the water pump is behind the PS pulley, and you can
