How do you join a mercenary army?
1: Join the Military (Combat Arms.) 2: Apply for a Special Operations unit/training. 3: Serve your time; learn all you can, do the best you can. 4: Apply to "Private Military Companies" such as Blackwater, Triple Canopy, etc... 5: Congrats you are now a mercenary and probably working in the worst parts of the world! P.S. Not nearly as fun, or even close to as glamorous as you'd think.
How many soldiers constitute a army company?
The answer to your question depends on the mission of the company. Artillery units have batteries and Cavalry units have troops, both of which are basically the same as a company. Companies generally have between 70 and 200 soldiers. Combat Arms companies (such as infantry) have approximately 133 soldiers, but again, this is dependent on the type of company. Airborne units, Light Infantry units and Mechanized units differ based on their mission and method of employment. Military Police companies (Combat Support) have approximately 150 soldiers, normally divided into 5 platoons (4 MP platoons and a Headquarters platoon). This is also not a hard and fast rule because of different missions and support roles.

There are also approximately 10,000 MIAs, who may or may not be dead. There are nearly 60,000 names on the Vietnam wall now. We have been adding over the last few years the names of the veterans who have passed on. The numbers were approx. 58,929 last I looked.

What are facts about the Battle of Hamburger Hill?
The Battle of Hamburger Hill (Ap Bia Mountain May 10-20, 1969) occurred during Operation Apache Snow, when US High Command decided to eliminate NVA Forces re-establishing themselves in and around the A Shau Valley; largely due to the previous TET offensive that had occurred earlier in 1968. Approximately 1800 men from 3 US Battalions of the 101st Airborne (Airmobile) Division were lifted into the area by "sticks" of 16 Slicks (Hueys), totalling 64 helicopters near the 970 meter tall mountain. Other ground battalions "swepted" for the NVA westward towards Laos. Ten Batteries of US Artillery (60 guns) supported the fight from 5 surrounding Firebases. US Fighter bombers blasted the hillsides for about an hour, followed by US Attack Helicopter Gunships with a few minutes of prep firing. The brunt of the fight was laid on the 3/187th Infantry (101st Abn (Ambl); over 50% casualties. When a US unit loses fifty per cent of their unit, they are rated, "NO-LONGER COMBAT EFFECTIVE." Although the average US Infantry Unit during the Vietnam War was averaged at about 600 men, at authorized strength; Nearly any Vietnam Veteran will state that "Nearly ALL" US units in the field in Vietnam were "under strength." Meaning that a 600 man battalion was more likely 400 to 500 men. 40 man platoons were often 30 man platoons, etc. Total US Casualties after the fight was estimated at approximately 70 dead and nearly 400 wounded. The hill was taken. 1969 was the year "Man Landed on the Moon." And MOST people in the US were wondering why a "World War 2" type battle was occurring in the "Space Age!" The Battle sparked an immediate CONTROVERSY. When the Generals involved were asked (By the press) why they just didn't "...B-52 the NVA off the mountain top...", the Generals replied, "...people have to learn you don't win battles by air power alone, it still takes men on the ground to win battles..." Most US Generals fighting in the Vietnam War WERE Veterans of World War 2. WWII was won by those men fighting many "Hamburger Hills" during World War 2. And Vietnam would be fought the same way!

Anyone is entitled to become Prime Minister if they are a British national- it requires no formal qualifications or University degrees, nor any substantial background in finance or buisness. But it IS necessary to have developed political experience- you need to have belonged to a political party of your choice for a significant number of years, and to have served for some time in local or regional Government as an elected Councillor.
This will stand you in good stead to stand as a Parliamentary candidate at a general election, provided that the party in your constituency is prepared to back your candidacy- if you are elected, you become an official Member of Parliament and begin as a 'back bencher', an ordinary MP representing your electorate with no ministerial position. You will need to have served as such for several years in order to impress the leader of your Party in the House of Commons that you have good credentials to be considered to rise above this rank- that you have the intelligence, leadership qualities, and all-round political ability to hold down a Ministerial role. If your Party is in Opposition, you can become Shadow Minister for a given aspect of government- if it is the Governing party, you assume the job and become part of what is called the Cabinet- the group of MPs who actually govern the nation. If you do well at your post, then you can in time be considered for election as Party Leader if enough of your Parliamentary colleagues support you.
The only basic credentials for standing for Parliament are that you have to be over 21 years old and of sound mind. Although an impressive academic CV is not necessary, most Prime Ministers DO have a background in either higher education or as big buisness executives, or as prominent figures in the world of fianance. John Major had no University degree, but he had worked as a high-flying financial executive before he entered politics. Some politicians get to become Prime Minister remarkably young- for instance, David cameron and Tony Blair were both only in their mid 40s when they took over the job. But you need to be really single-minded and quite ruthlessly ambitious to achieve this- many politicians serve out their entire working lives as back benchers without ever receiving a Ministerial portfolio.

Why did the founding fathers make the President the commander-in-chief of the military?
That was to insure that a military coup was virtually impossible. Washington had been the head of the army, and it made sense to allow him to carry on with that position, and, in the time of crisis a singular voice would be able to act in the national interest.
Along the same lines, it insured that the Civilian Government was the legitimate superior of the military. That is, that the military was legally subservient to the civilian government. This is an important (if often overlooked) design feature of the American government form, whereas the military is discouraged from influencing governmental decisions.
