Is faulty relay switch inside door the reason the dome light wont go off on 97 ranger?
This is a very common issue with most Ford vehicles. The main door switch is the reason for your problem. Their door latch assemblies go bad often and when this happens it is telling the car that your door is adjar, when it isn't, which is making your dome light come on.

When my 2000 ford focus ran out of gas. why wont it start?
Most likely your fuel filter is clogged from sediment in tank or fuel pump is faulty, to narrow down that fuel pump is not faulty try turning key to on position DON'T START and listen for a soft humming sound from rear of car. If no sound is heard you likely have a bad fuel pump. You may also try pushing on schraeder valve on fuel rail (looks like tire stem for airing tires only on fuel rail, probably has black cap on it like tires or similar) if gas squirts out you are getting gas to engine and must diagnose other problems. Good luck.

Why would a car make a somewhat loud 'clunk' noise when accelerating from a stop?
if the car is rear wheel drive, sounds like a u-joint. If it is front wheel drive, sounds like a cv joint. It could also be your engine mounts wearing out. If the rubber insulation has worn out then the engine will shift slightly against the mount and make a clunking noise. This happened on my 96 Nissan Quest minivan.

Farm houses in the early 1800's, in the North East at least, had second stories (sleeping area's) that had much lower ceiling's then the first floor, and all bedroom doors faced the stairs. This was because the heating system, wood stove and or fire places where on the first floor. These sections were built on as the family grew.
The homes had no electricity and using oil lamp's sparingly, due to the cost of oil. Most were made out of wood, some were made using stone and or mud. Most had a small basement, that was used for hanging meat and for storing canning in cool dark area's

Why do low beams work but not high beams 1991 ford escort?
This is normally caused by the dimmer switch going bad. In fact, I know of no other possibility, other than the low beam of the driver's side lowbeam input wire being pinched or cut in two. The latter is a very slight possibility, but is still possible. It is very much more likely to be the dimmer switch being bad.
One lady brought me her Merc Sable, with that problem...both her dim lights were blown, and would only work on hi beam....sigh...some people....
How do you tell if the water pump on 97 Chrysler LHS is not working?
1. Most, if not all, water pumps have a 'weep' hole that allows water to leak out when the shaft bearing becomes worn. This hole is generally located at the top of the water pump where the shaft passes out to the fan. If water is leaking out then replace the water pump. 2. A definite loud squealing coming directly from the water pump shaft area is an 'indicator' that the pump is going bad. The squealing is caused by the rotating shaft creating friction against the shaft bearing - something that should not be occuring. If you are just using water in your system then you may be able to prolong the life of the pump by adding the correct amount of anti-freeze. 3. The water pump has vanes (fins) that move the water in the desired direction. I have seen them corroded away - not a common occurance. You can remove the radiator cap on a COLD engine and then start the engine (make sure the removed cap will not become a missle by dropping to the fan). When the engine warms to operating temperature the water thermostat will open permitting the moderate flow of water from the engine and through the radiator. Usually you can see this flow past the radiator cap hole. If the hole is to the side of the radiator you may not see the flow but will be able to feel the warmer, and soon to be hot, water by briefly touching the outside of the radiator tank. (Keep hands and other objects away from the fan!!!) If the flow is not visibly pronounced it may be a sign of worn/corroded vanes. The only real way of telling for sure is to remove the water pump and look. Again, this is not a common occurance. 4. An over-heating engine may be caused by a stuck water thermostat or even an old (usually lower) radiator hose that is collapsing. Some of these hoses come with a spiral of metal, that looks like a spring, that runs along the inside to prvent the collapse.
What is the tire pressure for cavalier?
The correct tire pressure is listed on you driver's door post and in your owner's manual. The maximum you should put in your tires is 35psi cold.
Note: The correct pressure for the vehicle is NOT listed on the side of the tire. The pressure listed on the tire is the maximum pressure the tire can handle. The same tire is installed on many different cars and the correct pressure may be different on each vehicle.

Ran out of gas in your 2001 Chevy Cavalier put gas in it and now it wont start?
The reason is: When you completely run out of gas your gas lines are completely drained of fuel. When you refuel the car the fuel lines are still empty, and you will need to crank the car until the fuel pump has filled the gas lines and established the correct fuel pressure. it's possible you burnt up the fuel pump running it with no gas.
How do you remove a gear shift knob on a 2004 ford ranger?
It is pressed on. You have to cut it off by cutting hte plastic knob. Once the knob is remove d use a propane touch to heat up the thick nut. Remove the nut with a pair of vise grips. You can now install an after market knob.
---------------
I broke off the knob then I was able to use two wrenches to hold the bottom nut and unscrew the top one. From there I had to put a couple layers of duct tape on the shaft before I could put the plastic adapter that holds the new knob on to make sure it didn't move at all. It worked perfectly.
Where is the neutral safety switch on 1991 Nissan Sentra 1.6?
Depends on the transmission. If the car is a stick shift then the switch is at the back of the clutch peddle. Its a little plunger found just behind the top part of the peddle. If the car is an automatic then the switch is usually on the shifter. I'm not positive of this specific application though. You'll need to remove the shifter bezel off the console to access it...
How do you replace a starter solenoid in an 1998 Chevy Cavalier?
Disconnect battery. You will need two wrenches to disconnect the battery. One to secure the bolt, and the other to undo the nut on the other end. You will need a half inch wrench to undo the battery. The starter itself is on the underside of the truck. It is in the center front of the truck, a bit toward the passenger side of the truck. It is a black cylinder, about 6inches long. You will need to get under the truck to access it. Since the starter is next to other components, plan on using your socket wrench to undo the bolts. The starter is mounted with 2 bolts, remove them. (Some are mounted with 3 bolts - the third is hidden on the top of the starter. You will know if it has a third because it won't slide out easily.) Remove Positive wire from solinoid. Remove red wire with plastic black end by simply pulling on it. Starter is out! Take the old starter to the autoparts store with you when you buy the new starter. The parts store will give you a significant discount on the new part in exchange for returning the old starter.
Why would a 1990 Ford Thunderbird 3.8 not start if you have spark and fuel?
Depress the gas pedal about an inch while the engine cranks will help on fuel injected engines. Carbuerated engines would need to be checked for proper choke operation. Then have the motor tuned up right away. Cranking an engine too long causes wear, drains batteries and burns up starters
