After water pump or t-stat replacement, this is how. First, close the pet-cock at the RF side of your radiator. Make sure to use "Toyota" brand coolant and buy the concentrate. Mix it to a 50/50 ratio with water. Fill up your radiator. Make sure the overflow bottle is empty. Once the radiator is near full, use needle-nose pliers or a channel-lock wrench to remove the clamp on the upper radiator hose. Fill the hose with coolant, then re-install. This will fill up the thermostat housing and cover the CTS(Coolant Temp Sensor). Note: Make sure to remove the hose from the top of the radiator next to the filler cap: Start the engine and let it warm up. Once the t-stat opens, the coolant should start moving through the radiator. Make sure to leave the radiator cap off. Top-off the radiator after it warms up. Replace the rad cap. Fill the overflow bottle half-way. Drive it for 5-10 miles. Make sure to run the heat on full blast while your driving. After the drive, park the car and let it cool down. Remove the rad cap only after the engine has cooled down completely. Top-off the radiator again and fill the overflow bottle half-way. Drive the car for 30+ miles, then check the radiator again. You may need to top-off once more _-+=

The thermostat housing is located on the driver side between the distributor and the transmission. There are two 12mm bolts holding the the thermostat housing. You may want to disconnect the white colored sensor before removing the housing. The thermostat is located underneath the housing.

.043 is the correct gaping for the plugs in a 1993 Toyota tercel. This is taken rite from the Hayes repair manual

The brake pads will heat up even with a little preasure on the disk. As they heat they expand. That will make them progressivly apply more preasure. I suspect you may have a bad brake line or your brake pedal may be stuck part way down. How long has it been since you have replaced your brake hoses? They may look good on the outside but be constricted on the inside. ��~ you might want to check fluid level in master cyl. expands if too full will lock brakes up has no were to go but calipers and or wheel clys.

My only knowledge is that the tercel may have exchangeable parts with the Paseo.

The Paseo uses struts in the front as well as the rear.

If it's still the stock A/C then you're using R-12 freon, which only a certified shop can refill. If you've retrofit it and are using R-134, you can buy refills at any auto store. Some come with a refill hose and gauge where you to slip on and fill. See and follow included directions on item or ask the local shop personell for help.

According to my 1993 Paseo owners manual - 182kPa (that's 26 psi)

Anywhere between the recommended 26 and the max pressure stamped on your tire should be fine.

I've had them at 32 before.

Higher Tire Pressure causes tires to wear slower, ride harder, and will save you a bit of fuel (1mpg perhaps)

Softer tires have better grip

How you like your tires is up to you

It could be anything, but the most common problem is the O2 sensor.

Assuming it is a manual transmission: Remove the lower drain plug on the transaxle body and allow all existing fluid to drain completely. Replace the drain plug and remove the fill valve, located higher on the transaxle body. You'll need a pump assembly and vinyl hose to pump the transmission fluid into the transaxle. Any good auto parts store sells these plastic pumps at nominal prices. The pump assembly screws onto the top of the transmission fluid bottle. Pump the new oil through the vinyl hose into the transaxle until it begins to come back out of the fill hole. Then screw the fill plug back in. It a very easy process once you've found the drain and fill plugs and get yourself situated underneath the transaxle.

Fan Relay is located in the engine compartment on the right hand side. It is in a plastic compartment usually with a white outline showing all the fuses, if not definitely inside under the lid.

It will show you which one it is, but if i remember right, its the bottom one closest the front end. Round and big.

The fuel filter in my '92 Paseo is a large black plastic affair mounted on the firewall on the passenger side near the steering column. Very expensive but easy to R & R. The replacement was designed to look like the original except the inlet and outlet were exactly 180 degrees out. There is an arrow on the side to show the go-zinna and the go-zoutta.

You'll find it after you remove the air filter assembly on top of the trans axle housing. There are only two electrical connectors there. One is the backup light switch the other is a thick ground wire. You'll be able to tell the difference easily. The ground wire is thicker.

you can run a ignition diagnostics to check the alternater, starter and the battery, if it wont start, its probably somewhere in one of those

i take it you tried the fuses if ok try checking the rear bulbs

Are you sure the EGR valve is bad? I have a 96 Paseo and thought I needed a new 1 but the only problem was insufficient air flow, after soaking it in carb cleaner and blowing out all the gunk(carbon build-up) it worked fine and I was able to put it back on the car. Good luck.

I'm pretty sure the fuseable link is underneath the battery...

Check all hoses, Look around the water pump for telltale trails of coolant.

It may also be a head gasket. Start your car and then go round back to the tail pipe. once the car has run for a while, there should not be any sign of steam nor a smell of coolant coming from the exhaust pipe. If there is, you'll likely need to replace the head gasket

Bad water pump, stuck thermostat, clogged radiator, blown head gasket, trapped air in cooling system, defective cooling fan, defective thermal relay, or a combination of these.

My 92 Paseo mileage is VERY sensitive to tire pressure. There is a tire pressure sweet spot that you kinda have to hunt around for to get optimum mileage. However, one low tire makes a real difference. Last time this happened to me, I was nearly stranded out in the desert on a trip I have taken every work day for 12 years. I had a low tire, did not feel a hint of a problem driving 60-65 mph, but noticed I was using 3 times the usual amount of gasoline. I was just lucky I had filled up that morning and I was able to make it to a gas station. So other than a very slow leak in your gas tank or fuel lines, which is extremely rare, the next easiest item to check is the air filter, then the ignition system (plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor). However, the fuel filter is a very likely culprit. If your plugs look good and the rotor/cap look good, then consider the fuel filter (it's easy to change out but very annoying because of its location and expense).
