How do you change the oil in a 2004 Cavalier?
If it's is an 2.2L ECOTEC engine (it will say right on it) It will have a little housing that you pull the filter element out of, it will not be the regular everyday oil filters that you see. You will see it when you look under the hood. It will be black and you will need a 1 1/4 socket , and extention, and a ratcket. It will be located under a solid (possibly) black air duct so you will have to crack it loose and turn the rest by hand (just because it is partially under and your socket will get stuck, lol) Then you just pull the filter off of the cap and put the new one int Make sure the new one clicks in, and that you can spin it with ease (you'll see). Place it back in and tighten it snug. The drain plug is underneath and it should be a 15 mm, if not, then a 13 mm. It will take 4.7 L when u put oil back in (Canadian Litres). The filters should be $13 at GM and $10 at Canadian Tire.
How do you remove the dashboard in a 2000 Chevy Cavalier Z24 to install a radio?
You have to remove the top of the Dash before you start.(bolts located in the access panels on the sides) Then You can remove the vents. Caution....in any cavalier 2000 and up you will need to purchase a relocation harness to mount the stock deck in the trunk as the air bag control module is built into it. These cost around $150 just for the harness. The other option is to bypass your airbags all together although this is not reccomended for obvious reasons. Other than that it is quite simple to install a deck into these cars (plug and play/ colour matching).

On some engines (e.g. 2.4L) the water pump is inside the timing cover. Apparently it's not easily replaced... local garage wants $1200 to replace it and recommends replacing timing chain at the same time. ON THE 2.2 ITS LOCATED DIRECTLY UNDER THE ALTERNATOR. REAL EASY TO CHANGE.

How do you replace the thermostat on a Chevy Cavalier?
Replacing a thermostat is a relatively easy task. If your temperature gauge is running way down on the low side and your heater isn't putting out much heat, it's time to replace the thermostat. Here is a description of how to change a thermostat. The exact location of your thermostat may be slightly different but most of them are near the top radiator hose in the top of the engine. The thermostat is normally in a housing which is at the engine end of the top radiator hose. Drain the coolant into a drain pan - toss it down the john - it's the correct way to dispose of it. Take a screwdriver and remove the hose clamp from the top hose where it meets the top of the engine. Get a flashlight and see if you can peek down the hole and see the thermostat. If it is faulty it will be open. Not all thermostat housings are identical but typically it will be held on with two bolts. Remove them. Tap the thermostat housing with a wooden block or a soft faced hammer. It should pop off easily. You can then see the thermostat. Lift it out. Don't sweat the gasket - you are going to replace it anyway. Use a new gasket. Scrape EVERYTHING off both mating surfaces. Use a single edged razor blade. Apply some blue rubber sealant to both sides of the gasket. Then grab it between your fingers and "squeegee" any excess off. You don't need a lot of sealant. Make sure you put the gasket on the right side of the thermostat. The stat will normally fit into a recess in the engine, the gasket goes on top and the housing on top of that. Wipe a bit of blue rubber sealant inside the hose, put it back onto the housing nipple and clamp it back in place.
NOTE: Some Cavaliers do not have a traditional gasket but use a rubber ring around the thermostat. If this is the case with your model, do not use gasket sealant.
You should probably drain all of the coolant by draining the block but if you can't find the small plug it the side of the engine don't sweat it. You should mix antifreeze and water in a ratio of 50-50 and replace what you drained out with the fresh mix. If you can't get all the replacement mix in while it's cold just warm it up a bit and watch the level drop as the thermostat opens up. Then add mix until it is totally filled. Replace the radiator cap and put a quart or so in the overflow bottle (which you should have drained previously).

Who is at fault when you are stopped for a light and the car in front backs up into you?
that would be the person that goes into reverse, because as long as you are stopped it is not your fault. the only possible chance of it being your fault is if you are in motion, but even than it would be a technicality that you could be at fault.
How do you replace the thermostat on a 2000 GM jimmy?
Follow the upper radiator hose down to the engine. It attaches to the thermostat housing. Two bolts hold the housing on. There may be accessories, brackets, etc, that may have to be removed because they will be in the way. Remove the housing, lift out the old thermostat, remembering which way it came out, and replace with a new one. Newer vehicles now use seals instead of gaskets. Use no sealer when putting the housing back on.

How do you install a passenger side window in a 1974 Suburban?
Hey April==This is a pretty big job. Take the window crand and inside door handlw off and any screws you can find that hold the trim pad on. Then with a special tool available at the parts store, take the retainers loose from both sides and across the bottom of the pad and remove the trim pad. Then you have to take part of the linkage loose inside th edoor and remove the window channel and install it on the new glass. There are a lot of very sharp edges inside the door that can cut you pretty bad {from experience} so be careful.. You might want to just take it to the trim shop. GoodluckJoe
Can a bad ignition switch keep the starter engaged?
Probably not a bad ignition switch, but more likely a bad starter solenoid. It takes a lot of current to get a starter to turn, to much to go through such a small switch like the ignition switch. The ignition switch actually controls a relay(solenoid) which can handle the needed current to get the starter going. On a lot of modern cars the solenoid is built into the starter unlike older cars and trucks where it was mounted on the firewall between the battery and the starter.
Why would a vehicle not start right away and only turn over on the second try?
some of the reasons for that may be that after a while the timing belt streches and the static timing start getting a little bit off.simply have your static timing(ignition timing) corrected and it should help that anoying problem go away. if done correctly the vehicle will start as soon as you turn that key.

I would add that it's a very tight fit but you can remove the old unit and insert the new unit without having remove or relocate other parts/brackets. I did the job myself, and there were several times I almost gave up - but it can be done it just takes time to rotate and jimmy it into the position for mounting.
