Daniel prophesys that at "the time of the end" [the time of the end of man's allotted time of rule on earth]:

Bible prophecy looks out on the world from the focal point of JERUSALEM. So, the Beast [King of the North] will "occupy" the Middle East... and its oil fields!

Russia and China also have a vested interest in Middle East oil. And they would not take, lightly, Europe's "rapid-response" invasion and takeover of the oil fields of that region. And the hordes of a Chinese/Russian military coalition headed down from "Northeast" of Jerusalem, would surely be "alarming" to the King of the North.
