What concerns should you have when changing the alternator on a 2001 VW Jetta?
I have a 1999 VW Jetta GLS 4 cylinder 2.0liter SOHC New Body Style. My Alternator died, according to the technician at the VW Dealer. The electrical system diagnostics done by the tech indicated that the alternator was producing only 10amps and should be producing something like 14 amps. Backing up a bit; during the morning of the failure, my battery light went on. Later that night, I noticed that all interior lighting (including instrument dash-board lights) went dim. Additionally, the brake, ABS, airbag, etc. lights went off and a beeping noise occured. Long story short, my car started to sputter and eventually died on the highway. When I tried to start the car, the engine would barely turn over and the instrumentation lights flickered rapidly. I called around and found that PEPBoys or Advanced Auto Parts had Bosch alternators that fit my car for like $250. Bosch alternators at VW Dealer Parts Department costs $500 minimum. I'm not sure if it's the same one, but the VW guy on the phone said "Bosch". You do your own reasearch. Labor is 1.5 hours. Total from VW Dealer was around $750.00. I'd like to hear the experience of others as well.
Where is the tail light fuse or relay in a 2001 Jetta?
The fuse box is located on the driver side, open door and look on the left side of the panel. There you will find the fuse box. You will have to look for the tail light fuse, but it is there.
Look in your owners manual or call a VW dealer.
1997 jetta cruise control fuse?
A. There is no "Cruise Control Relay" per se. The power for the cruise control comes through fuse #14 in the fuse box. From there it goes to the Cruise Control Switch. However, the Cruise Control Module is above the Fuse/Relay box, behind the dash board. There is a special cruise control tester, VAG 1466, that Volkswagen plugs into the system to pinpoint malfunctions. I think it would be worth the money to just have Volkswagen check the system if you find the fuse is not the problem.
What octane is required in a 1.8turbo voltswagon jetta?
Hi There, I own a 2001 Jetta 1.8T. The minimum octain rating information is located on the inside of the gas cap door, and I believe that minimum is 91octain. This isn't to say that you can't use 87 octain, or regular fule. Doing so however you'll notice a loss in power, and a possible engine nock. The engine nock results from when the detonation inside the cylinder is not as powerful, causing the valves to sound louder. hope this helps.

2007 Tahoe how to reset check engine light?
Many of the OBD2 diagnostic scan tools allow you to clear the codes. You can borrow, rent or buy an OBD2 code scanner at most auto parts retailers.
However... once a problem has been properly corrected, most codes will clear themselves after the engine has "cycled" a few times. A 2007 Tahoe does not use OBD2, it uses CAN for communications. A scan tool must be CAN equiped to clear DTC's. Also, it may take up to sixty drive cycles before the VCM turns off the SES, so it will take awhile.

Where is the fuel pump located on a 2003 Cadillac Escalade and how do you change it?
I have just change the fuel pump on my 2003.
Put your cad. on a ramp. you can jack up one wheel at a time if cad. will not run.
You will need the room to work under the cad.
Disconnect the battery, relieve the fuel system pressure, drain tank and disconnect the tank, disconnect fuel evaporative emission lines from the tank,
You can use a siphon hose to drain the tank, take off the hose connected to the back of the tank and drain from there.
There are two retaining straps holding the tank up, unscrew the bolts let the rear of the tank down. This will make it easy to remove the lines from the clip to the tank. do not disconnect the lines from the cad. or the tank, it is enough room to move the tank from under the cad. to the driver side, this will save you some work!
Remove retaining ring with hammer and screwdriver, also replace with hammer and screwdriver. You will have to hit the retaining harder to put it back on.
Pull out fuel pump note place where screen located, replace new fuel pump and rubber seal .
You must change the harness, this should be included in fuel pump kit, the instruction are in the kit.

Why would the turn signal blinker stay on after the signal is canceled and the light is off?
If it is a 1999 is could be because of this: The only continuing problem is this: most cars have a few items that are typical failure points, and we've found one. The combination switch (turn signal, cruise, wiper/washer, flasher) on the Blazer is at the top of the list. We've found that it's very common for the flasher relay (under the dash, right side) to start clicking endlessly and audibly while no lights are flashing. Turns out the Blazer's combination switch is the problem. It's usually either failure in the turn signal stalk, or contact problems with the emergency flasher switch mounted on top of the steering column. If you remove the shroud, you'll find the switch assembly and turn signal stalk must be replaced as a unit.
This problem is so common that it's a topic of discussion on Blazer and S10 discussion boards, but don't expect a dealer adjustment. If it happens to you, expect to pay for a repair. In some cases owners have been able to spray generous amounts of contact cleaner into the switch and stop the relay clicking, but it's a very hit-or-miss proposition and you have to be lucky to avoid replacing the switch. However, if this is the biggest problem you ever have with the vehicle, life isn't that bad!
Condition: Used
Model Year: 1999
Model and Options: LS, 4-dor, 4WD Some have said it is because the grease used to lubricate the switch was "conductive" instead of "dielectric" If not a 1999 it could still be a bad "combination switch" in the steering wheel but for normal wear and tear

If a Volkswagen Jetta loses power while driving uphill, one possible explanation is that the mass airflow sensor has gone bad. Another possibility is that the intake manifold could be clogged. The only way to know for sure what's wrong is to take the car to a mechanic.
