You can't, unless you're an engineer and proficient at welding. Well I guess if you really really wanted too you could. It would be a major under taking to say the least. They have two different front suspensions and they both mount differently. Not to mention the steering, etc. If you're looking at wanting a "beam" axle for a Baja, just get a standard beetle. If the Super body is good and the pan is bad you can just get a donor car and replace the pan. The Super is a couple feet longer so the '60 pan wouldn't fit either.

The engine number is stamped onto a flat surface, on the left hand side of the cylinder block close to clutch housing joint.Probably starts with "X". Check with your registration documents to confirm.

1 Disconnect the battery. 2 Unplugg the three electrical wires.(one may have a bolt) 3 Loosen the three support bolt. 4 Lift the alternater slightly with a crowbar to release the tension on the belt. 5 Remove the belt. 6 Remove the three support bolt and the alternater should come right off. If the engine is in the car..... after step 2 insert the following 2a. Remove Carburator and Intake manifolds where connected to the heads. This also means you remove the heater pipe and the rubber fittings. Make sure nothing falls into the resulting intakes in the heads after removing the intake pipes. Now loosen the alternator from the alternator stand and remove the belt. Also. remove 4 nuts that hold the cooling fan assembly(still connected to the alternator) to the doghouse. OK everything is loose now. 2b. Loosen the screws at the base of the doghouse- one on each side Maybe a short screwdriver will do it, maybe a wrench. 2c. Get a piece of wood and get ready.. now lift the doghouse and shove the wood in to raise the doghouse a couple inches. 2d. Loosen the nuts at the base of the generator stand and remove stand. Now everything falls out. 3. The alternator comes out with the cooling fan attached in the rear; this needs to be removed and reused, as does the inner pully. You will need a 36mm socket for the fan end and a flat screwdriver jammed between the alternator housing and inner pully on the other end to successfully break it free. You may also need a gear puller if the fan and inner pully do not agree with coming off the alternator shaft once the nuts are removed. Also be aware that there is a Woodruff key on both ends which will likely fall off; they must be reused (it prevents the fan/pully from spinning on the shaft.) (Note: If you end up buying a large 36mm socket, it can also used to remove the rear wheel drums when doing brake/bearing replacement. You'll probably find it needs a large 3/4" drive, but a 3/4" to 1/2" adapter will do, assuming you have a 1/2" ratchet or breaker bar.) Its a frustrating job that will take you several hours, but very satisfying when you realize how much money you saved doing it yourself, and hey, You Did IT!

The front speaker sizes are 6 1/2". The rear are also 6 1/2".

It is located on the engine block just below and to the left of the distributor. It has a big nut on it with a wire connection coming out of it. BE CAREFUL replacing this as it is very easy to break. Just hand tight, then a little more...

Remove Wolfsburg badge, remove brown cable. Unscrew nut size 32 from the shaft. Take away the wheel. On some models (Type I's and Karmann Ghias), the brown cable is not connected to anything, it sits in an insulating sleeve in the end of the shaft and all you see is a brass contact. If you ground the brown wire with your wrench/socket, the horn will sound. A little penetrating oil between the shaft splines and the wheel hub will make life easier.

2000 VWs use ODB2. There are some test equipment that do not conform the initialization specs on ISO 9141-2, implemented by VW on some cars, models 1999 to 2001, resulting in a communication problem. If you are having this problem getting smog check, and you have no aftermarket equipment on the car that could be incorrectly installed, then I would suggest to stop by the dealership.

behind the cooling fan on air cooled engines or on the top left on water cooled

this happened to us a couple of times. we believe it is caused by an air bubble in the brake lines, because pumping the brakes only makes it worse and if you leave it alone for about an hour, it fixes itself. i dont know if there is such a thing as flushing the brake lines, but you could look into it. we would like to fix the problem once and for all, but truthfully are afraid it might end up being a huge, expensive job.

Count back 8 digits from the end of your serial number (VIN). A 01 has a 1, and a 02 has a 2.

The 8th digit from the right, that tells the model year, period. It's an international digit for year model, in all types of vehicles

If the 8th digit back is a 1, the year model is 2001, regardless of production date. 2000 and older stopped at the end of the alphabet (no Z, it can look like a 2), so if it's a Y, it's a 2000, X is 1999, and so on. No U's, Q's, O's, or I's either. Starts with A for 1980. A build date of 1/1/01 can technically be called a 2002 model. The 8th digit back is it for year model.

So, for your Vin# the Eighth # from the right is a 2 so it's a 2002

my 1998 vr6 jetta gets approximately 23 mpg in city driving with 5 speed transmission.

There is sring clip on the front of the seat on the right hand side (if you are sitting on the seat your right hand side). Move the seat as far forward as you can and then with a scredriver press the clip towards the floor. You will need a light to see this clip. It took me a few days to figure out how to remove the seta.

Not without an incredible amount of modification. 1962 Beetles use "swing arm" suspension. The transmission has the axles attached through U-joints. At the wheel end, there is a spring plate with a hole in it for the axles to pass through. 1974 Beetles have "independent rear suspension." There is a constant-velocity joint on both ends of each axle, there's both the spring plate and a diagonal stiffener, and there's a bracket on the frame to hold the stiffener.

Remove the respective fuse, or a more effective method: remove the corresponding (red) wire from the in back of the ignition switch. This is the most sure-fire way to insure your bug from coming up missing, aside from removing the battery or the steering wheel. Take the cable that runs from the coil to the distributor with you. You can swap fuses around or reconnect the switch wire and steal the car anyway, but you're not going anywhere if the coil wire is gone.

Open the hood(front). Pull out the spare tire. On the drivers side, you'll see a round plate held in by a sheet metal screw. Remove the screw, and plates, and you will be looking at the top of the steering box. There should be a plastic plug there. Pop it out with a screwdriver, and add the reqired amount. Don't fill it all the way to overflow. Plug in. Plate on. Tire in. And drive.
