This is the answer! We burned out the yellow white wire to the dimmer switch hooking up a radio. Reran that wire and hooked it up to the yellow white wire and now we have low beams. High beams would work (if you held in on the arm, parking lights worked, but not the low beams. Replaced the k fuse (after a 4 day wait) and still nothing. Tried this and it worked!-Thank you:-)

Remove the ashtray
After you remove the ashtry, pull the cigarrete lighter out, pull the cover of the lighter out, remove two Philips screws and remove the box above the ashtray.

Sounds like your transmission is shot and the car won't go out of first gear. Then it dies to prevent the engine from blowing up. But don't take it from me - go to a Volvo mechanic.
Als Best Guess - Could be a clogged fuel filter. Enough fuel flow to idle but not enough to go.
Or it could be a Mas Airflow (MAF) sensor failure putting the injection system in limp home mode. Turn off the ignition, unplug the sensor and restart. If ir runs better but still has little power it could be the MAF.

All they need to be is flush with the grommet.

The valve in the hose can stick open and cause either no idle or fast idle. Try cleaning it with carb cleaner. If you have over 200,00 miles on the car the brushes in the valve motor may be worn out. # Air leaks: Listen for a sucking sound with a piece of hose held near your ear and the intake manifold.
