How do you change airintake filter for Porsche cayenne turbo 2004?
Located on both the left and right front of the vehicle engine compartment, you'll need to remove the plastic panels that cover the sides of the engine compartment. I like to remove the plastic twist screws with a dime to avoid scratching them. A quarter turn does sit. Some are stubborn, so you might have to use a finger nail or something similar in thickness to get under the screw to lift it up. Just push them back in when replacing, no need to turn them. The filters are in the large black rectangle shaped plastic boxes with two spring loaded stainless steel clips on top, about 3 inches apart at the front sides of the engine compartment. The left side can be accessed with removing the black plastic cap on the silver plastic cover that sits over the spark plug coils. Just pull it off. Now you need to release the spring loaded clip on the wiring bracket under the black cap, you need a flat headed screw driver to do this. This gets the wiring harness out of the way. Now undo the spring loaded clips on the top of the air filter housing and pull it open, allowing access to the filter.
The one on the right is basically the same process. Remove black plastic cap and wiring harness. After removing the black plastic covers and screws you'll see the black box with the spring clips on top. Remove them and you have access to the filter. You now need the filter rejuvenation kit, comes with a cleaner spray and oil. No need to buy new filters if the others can be cleaned and oiled. I just bend them a bit and shake them getting the major chunks of crap out. The directions say you can wash them with soap and water but I like the spray cleaner. Spray them on cardboard and newspapers to absorb the cleaner. You also have a cabin filter which is located under the glove box. Use a trouble light etc. and you'll see a rectangular shaped black plastic box. Undo the two screws to access the filter. This one you have to replace.

How do you repair a 944 hand brake?
What exactly is wrong with it? If this is an early car, pre '85.5 then it's easier to just remove it and replace it with a handle from a later car '85.5+. It's a direct bolt in and it's much more solid, the early ones tended to have lots of slop in them and the catcher would go past the teeth causing it to not work afterwards. If you don't want to change it you will have to remove the assembly disassemble it and then reset the catcher and then when you get done adjust your parking brake shoes and your brake cable so that it catches before the handle goes up that high.

How do you override hood lock on 1999 Porsche 996 cabriolet when the battery is disconnected?
Its a simple fix.....have had this happen to multiple of times since i use my car a few times
1. take a paper clip, open it in to a u shape, plug it on both ends of C3 fuse. Now be smart, take a jumper cable, connect red to middel of paper clip, and negative (usually black to ground (left side to you, doors open, bare metal). connect the other side of jumper cable to appropriate positive and negative cable. Insert key in the door lock, play around with it at the same time pulling the latch to open the hood......it worked.
2. take a long standard screwdriver, insert in the middle of front and back latch handles, there is this middle u shape thing (not shure what it is) but play a little juggling the dang thing, while you are doing that, pull up on the front hood lever...worked too.
honestly, i tried the 9 volt battery and cables from auto store, did not work for me
good luck, i know its frustrating

Why is my 79 Porsche's clutch grinding when released but pushed in it stops?
Any clutch that is 'pushed in' is basically disengaged. When you push in the pedal, the two plates that compose the clutch assembly are separated from each other. If you have grinding when these parts are pressed together but hear nothing when they are apart, the problem should seem obvious. The plates are no longer working as they should and probably need replacement. One other possibility is that the clutch is operating normally and some other part of the drivetrain is damaged. The effect of this would be similar and would only be present when the clutch is engaged. In any case, an inspection is necessary to further diagnose the problem.

I made $92,000 last year in the San Francsisco Bay Area. I am a mechanical engineer by training who does a lot of repair and custom work as well. I am not sure how this compares to other Porsche mechanics.
It really depends on how much you want to make. Most Porsche mechanics work on flat rate so its really a matter of will. I made almost 80 my first year out in south florida. There are alot of guys who have been doing this alot longer for the same car line making less
