It is 8-10 degree before top dead center with engine warmed to operating temp., RPM's at the proper range and the check engine connector jumped at TE1 and E1.

Loosen the oil drain plug on the bottom of the oil pan, and let the oil drain into a container. Then remove and replace the oil filter on the engine. Replace the drain plug, put in the appropriate amount of fresh oil and you're good to go. But if you don't know how to do this at all, I wouldn't recommend trying it for yourself. Any shop will do the job reasonably cheaply. If you do it yourself, make sure to dispose of the used oil properly!

The door lock relay is the culprit. where it is I have not a clue so far.

With great difficulty, u need to lower the front subframe and dependeing on the engine and gearbox fitted, you may need to raise the engine slightly.

If you aren't at all sure how to do this, you should seriously take your car to a Certified VW mechanic, hate to buy a new engine.

Could be the clockspring, particularly if the airbag light comes on. First, find the actual noisemaker under the hood and make sure it makes noise. Then maybe replace the horn relay or fuse. If those are OK, you probably have a problem in the steering wheel.

Lift the vehicle on a jack, remove the tire and place aside, remove the brake shoe/caliper, and remove and dispose of the old brake pad. Put in a new brake pad, replace the brake shoe/caliper, replace the tire, tighten the nuts, and lower the vehicle.

Recommended as a dealer-service item. At $15 per bulb installed (Chicago suburbs), not a bad deal considering what a hassle it appears to be.
