How do you replace a fuel filter on a 1999 Pontiac Sunfire?
If you go to advance auto, or auto zone and purchase a haynes manual for 10 to 20 dollars, it will describe in detail (including pictures) of this repair, and many more for this automobile.
What are the widest tires you can put on a Pontiac Sunfire?
Umm, just wide enough to not hit the fenderwells when you turn?
Seriously, If one of the guys or gals here don't know exactly, as I
don't, you could run the car into your local tire shop. Those guys
are pretty amazing and can probably give you a good idea in
just a minute's time.

I just searched the internet the last 4 weeks for the same answer. Go to a Dodge dealer. They have access to all dealer parts left in stock. The only part that I did find was along the top of the windshield and it was very expensive.
Why will your 97 sunfire only rev up to 4000 rpm?
It is a safety feature built into the computer software. It is called a "Rev Limiter". It works by cutting the fuel at the injectors.
Re-seat them again and make sure the O-rings are new replacements for a proper seal
Agree: I had two go bad in my '96. Replaced them both and used new O rings. It solved the problem. My mechanic used some Vasaline type stuff to lube the O rings when she installed them. I don't know if this is absolutely necessary or not, but they
never leaked after we twisted on the injectors a little bit to get the O rings really seated. If the injector still leaks, I'd replace it. It's a $75 part, but worth the piece of mind and the improved gas mileage. Use a new O ring if you do replace the injector.

What size Allen wrench to remove a 2005 Pontiac sunfire front caliper?

How do you replace the front turn signal bulbs on a 1999 Pontiac Sunfire?
On a 99 sunfire if you open the hood there is a plastic piece that is attached by little plastic fastners that cover the radiator and right where the hood latch is. Youll need to remove these fastners by placing a wide flat head screw driver between the circular head of the fastner and the circular base of the fastner and pop them out on by one. try to remove one of the fastners in a inconspicuos location if your not sure how to remove them. its fairly easy once you know how they work. then you will need a socket set. there are two bolts on the top of the headlight but under the plastic peice that hold the headlights in place. remove these two bolts (two for each headlight) this will allow you to remove the headlight assembly but don't pull it completely out there are wires that run in to the headlight to supply power to you bulbs. After that under the headlights is the turn signal assembly you should be able to replace the bulb buy unlocking it from the turn signal with out removing the turn signal assembly itself.
To change ""other bulbs"" such as the third brake lights on the sunfire you have to have a star key to remove the assembly and gain access to the bulb for replacment.
Hope this helps

I have had this problem on my girlgfriends car. Check the wiring running to the lights behind the drivers side headlight under the battery box. The wires were sealed with duct tape from the factory and the connections have just corroded. It's actually a pretty easy fix but dont put it off too long because you eventually wont have lights at all. .
My "96 has been losing a bit of coolant somewhere and I wondered the same thing.
I had visions of dumping some of that silver powdery stuff in the reservoir and having it clump up in there.
I found some liquid based leak sealer at AutoZone. The directions recommend using 1/2 the container for a 4 cylinder engine. I added it to the reservoir and it seems to be working.
However, don't make the same mistake I made. I forgot to shake the bottle well before starting to dump it into the reservoir. There IS a semi solid component to that stuff. When I put it in, what came from the bottle, following all of it's liquid part, can only be described as looking like a "dog gift" that you would clean out of your yard. I had to guestimate how much of that "gift" was about 1/2 of what was in the bottle. Thankfully, it seems to have dissolved readily in the coolant.
If I end up using the rest of it, I'll be sure to add a little coolant to the bottle and shaking vigorously!

How do you repair daytime running lights on a 1997 Pontiac Sunfire?
When my Sunfire had this problem, the cause was a burned out high-beam section of the left headlight. It appears that in the daytime running light mode, the high-beam sections are connected in series and if one burns out, they both go out. (Just like XMAS lights) I found this by turning on the headlights and walking out to the front of the car and looking to see if both lamps were on during both low and high-beam operation.
The bulb is easy to replace by removing a couple of screws and removing the entire assembly and from the rear of the lamp housing, simply twist the bulb counter clockwise and out it comes.
I decided to replace both the left and right bulbs while I was at it and the package came with two bulbs anyway.
Hope this solves your problem.

Why would a 2000 Sunfire pour antifreeze out from under the over flow?
Hello, I have a 97 Sunfire GT and had the same problem. The cap on the overflow bottle is pressurized and mine lost it's pressure. Once I replaced that I didn't have the problem anymore. !
You could also have a hole or crack in the overflow container
the horn relay on my '03 sunfire is under the dasboard taped to the wire bundle to the left side of the steering column.
Will a automotive code scanner obd-2 work on a 1997 Pontiac sunfire se?

Does a 1998 sunfire gt coupe come standard with the 2.4 liter engine?
I checked the Haynes manual, but it isn't specific about which models came with the 2.4 engine. However, I'm under the impression that the 2.4 is one of the things that make the GT a GT. I found this quote at wikipedia; "The GT package was 2-door only and included a sporty front bumper, fog lights, twin exhausts, 16-inch alloy wheels and the more powerful LD9 engine. In the US, only the coupe was available from 2003 to 2005, becoming the only two-door car on Pontiac's lineup between the demise of the Pontiac Firebird in 2002 and the relaunch of the Pontiac GTO in 2004."
Where is the air conditioner fuse in a 2003 Pontiac sunfire?
There are two places, that I know of, where fuses are located. One is the fuse panel
which on my older model, is at the left side of the dash. You have to open the driver's door to access it. The other place is under the hood on the driver's side fender well.
What does a gas mileage of 30 mpg mean?
It means that the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) rates the vehicle as being able to drive 30 miles on one gallon of petrol, under ideal circumstances and conditions, and driving in a prescribed manner, at a speed deemed "optimum" to attain such mileage.
How do you check the transmission fluid on a 1998 Pontiac sunfire THAT HAS NO DIPSTICK?
GM never put a dipstick in the 1998 Pontiac Sunfire. They call it a sealed transmission. If you aren't noticing any leaking from the transmission under the car (pools of red fluid when you've been parked) then your fluid is probably not low. But in my opinion it is always good to change the transmission filter ever 10,000 miles or so. Your transmission pan does not have a drain plug so you will need to remove the pan, drop one corner slowly to help drain the fluid into a bucket, finish removal of the transmission pan, clean all the crud out of there such as dirt/metal flakes, replace the filter, replace the gasket (make sure you get all of the old gasket material off the pan before putting the new one on), then refill the transmission fluid back to the level stated in your owner manual. I believe its 7 quarts but always check your owners manual! I have to differ on the fact that some of the 1998 Sunfire 4 door sedans did have a traditional style tube and stick! These were in the 2200 or 2.2 model engines. I own one and and needed to replace the dip stick, I spent hours in junk yards and still never found the right one. So I assume they are not all that common. as such the prior contributor probably didn't know they existed. I myself was stunned when I saw that red dip stick ring sitting there on top the engine (Who whoulda thunk it?)
Where can you purchase an odometer bulb for a 1999 Pontiac Sunfire?
YOU CANT BUY A BULB CALL YOU PONTIAC DEALER AND HE WILL EXPLAIN WHAT HAS TO BE DONE
The entire cluster has to be replaced. This has happened to me 2 times now. The part is about $300 and the dealer HAS to install it. It takes about 3 hours to be done. This is something that you have to do if you ever want to sell the car, since you have to have the mileage.
I have had the bulb on the odometer out for two years now. you can still read the mileage by pointing a flashlight to the odometer, from the side.
The Cluster DOES NOT have to be replaced, i fixed mine for less then $1. And if your dealer charged you 3 hours labour they ripped you off, it takes about 30 minutes to replace the cluster. Remove your top dash pad (remove airbag fuse first), remove your cluster, take off the back cover (6 screws) and then locate the odometer bulb, turn and remove it, then solder a small 12v bulb from your local auto parts store in its place, very simple and a hell of alot cheaper
All I did was remove the screws for the dash removed the dash then removed the cluster and the 6 screws. I then went to my local scrap yard did the same thing to a scraped sunfire there. They did not charge me for the bulb since I removed it my self. Only a Sucker would bring it to a dealership. I'm a girl and I had no problem took me less than an hour!
Question for Last answer:
WHAT IS THE PART NUMBER TO THE BULB?
