Is a cell phone a radio?

It depends. The FCC (Federal Communications Commission) banned the manufacture of scanners and Ham Radios that can receive cell phones years ago. The manufacture of radios with this capability available is no longer available however, it took several years before this was changed. The cell phone signals would need to be analog for them to be able to listen in to and if you were traveling in a car on a highway, your signal would jump to another cell site and the listener would need to travel with you and know what frequency you would need to. This is difficult to do because of the large number of frequencies or channels available to analog cell phones. This takes several minutes with most scanners. It is now also illegal to modify a radio to receive these signals and has always been illegal to listen to them. It is also illegal to disclose the content of anything you hear on a scanner unless it is a conversation between Ham Radio operators and obviously your favorite broadcast station.

Digital cell phone signals are nearly impossible to listen to because of their encoding.

The short Answer: No, you can not listen to cell phone conversations on any form of Amateur radio. The blurb above is all about what scanner users could do in past years, but scanner users are not licensed amateur radio operators.

How do you remove the CD player-radio from a 2003 Ford Expedition to get out a stuck CD?

If the CD is stuck in the load opening, take something small enough but with a blunt end and push at the CD to go back in several times and eventually it will come back out. I have found certain burned CD's with sticker labels can not be put in there because of the thickness. You can try like a butter knife, tweezeers or finger nail file but becareful not to push on the bottom part because you can scratch the CD. At least that's how it works in mine.

What FM wavelength is BBC radio 1?

Does ultraviolet light carry more energy than infrared radiation?

Yes. Radiations on the "red" end of the spectrum, such as radio, microwave, and infrared, have markedly less energy than visible light. Frequencies on the "purple" end, on the other hand, such as ultraviolet, x-ray, and gamma, have considerably more.

What are the advantages of advertising by tv?

One main advantage is the ability to add a voice to the face of your advertisement as well as the ability to build consumer trust depending on the popularity of a network channel the ad is displayed on.

ok, TV advertising is useful, because heaps and heaps of people watch it. this means that you are reaching a large audience, and that you are more likely to get a return from you advert using TV rather than radio advertising.

but it is also very expensive, and so smaller buisnesses may not be able to use this. this means that to use TV advertising you need quite a lot of money, liscences, fee's, and a copyright document would be very useful. also, some people swap to different channels during the adverts. but your advert will always be noticed

any questions? i can improve further soon, message me!

What is wrong if the radio in your 2001 Chevy Impala won't turn off but the dome light does?

The 2000 and up Impala's have a feature called RAP or Retained Accessory Power. This allows you to operate your radio and windows without the key or car being on for 10 min after you shut off the engine opening the doors will shut off the RAP and you will need to turn on the car again to roll up windows and such. I don't know what the cause of it is but we had that happen one day about 3 months ago. Prior to it not shutting off we got "garbled" reception from the radio..then when we parked the vehicle and started to exit the radio didn't shut off. We found the fuse (in the fuse box on the passenger side) and pulled the fuse and put it back in. We havn't had a problem since. Doesn't help you with the "why" questions but may help others from a dead battery. Karen

What is the limitation of radio waves?

Radio is limited by its own design. AM & FM bands are frequency transmitted as radio waves. However since earth is round waves travels directly they do not bend. So as a rule the higher the frequency the more direct they are FM frequency is considered as line of sight transmission AM will have more range since it operates at lower frequency. At very low frequency it is possible to transmit around the earth by using the ionosphere curvature

Where do you find radio codes on a 2004 Honda Element?

The car came with 2 cards with the code written on them. If you can't find these cards or it was not written down in your owner's manual, you will have to remove the radio and get the serial # off it. With this serial # Honda can supply the code. Better write it down for future battery replacement. found mine on the inside of the fuse box cover under the hood (03 element) Also found mine on the inside of the fuse box cover under the hood. It's a 5-digit number and is not labeled. Thanks to previous poster for info! Answer Bingo! These hints helped me find mine (03 element). It was on the door jamb inside the hatchback at the top. (I think that's where the radio antenna comes through to the roof. Maybe they thought that was a logical place to put it!)

Could anyone help me I have a 2004 Lincoln Navigator and the radio will not shut off after the car is turned off?

This is normal for Navigator, the radio will play, and the windows will run up and down for up to 5 minutes after the ignition is turned off. Just open the drivers door to over ride it. They do that so if you listening to a radio program you can hear the end without having the car running. Most newer Lincolns do this.

How do you get rid of static on FM radio in your home?

The radio should be connected to a filtered power strip. These filtered power outlet strips are inexpensive and available in most stores.

In more detail....

First, how strong are the signals you want to pick up?

If you are in a very weak signal area, the only solution is to use a large antenna to capture more signal. Have a look on the Web for antenna/aerial construction.

What you've called "static" might just be receiver noise, exactly like the noise you get on an FM set when you tune between stations. If the "static" is *receiver* noise, only a better antenna, or maybe relocating/aiming your radio will help.

Now, if you are in a good signal area, what kind of "static"? It might be interference from machinery, it might be from television sets, or from home appliances or computers.

AM is the most sensitive to static, so it's the best place to start. You can check whether it's coming from inside your home by turning everything else off, and you'll need to turn off at the wall socket or pull the plugs out, as some equipment still creates interference when you've turned it "off" at its control panel.

If the static continues, it's outside your home (it might be from the flat/house next door or it might be a factory or even electric trains). Try getting a portable AM radio and pointing it around. If you get a large *decrease* in the amount of static, you are pointing to (*or* away from) the source. Most AM radios use a ferrite rod antenna which is highly directional at *right angles* to its ferrite core. You may be able to pinpoint the source this way.

FM is *very* immune to static, so if you're getting static on an FM set, either (i) the signal is *very* weak, or (ii) the interference is extremely strong.

If your FM set has a socket for an external antenna, and you have a TV set, get down to your local HiFi/Radio/Tech store and get a lead to go from the TV antenna to your FM radio. TV antennas usually work well at FM frequencies, so this may give you enough clean signal. Be aware that, if your TV antenna is a "UHF-only" type, this may not work too well. Still worth a try.

Rear power outlet is not working on a 2005 Chrysler town and country?

How would one convert an LP to a CD?

Plug your turn table into your input sound card (line in on your sound card) Use a program like Nero Media Player, or any digital recording program ( Sound Blaster or Wave Studio) Tell it to save the file as mp3, that simple. Reply from another FAQ Farmer: If you are an experienced Computer user and have a Wave Recording program such as Audacity [free] or Adobe Audition [$$$] youcan do this: 1. Your record player must have a LINE OUT.....usually go from your stereo receiver [YOu can get turntables with internal Line outputs...this is what I have...via ebay] 2. Output from Receiver [turntable] must be the small [headphone like plug...used to be called Sony Plug...now it's the 3/32nd I believe.... 3. plug this into the line in of the sound card....it's the arrow that points INTO the little hole. Now the sound card can read the signal.....but wait...! 4. YOu must enable the little box in the sound card properties called "Line IN"....put the check mark there. 5. How to get to the Properties? Bottom right of screen there should be a speaker ICON....double click that. Then go to File....Properties....record.....then look for the LINE IN....check it. If you don't see it. Then you have to ask someone in person to help you. 6. If you get it working. Great! 7 Now open a recording program and press record....then play the record. You should see a wave file going across the screen. Then save it as an MP3 file. 8. Advanced tip: if you record at a rate of 59594 instead of 44100 then you can play the 33 1/3 speed at 45 RPM and save about 30% time in recording from a record. Then convert back to 44100 and it will be normal speed. I do this on ALL my LP to MP3 recordings... The above is for more advance type computer users.
