I would say probably not, the reason your battery is weak is I reckon due to a fault with your alternator. It is obviously not producing sufficient power (electricity ) to keep the battery charged. The whining noise is probably caused by worn-out bearings. A replacement or re-conditioned alternator should cure the problem .

Replaced alternator now belts are squeeling. How do you stop the squiling are the belts to lose or to tight?

Hi, the vehicle (like all vehicles today) has an automatic tensioner - it is possible that it is seized and needs replacing. Otherwise try this: First, raise the vehicle and remove the wheel from the right front side, next remove the plastic splash shield and from there you will see the tensioner pulley and adjuster bolt. Loosen the nut first and then you turn the adjuster bolt.

Interesting idea about drilling small pilot hole for the penetrating lube; and how cast iron block(engine) cracks off before the steel bracket comes off.

i have checked the alternator and it is good but i am not getting juice how do i check to see if the alternater is sending power to the SBEC?

ah, i had to do this a few years back. its a little tricky. first you have out the fan cover. then take off the fan. you will need a 3/4 wrench socket i think. you might have to double check. next you need to spray wd-40 or some other lubricating oil on the belt. it should be easily acessible since the fan is no longer in the way. if you need to move that radiator by hand a little that's fine, but make sure not not to slide off any of the fluid lines. since you now have the belt lubricated start turning it little by little and it should eventually slide off. if you have any more questions about it just ask!

Anywhere from 4-6 quarts from empty if you do an oil change. Just check the dipstick if you haven't done an oil change and just need to add oil and if its half way below the full mark then add a quart, let it sit for a few minutes and check again and add accordingly. If it is a oil change, put on your new filter and add 3 quarts to it, let it sit, check the dipstick and add accordingly until it reaches the full mark. Just don't over fill it, don't add an entire extra quart, that will cause issues and may create leaks from the pressure.

First disconnect the battery, Remove the wire attacked to the alternator bolt,(RED WIRE) remove the wire harness under the post, remove the belt 15mm wrench/socket will be needed for the belt tension pully, remove the top mounting bolt into the alternator thru the mount bracket, remove the lower mounting bolt into the alternator thru the mount brcket, remove the mounting bolt on the back of the alternator. its a simple replacement, to reinstall the alternator put all the mounting bolts back in the belt back on the wire plug back in the (RED WIRE)back on the wire post attack the battery. is also listed in the Haynes manual available at MOST auto part shops.

Remove the belt carefully. Disconnect the battery to ensure you do not shock yourself. Remove the bolt on the top wire of the alternator and unplug the other corresponding set of wires. Reomve all mounting bolts.

Mount new alternator. Reconnect all the wires you previously disconnected. Redo the fan bely to its original positioning. Youre done. Its pretty simple actually. This was the first thing I ever did with my car besides adding fluids and whatnot, and I did it in about 15 min.

It's pretty involved. You can follow the instructions from this site. I ended up taking it to a garage and had someone do it because I got stuck at one of the steps. To get the alternator out you have to take apart the entire passenger side wheel assembly. Pieces wouldn't come apart anymore. (Just as a side note, this is the worst car I've ever worked on.) Try an auto parts store, sometimes they will check your alternator and battery for free.

The alternator is located by the right side wheel, at the bottom of the timing belt. It is a difficult process to remove and replace. It must come out the top, so depending on the model of MR2, you may have to disconnect the cruise control and move it aside. You can move it out the bottom but you would have to remove the exhaust.

Overcharging, running it down over and over, dead cell in the battery, or something left on in the vehicle, such as any light or stuck relay.

Since the alternators are in parallel, the resultant voltage should be the same as either alternator - exactly as it would be if two batteries are connected in parallel. Voltage remains the same but current capacity is doubled. I would recommend connecting the alternators through a network that will balance the load between them.

Assuming the new battery is good! The usual problem why a battery is not charging is the alternator. The battery will be discharged if the alternator is not working properly when you start the engine and when the engine is running, etc. The vehicle uses the batteries electricity instead of the alternators electrical output, and of course if the battery is not being replenished by the alternator the battery will fail in a short period of time. You should test the alternator to see if it is putting out between 12 and 15 volts. Another possible things that could be the problem with a New battery failing so quick is, maybe the proper amount of acid was not put into the battery, a short in the wiring, etc.

In order to replace your alternator, you will first need to remove the old one. Check your owners manual for the location and a guide on how to remove.

mostly likely when you got the overcharging a fuse or relay was blown. need to locate and replace fuse most likely but possibly a relay.
