O'Reilly Auto Parts has the Monroe reflex which in my eyes are going to be the top of the O.E.M. replacement. Ive sold many of them and heard the difference they made. to do this, you need to enter the code, then whilst the engine is running, you need to remove the fuse marked BIC/Ilum, turn the engine off and on and then replace it, the drawback with this, is that the engine management warning light will flash when the engine is running at below 1500rpm, also the immobilizer light will flash, this can be turned off by holding in the central locking button for a few seconds.
There is a drain hole at the bottom of the door that gets blocked. If you pull the seal off the bottom of the door near the end of the door furthest away from the hinge and run your hand along the bottom of the door you should be able to locate it and remove the blockage. You may need something like a screwdriver to poke in depending on how badly blocked it is.

No, the timing belt is under a cover and you'll probably never see it unless you remove a lot of peripheral covers and other hardware. The alternator is run by a serpentine belt.

As with all Renault cars, you need to read the handbook carefully. The weights section is usually towards the end of the book. You will probably find two figures for the towing weight. One "with driver only", the other for "all other situations". You will find it difficult to get a straight answer from Renault as to the meaning of "all other situations" but effectively it means that if there is anything or anyone else in the car other than the driver, the the towing weight limit can drop perhaps 300kg or so. Sounds absurd, but that's the way it is. Just leave your wife at home. Don't carry a toolbox, leave the picnic hamper behind.
