What torque is required to fit a rover metro head?

The torque required to fit a Rover Metro cylinder head typically ranges from 20 to 25 Nm (Newton-meters) for the initial stages of tightening, following a specific sequence to ensure even pressure. After the initial torque, a final tightening stage may require around 60 Nm, depending on the specific engine variant. Always refer to the manufacturer’s service manual for the precise torque specifications and sequence for your specific model.

The side lights on my rover 200 come on automatically when the ignition is engaged?

The side lights on your Rover 200 are likely designed to activate automatically as a safety feature when the ignition is turned on. This could be part of the vehicle's lighting system to enhance visibility during low-light conditions. If you prefer to control the side lights manually, you may want to check the vehicle's settings or consult the owner's manual for options regarding the lighting system. If there are any concerns about the functionality, having a professional technician inspect the system could be beneficial.

When do you change your cambelt on a rover 220 diesel?

Depends on the year of the car. Rover quoted 72K miles on earlier models I've known them go longer than that but I would eer on an early change [36-48K tops) for peace of mind ( It will be mighty expensive if it breaks). Incidentaly the 2Ltr diesel has two belts, one at each end of the head. The front one drives the cam and the rear one drives the injection pump. The change interval, I belive, depends on whether the belt tensioners are manual or automatic, early engines have manual tensioners and a longer change interval than the later auto type.

Why does fan keep running after engine turned off temp gauge rising almost to red on rover 214?

The fan continuing to run after turning off is normal it just proves how hot the engine is getting (overheating). Your promblem is why is it overheating? Being a 214 I would suspect head gasket but it could be a coolant circulation problem (thermostat failed in closed position, water pump worn, or simply a partially blocked radiator) If it isn't the head gasket it soon will be if you don't sort it on this engine.
