If you are referring to the radio security code - - - First: Check the owner's manual. If you're lucky, sometimes the dealer or former owner will have written down the security code number somewhere in the manual (inside the front cover or on the page that describes the radio operation are favorite places). Also check the interior of the glove compartment - sometimes the dealer will affix a sticker containing the radios serial number, and/or security code, there. IF NOT: You will need to retrieve the radio's SERIAL NUMBER. On SOME radios you can do this by holding down both the number 1 and the number 6 buttons simultaneously as you turn on the radio. If you have one of those radios, the serial number of the radio will appear in the tuning window when you turn it on. IF NOT: You will need to loosen the radio and slide it far enough out of the dashboard in order to read the serial number off the plate that is affixed either on the back, or the bottom of the radio case. When you have gotten the serial number - either call the Honda Customer Service 800 number, or stop by your local Honda dealer and give them the serial number and they should be able to give you the anti-theft security code for your radio. WRITE IT DOWN SOMEWHERE WHERE YOU WON"T FORGET IT! This will happen every time the battery is disconnected or goes dead.

Here is your solution:

Purchase a Scosche harness kit #FDK2b, which supplies the rectangular connector for power, ground, etc.; a square connector for the 8-pin speaker/amp connections; and a double-ended AMP BY-PASS connector. You have to have this connector (also sold separately as fd07b) to properly by-pass the factory amp, which will redirect the speaker connections from the 8-pin speaker/amp connector direct to the factory speaker wiring in the doors.

I would recommend using these harnesses 1) if you are planning on re-installing the factory radio prior to selling the vehicle, or 2) if you do not want to take the time to re-wire for speakers.

Re-wiring for speakers is the BEST method; however, I have installed in these vehicles more than once, and it is very tedious and time-consuming work to properly route quality cables through under-carpet channels, door sills, factory cable routes, and door harnesses. Seriously, unless you are installing a kick-butt system with multiple amps, subs, and dozens of speakers, it is not worth the effort.

If you are simply replacing a defective head unit, or upgrading to a "better" head unit, use the harnesses I've listed above, and your installation will take about 30-minutes.

Pre-connect the rectangular and 8-pin harnesses to your replacement head unit's wiring, remove the factory head unit using Ford Radio removal tools (available at most auto parts stores, Wal-mart, online, and Scosche also has a universal radio removal kit), disconnect the two harness connectors and antenna connection, and install your new unit according to the manufacturer's instructions.

To by-pass the amp, locate the right-rear fender panel located in the cargo compartment on the right side of the vehicle). It is best to do this from inside the cargo area. Lift the carpet and locate and remove the two screws which secure the plastic fender panel to the floor, gently remove the panel by popping the plastic anchors (careful not to damage them) which secure the panel to the side of the body. Pull the panel back enough to reach the amp (there is no need to fully remove the panel), disconnect the two connections to the amp, and connect the jumper harness between the two connections you just removed. Re-assemble the interior panel and you're done!

The entire process should take 30-60 minutes.

What worked for me was to unplug the antenna in the back of the radio and then enter the security code. Once the security code is entered, you can plug the antenna connector back into the radio.

On my 1995 Lebaron you just pop off the plastic housing surrounding the radio and air vents (it's pretty big). Then unscrew the screw on the right top side and bottom left side and pull. Be careful to disconnect the wires before the radio is completely out.

Electrical interference in a car radio is the same as electrical interference on any radio. Radio interference is literally the sound of the air. When a radio signal is broadcast, the frequency that was previously only occupied by air is overpowered and drowned out, thus you hear the broadcast frequency clearly. When the broadcast frequency is weak (i.e. you are too far away or something is blocking the signal), the frequency cannot completely overpower the air and thus you hear some of both.
