Idealy you should always replace the head bolt. most cases it is mandatory. check your specs. if the tightening sequence finishes with a 1/4 turn or some non foot pound reference then the head bolt must be replaced.

i hope i am correct if a diesel hasn't actually got spark plugs only ejectors

its near the battery and it is a black box with 2 wiring plugs underneath it.

if it is a K series engine as I imagine it will be the torque setting is, in 3 stages,first 15lbft/20Nm , second mark bolt heads and turn all half turn (180 degrees) third and then half turn again. Looking into the engine from the front of the car, left is the timing belt end, back row is nearest the windscreen then the tightening sequence is back row left to right 9,5,1,3,7 front row left to right 10,6,2,4,8

Depends on the year of the car. Rover quoted 72K miles on earlier models I've known them go longer than that but I would eer on an early change [36-48K tops) for peace of mind ( It will be mighty expensive if it breaks). Incidentaly the 2Ltr diesel has two belts, one at each end of the head. The front one drives the cam and the rear one drives the injection pump. The change interval, I belive, depends on whether the belt tensioners are manual or automatic, early engines have manual tensioners and a longer change interval than the later auto type.

get gearbox number off gear box and look it up online.other than that try counting the different positions of gears

The fan continuing to run after turning off is normal it just proves how hot the engine is getting (overheating). Your promblem is why is it overheating? Being a 214 I would suspect head gasket but it could be a coolant circulation problem (thermostat failed in closed position, water pump worn, or simply a partially blocked radiator) If it isn't the head gasket it soon will be if you don't sort it on this engine.

line both cam wheels up at TDC (top dead centre) the botom pulley will have markings on to line that up as well then spin engine over 2 revolutions before starting to make sure pistons are clearing the valves as the last thing you want is to bend any valves as then you will be looking at a new cylinderhead

hi its to do with your airbag sensor usually found at the front bumper looks like a small black box with wires at rear hope this helps

Hi the starter motor is under the engine on the right had side you will need ro remove the air filter and casing this is the black box also on the right hand side of the engine

Oh those are really good fun rear of the engine is a black pipe approx 2" diameter where this pipe fits to the water pump is where you will find it I wish you the best of luck as these are hard to get to don't forget to bleed the system after you have changed the stat

initially you tighten all bost to 28 newton metres then you angle tighten by 90 degrees leave for 5 mins and angle tighten by another 90 degrees this information was supplied to me by a trained rover mechanic i did it on my metro 1.1 on a j reg and it was fine

does your car offer to start but doesn't catch? if it does then you have lined up the top pulley marks the wrong way. check that you have the dowels on the inlet and outlet pulleys facing the right way one should be upwards the other downwards it should tell you in your haynes manual which one should be up and the other down

R65 type transmission. Remove the air cleaner. Working in the engine compartment slide the clutch cable and fitting from the clutch release lever on the top of the gearbox. Release the cable sheath grommet from the bracket on the gearbox. Working in the drivers footwell release the 3 securing clips and remove the fusebox cover. Release the securing clips and remove the driver's side lower fascia panel . Reach up behind the fascia and unhook the end of the clutch cable from the pedal. Working in the engine compartment pull the cable through the bulkhead. Note cable routing and release the cable from any other retaining clips. Refitting Lubricate the cable bulkhead bush with rubber grease. Route the cable through the engine compartment and throught the bulkhead. Working in the drivers footwell reconnect the cable to the foot pedal then push the rubber bush on the cable fully into the bulkhead tube until the steel washer on the cable seats on the tube. Pull the clutch lever through its full range of movement to set the cable self adjustment mechanism. PG1 type transmission Remove air cleaner. Jack up front of vehicle onto axle stands. Working in the engine compartment slide the clutch cable and fitting from the clutch release lever on the top of the gearbox. Release the cable sheath grommet from the bracket on the gearbox. On right hand drive models release the cable from the clip attached to the coolant hose. Rest as for R65

Airbag system is not working correctly.
