Turbo and Superchargers

Intercooler just refers to the radiator type device that cools the air that goes into the turbecharger.

Because of the customization and new turbo technology, timers, housings, wheels, boost controllers, I personally would only do turboes. They are more effiecient, easier to modify boost/up grade and are better on fuel economy.

Yes if boost is too high, fuel air ratio is not correct or the engines mechaincal parts are not up to the power level.

The bypass valve is a release which vents off pressure in a rapid de-acceleration situation. When the supercharger is producing boost and you abruptly let off the gas, closing the throttle plates, the boost has nowhere to go.

Depends on the car condition, normally 12-14 mpg.

The supercharger is an engine power adder for vehicles. It's purpose is to make an engine more powerful instead of using a larger heavier engine.

The Grand Prix GTP uses a supercharger on its V6 engine to make power levels comparable to some naturally aspirated V8 engines.

One way to gain a significant amount of horsepower in the 3.8l is to add a supercharger. For example, the RIPP supercharger made for Wranglers with the 3.8l.

I would just go with DIESEL and not GASOLINE

Several Engines are possible. My personal opinion is the 7MGTE is the best engine for the car, however the 2JZ-GTE found on 1993 and up will give you more power. Also, the 1JZ-GTE can be swapped in. Several other motors are available of course, such as the SR20 or the KA, and LS1 could even be dropped in if found wanting. However the 2JZ-GTE is probably your best bet, then the 7M.

Turbocharger is used to boost the air quantity in air fuel mixture with the help of exhaust gases coming from engine. Large amount of air fuel mixture helps to give more power output.

So to increase power output of our engine we use a turbocharger.

Never heard of it being done. Save up for a RWD or AWD car.

Exhaust gas from the engine spins a turbine. That energy is then used to compress air from the air filter and (force feed) it into the engine.

It works similarly to a supercharger. A supercharger uses a drive belt connected to the engine instead of exhaust pressure. The result is increased performance but decreased fuel economy.

In short, turbos make cars go faster. Significantly.

A couple things that you can do before altering the engine would be an aftermarket exhaust and a different sprocket set (a smaller rear sprocket will improve top end). Gaining speed will, most of the time, make you lose low end torque so talk to your local motorcycle repair shop for the best options for what you have in mind.

IDK if it will fit, but it did I dont think you could even get that turbo spooled up on a 3.9L engine.

The easiest way to do this would be to pull the 1.8 and drop in a 2.0 turbo from a 1st gen DSM (Talon, Eclipse or Laser). It should fit just fine, and the motor mounts should be the same. Be sure to get the wiring harness and ECU from the donor car!

There isnt one. Only the pop off valve set to to release if stock boost is exceeded in the intake manifold. Its a fail safe, not a performance component.

The B.O.V will need to be mounted to the surge pipe (pipe before throttle body) and tuned properly.
