Why would a 1995 Toyota Tercel have no spark?

bad plugs, wires, distributer if it has one, bad igniter, faulty wiring.....

Your 1995 tercel brake light won't come on and it is not the bulb what can it be?

Only three major components in the brake light system: Fuse, Switch, bulb.

Fuse is in the main interior panel just above the hood release.

Switch is part of the pedal assembly under the dash.

At the bare minimum you will need a twelve volt test light or meter to check for voltage at each of these components. You should have power through the fuse to one side of the switch at all times. When the brake is depressed, the switch closes and 12V should appear on the other side of the switch as well. If both those checks are good, move to the build and look for twelve volts at the bulb when the pedal is depressed. If twelve volts appears on both sides of the bulb you have a broken ground wire. If no twelve volts is present you have a break in the harness from the switch to the bulb.

Where is the starter motor in a 1984 Toyota pickup?

If you can't see it easily, on any car, try following the positive (hot) lead from the battery. It normally connects to the solenoid, which if not part of the starter, is very close.

What if the check engine light is on in your 96 tercel you had it checked and they said it was the O2 sensor you replaced the sensor but the light is still on Does it need some time to reset or what?

I just bought a 1996 tercel and the check engine light came on and stayed on. My friend is studying to be an ASE mechanic and he hooked his Solus Pro, which is a sophisticated car computer, and he came up with the same code, O2 sensor. After running a complete test he reset the codes to 0. I haven't had the check engine light come on since. My friend said that if it does come on again we will run a deeper scan and a road test. It has been two weeks so far.

Why is the idle fluctuating on a 1991 Toyota Tercel?

I have found that replacing the PCV valve AND chasing down any exhaust manifold leaks usually does the trick.

How do you set the timing on a 94 tercel 3E engine?

i just set the timing on my 91 tercel... i also have the 3EE engine... difference may be that mine was SOHC and yours might be DOHC... your best bet is to spend $15 at autozone or advanced auto and pick up a HAYNES book for your year car.... it will have the timing marks and everything that you will need to know about fixing the timing... any kind of "timing" work should be done by a pro or someone with plenty of knowledge... one tooth off and the car will not run... it has to be EXACT, AGAIN IT HAS TO BE EXACT or you risk the chance of losing your gas mileage or even performance... hope i helped....

What does the check engine light indicate is wrong on a 1992 Toyota Tercel?

It is probably your EGR valve causing the check engine light. I recently bought a used 1997 Toyota Celica and had this exact problem. The new valve cost approximately $85 and fixed the problem right away.

How do you fix the seat belt light that stays on in a 1998 Toyota Tercel?

this is caused by one of two things. the drivers seatbelt receiver(the thing you put the belt into) has a sensor in it. find the wires that go to it and unplug the inline plug. the light should turn off. if it does not, try putting a jumper wire between the 2 terminals on the harness side (not the seatbelt side) if the light still stays on it needs a seatbelt assembly. its located low on the "b" pillar. you need to remove some trim pieces and a couple bolts to replace it. good luck!

How do you replace the wiper mechanism on a Toyota Tercel?

I'm not a mechanic, but I did a wiper overhaul on my wife's Tercel last weekend. Please stick with me even if I don't use the proper terms.

MOTOR: Disconnect the negative (black) terminal wire from the battery first, otherwise your tampering may set off your airbagsiif your car has that feature. Trust me, these things are expensive to replace, and you don't want to risk it. Next, disconnect the electrical plug from the motor, and unbolt the four bolts that connect the motor to the wall. The motor will still be connected by a rotating arm to the wiper transaxle inside.

    • Here's the part where most people find difficulty, as I certainly did. **

The rotating arm on the motor forms a ball, the socket for which is the end of the arm on the mechanism through the hole in the firewall. There is a small clip on the arm of the mechanism through the hole that you can use to hook the arm to the hole in the firewall to keep it stabalized while you work on it, and also so that you don't have to fish the arm out of the hole with a screwdriver when it becomes disconnected.

You can maneouvre the arm inside so that you can find this hook by manipulating the windshield wiper arms if you are having trouble, but be careful that you don't strip them. If your wiper arms do not move freely once the wiper motor is disconnected from the firewall, you've got a whole other problem regarding the freedom of movement of your wiper transaxle hinges, and you are at risk of stripping the delicate teeth that engage your wiper blades when the motor spins if you gorilla it into position. If the transaxle is siezed, you will have to remove everything from the top, and soak the siezed part in Varsol, and then try to make it swing freely again. Anyways. Back to the motor.

Once you get the inside arm stabilized against the firewall with the clip, your next task will be to get the ball out of the socket. There is a tool you can use, but if you carefully get a correctly sized crescent wrench in there, you can break the ball out of it. Another option available, if you can stabilize the rotating bar enough, is to undo the bolt that connects the rotating arm to the motor itself, thus avoiding the necessity to break the ball out of the socket.

Either way you do it, make a mental note, (or use a whiteout pen) to mark the position of the rotating arm when you haul it out; this way you can install the new motor in the same position; you'll want to do this because the wiper motor is on a patterned timer and the wipers will stop / start at wierd positions if you install it incorrectly.

As an obiter comment, the geniuses in Japan made the holes for the new wiper motor (the ones to bolt the motor to the firewall) too small for the old grommets (the rubber things through which the screws go), and you may have a mammoth task to try to get the damn thing bolted to the firewall again with the new motor. I ended up having to shave half of the rubber from each side of the grommets to get it to stick.

Another comment that needs to be made: Make sure the motor is properly grounded with the little wire that comes from the motor and grounds against one of the mounting screws. If the motor isn't grounded, the motor will not engage. Also, if you have everything connected, and it still doesn't work, try looking at the fuse. On the 91 tercel I worked on, I got all of this done and nothing worked. I almost found the nearest cliff until my wife asked about the fuse. (It was #20 under the kick panel next to the driver's left leg) Sure enough, blown.

The installation of the new motor is the reverse of the above; your only job will be to get the ball back into the socket, a task which cost me a bloody knuckle, but I always get a bloody knuckle.

How do you fix the tail lights remaining on after the car is shut down and the rear window brake light not working on a 1994 Toyota Tercel?

If it is the tail lights, it is the headlight switch. If it is the brake lights, it is probably the brake light switch. I really don't know how to replace the bulb in the 3rd light. change the brake light bulb first it may be shorted causeing the other problem

Why would a 1993 Toyota Tercel overheat if there no holes in the radiator or hoses?

Flush and clean the heater core. Also check your rad cap and maybe change the thermostat

Three are other factors. One situation I've come across over the years is the elctric fan that cools the radiator starts to wear which in turn causes it to stick. This fan due to it's location takes a real beating. Splashing, dust, bugs, and everything else. With a duel fan system, it can be one or both. Start your car let it warm up and observe the fan/s operation. If not this I would look into the relay, which is the second leading cause of overheating in my experiences.

Your water pump may be failing. If it fails (pump bearings, clogs, etc)your thermostast temp goes up because coolant in the water jackets of the engine are being heated to boiling, but not being pumped through the rad to cool. Also check the tightness of your belts, if they are loose, your water pump may not work well. Have you added water without adding coolant? Try a hydrometer and check the strength of your rad fluid.

Possible that head gasket could be bad. If you've done other things and still overheating. If your engine has got very hot in the past this could be your problem. With a aluminum head and cast iorn block these head gaskets can be blown very eaisly. If you run with this condition very long head damage will eventually occur.
