What brake fluid does a 1971 vw beetle take?
It takes the same "DOT 3" type brake fluid most cars take.
You have to decide whether you want an oil temperature or a cylinder head temperature gauge. The procedure's basically the same--run a wire between the engine compartment and the dashboard, install the gauge and the sensor, connect both to the wire, then hook up a ground and a 12v line. Oil temp sensors either replace the dipstick or go around the drainplug--I think the dipstick sensor is better because it can't be torn off if you hit a serious pothole. Cylinder head temp sensors go around your number-three plug.

How do you remove the exterior handle of the sliding door on a 1988 Chevy Vandura 20?
I'm not sure if a "88 Vandura is the same as a 91 Chevy G20 but here goes anyway... Once you've removed the side sliding door interior handle and cover plate you will notice a square "rod" sticking through the middle of the door hardware. This "rod" is where the interior door handle was attached. It goes through a round piece that holds the door hardware together. The square "rod" is an extension of the exterior door handle. No matter how hard you try,you can not pull the exterior door handle off of its shaft. The only way to remove the handle is cut it off but you don't want to do that. It is possible to remove the exterior door handle and shaft from the hardware but it ain't easy....... Here's what you do..... The exterior door handle and hardware were assembled at the Chevy plant and not meant to come apart or break for that matter. That is why it is so difficult to remove the exterior handle and shaft....it was "pressed in" at the factory.... What you do is get a small "bearing puller" that will fit around the shaft and against the handle. Also get 2 6" pieces of redi rod that screw into the bearing puller. Get 2 nuts for each redi rod. You'll also need something to protect your door when you screw down on it with the redi rod. I used 2 pieces of 1/8" sheet metal about 8" long and 4" wide. Maybe something thin like cardboard or sheet rubber should be used between the sheet metal and door to protect the paint. Once you've got it set up just turn the bolts on the redi rod and it will slowly come out. You may want to give the rod a tap with a hammer once in a while..... When you get the unit out, you can file all sides down so it will go back in easier. You don't have to file much. Keep the corners square. Don't give up, you can do it.....
What is the value of a 1973 super beetle?
A value can't really be put on a car until you know more about it. The value could range from 100 bucks to 10,000 dollars! It depends on the interior, engine, transmission, brakes, rust, body, title, etc. You'd HAVE to have more information to get a reliable answer.

Thanks for the most useless answer in all creation.
You told us a bunch of words that sounded good, revealed nothing at all about the real answer, seemed to provide advice while being most unhelpful, and wasted everyone's time.
In other words, you told me what I already know, while trying to make yourself appear smart, but actually made yourself appear dumb.
I guess I'll go check antique car bluebook. Thanks for wasting my time!

What fluids are used in a 1968 Volkswagen beetle?
There are only three - four, if your windshield washer still works.
First is engine oil. There are a lot of good oils out there, but I have always had good results from "straight-30-weight" Shell Rotella diesel engine oil. This oil is made for two-stroke Detroit Diesel engines, which get very hot in operation. The engines in our cars also get very hot in operation, so this oil is perfect. Don't go to a truck stop to get it; new trucks all use 15W40 oil, and that's not what you want. Farm supply stores have this, and I've seen it at Walmart.
Next is transmission oil. Use 80W90 hypoid gear oil in a Volkswagen. Do NOT put motor oil, automatic transmission fluid, or any of the other fluids you might see specified for a modern transmission in a VW transmission.
Third is brake fluid. You can choose from DOT 3, DOT 4 and DOT 5.1 fluids. There is also a DOT 5 fluid you'll see every once in a while; this is a silicone brake fluid. It was invented by the Army because they wanted something that won't absorb water. They did a good job at that. Problem with it is, it won't mix with regular brake fluid, so don't get that. DOT 3, 4 and 5.1 are all glycol based, and will intermix readily.
The fourth is one you probably don't need...some Bugs still have windshield washers that work, so you might need windshield washer fluid. If you've got the tank and good sprayers (or can buy a set of sprayers from aircooled.net or somewhere), you can get washer pumps at auto parts stores for real cheap. Hook one of those up with some wire and hose, and use a push button switch to make it work. That would be cool, and easy to do.

What year is your volkswagen with engine number 9234791?
You need to have a couple of letters preceding a 6 digit serial number located at the base of the generator/alternator base in order to answer this question. Please look closer and try again.
Yes, you must use G12 type antifreeze which is similar to Dex-cool but they are not the same. But that doesn't mean you have to buy it from the dealer at $25. There may be other sources. PEAK® Global LifeTime™ claims to be a replacement for G12 but considering the importance of using the proper coolant, I would use only a G12 coolant.
How Can fit a 1960 front end in a super beetle?
You can't, unless you're an engineer and proficient at welding. Well I guess if you really really wanted too you could. It would be a major under taking to say the least. They have two different front suspensions and they both mount differently. Not to mention the steering, etc. If you're looking at wanting a "beam" axle for a Baja, just get a standard beetle. If the Super body is good and the pan is bad you can just get a donor car and replace the pan. The Super is a couple feet longer so the '60 pan wouldn't fit either.
Where is the Engine Number located on a 2.2 1996 Frontera?
The engine number is stamped onto a flat surface, on the left hand side of the cylinder block close to clutch housing joint.Probably starts with "X". Check with your registration documents to confirm.
How do you replace the alternator on a 1973 VW Beetle?
1 Disconnect the battery. 2 Unplugg the three electrical wires.(one may have a bolt) 3 Loosen the three support bolt. 4 Lift the alternater slightly with a crowbar to release the tension on the belt. 5 Remove the belt. 6 Remove the three support bolt and the alternater should come right off. If the engine is in the car..... after step 2 insert the following 2a. Remove Carburator and Intake manifolds where connected to the heads. This also means you remove the heater pipe and the rubber fittings. Make sure nothing falls into the resulting intakes in the heads after removing the intake pipes. Now loosen the alternator from the alternator stand and remove the belt. Also. remove 4 nuts that hold the cooling fan assembly(still connected to the alternator) to the doghouse. OK everything is loose now. 2b. Loosen the screws at the base of the doghouse- one on each side Maybe a short screwdriver will do it, maybe a wrench. 2c. Get a piece of wood and get ready.. now lift the doghouse and shove the wood in to raise the doghouse a couple inches. 2d. Loosen the nuts at the base of the generator stand and remove stand. Now everything falls out. 3. The alternator comes out with the cooling fan attached in the rear; this needs to be removed and reused, as does the inner pully. You will need a 36mm socket for the fan end and a flat screwdriver jammed between the alternator housing and inner pully on the other end to successfully break it free. You may also need a gear puller if the fan and inner pully do not agree with coming off the alternator shaft once the nuts are removed. Also be aware that there is a Woodruff key on both ends which will likely fall off; they must be reused (it prevents the fan/pully from spinning on the shaft.) (Note: If you end up buying a large 36mm socket, it can also used to remove the rear wheel drums when doing brake/bearing replacement. You'll probably find it needs a large 3/4" drive, but a 3/4" to 1/2" adapter will do, assuming you have a 1/2" ratchet or breaker bar.) Its a frustrating job that will take you several hours, but very satisfying when you realize how much money you saved doing it yourself, and hey, You Did IT!

Do you remove the base when using a 3 in 1 car seat as a booster seat?
If you are using a Dorel 3 N 1 car seat, you must remove the base of the seat when transitioning to booster seat mode. You must also raise the head rest of the seat to the highest setting. Be sure to consult with the seat's instruction manual and contact the manufacturer at http://www.djgusa.com Since the vast majority (80 to 90%) of car seats are misused, seek out a certified child passenger safety technician who will make sure that your seats is being used properly. You can find one in your area by going to http://www.seatcheck.org or http://www.safekids.org/certification
