What would cause the brake light to remain illuminated on a 1992 Volkswagen Golf even when the car is not running?

On the left hand side by your steering wheel theres a swtich with a light on it. Press it. I cannot tell by your question WHICH brake light you're talking about. If it is on the instrument panel, then I don't know. However, if you're talking about the brake lights on the rear of the vehicle staying on, then the cause is probably a misadjusted brake light SWITCH. Or the switch could be defective.

Why are the abs and asc warning lights on on your BMW 850?

The abs and asc warning lights come on when there is a problem with the ABS computer or the ABS Module you should have it taken to the dealer immediatly if your car is an automatic. The computer also will prevent your speedometer from working and thus cause problems with your transmission computer in 3rd and 4th gear. If your car is a manual you are okay to drive but your Safety features such as the ABS and traction control (ASC) will not work :(.

Why does your 2004 Volkwagen golf overheat?

These engines have plastic impelers on water pump which fails / breaks and therefore coolant doesn,t flow - and engine overheats . If all else looks ok ( no leaks in system, head gasket checked and ok, radiator not blocked ) this could be the issue - If water not flowing into overflow bottle with engine running & hot coolant not being pump through radiator therefor no cooling affect . You will have to get a new one from VW and they are change over type replacement part - makes you think VW are aware of this issue and would rather it was kept quite ?

How do you replace the brake light bulb on a 99 passat?

my son's friend broke my taillight with a lacrosse ball which caused me to get a used taillight assembly and learn the answer to your question. 99 passat. if it's the driver's side, open the trunk and remove the cover to the CD changer/storage area by twisting the two thumbscrews. this will expose a white plastic insert. press two plastic tabs toward the center and the entire assembly, that holds 4 bulbs (only 3 populated), lifts out easily. to replace a bulb press down and turn (bayonet base). similar concept for passenger side. just lift away the black covering to expose the white plastic assembly.

Where is the connector for the obd II scanner cable located on the 2000 Mercury Cougar?

It's pointed downwards on the extreme left side of the lower facia below the dash and steering wheel. There is no cover, and you can't really see it unless you have a mirror or lay your head on the floor. You can feel for it with your fingers by reaching up just past the lower edge of the facia panel. Also, you could say it's just to the rear of the interior fuse panel.

Where do you add transmission fluid in a Volkswagen Golf?

The manual on my 1997 says take it to the dealer. My mechanic said that's because you need a special tool to access the transmission since there is no dipstick to check it. If you have a manual transmission, look at the part of the transmission facing the front of the car and there should be a hex bolt that requires a 17mm hex socket. That is how you check and fill your transmission. To drain it look for the same type of bolt on the bottom side of the transmission.

The car horn is underneath the air filter box on the left side at the front of the engine bay.

Where is and how do you replace the speedometer light on a 1994 Pathfinder?

First remove the trim below the steering column. To do this, remove to 2 screws at the bottom of it. One is by the hood release and the other is on the right side in the same place. It pops off, and exposes 2 screws which hold the gauge cover on. Remove these two screws, and the 2 in the top of the plastic cover. You may be able to remove the bulb now. If not, remove the screws holding the gauge assembly in place and pull it out. There will be a bulb holder in the back (round thing) which can be unscrewed, and the bulb can be replaced. Assembly is opposite of disassembly
