The answer is: It depends. It depends on how disabled you have become, due to arthritis. You will have to have medical documentation to prove that you have become so disabled that you cannot work any longer. There is a long process of written documentation and face-to-face interview w/Social Security to go through and an even longer wait time to determine if you've been found eligible for benefits. BUT, it is worth the effort if you have a legitimate disability; and even if you are denied benefits the first time, do challenge their findings. For many people, they are automatically denied in the first round - it's a given for many many people. So immediately challenge and argue your case.
