Your 185 Honda ATV is pouring gas out of the carburetor?
check your float in the carburetor its probably sticking**** also check you fuel for contamination as there is a needle and seat inside of the carb (wear the fuel line goes in) the BEST thing to do is remove the carb (if your confident in your ability to do so) turn the carb upside down and drain into a nice clean container if you see smaller droplets floating in the fuel you have water in the fuel If there is no contamination and the fuel looks clean and smells fresh not sour you will have to take apart the carb and blow out ALL the orfices of the carb body and jets. after the carb is reassemble you will have to pressure test the needle and seat to make sure it seals pump pressure gauge (mity vac) to 5 psi and see if there is pressure drops. You might need a new needle and seat. (ps make sure you check the floats they should float and not drop in a pail of fuel if they do replace them) *****caution be careful with gasoline and compressed air wear safety glasses @ ALL TIMES********
most likely no. especially if it is a 1 cylinder. just like a lawnmower, the camshaft is built into the same peice as the crankshaft. you can't advance or retard the timing. i am most certain that your problem is in your carberuator. It is probably dumping too much gas into the cylinder. when the piston comes up and makes compression, the spark plug ignites and causes combustion, the exhaust valve opens and closes quickly, but there is so much gas in the cylinder that when the intake valve opens again to let more fuel in, the fuel already in the cylinder is still combusting and causes a backfire on the intake side which also burns all the fuel back up to the carberuator in a quick flash and backfire. i bet the spark plug is either fouled out, or showing signs of overheating from getting too hot because of prolonged combustion. tune up time.

Can you save fuel by pressing the clutch while running in fitth gear of four wheeler?
You can save fuel because the engine then goes back to idle. But by disconnecting the engine from the wheels (freewheeling) you don't have so much control over your car. You can also save fuel by turning off the engine and freewheeling down a hill, but if you have power brakes they won't have any power. Could be a problem.

How fast will a polaris sportsman 500 go?
We have this exact model of ATV. We can do a straight one mile stretch on a plowed field; on this stretch, it will hit 45-50 mph. However, the plowed dirt in this field could be dragging the large balloon like tires. I would say on a hard packed road, the machine may get upwards of 55 mph.

How do you drain the gas from an ATV?
the best way to drain gas from a ATV is to pull the line off from the carb and it will drain out through the fuel line. Just make sure you remove the clamp before pulling on the fuel line. If need be you can put an extension With a longer peice of fuel line to wherever you want just turn off the fuel cock before atempting to put on the extension so the fuel is not runing
you can also open bowl drain, usually a brass srew at bottom of carb, turn it out a few turns but not all the way. most bikes have a drain hose from there to underneath frame, takes a little longer but you can easily catch gas in a pan
How do you test pickup coil on a ATV?
A pickup coil for an ATV may be tested by measuring the resistance across the coil's electrical leads and comparing this value against the expected range specified in the ATV's shop manual.
# Disconnect the pickup coil assembly from the ignition system (e.g. the CDI unit or engine control module) # Identify the coil's electrical contacts on the connector # Measure the electrical resistance between the coil's contacts with an Ohmmeter or digital volt meter.
Take care not to grab both leads of your ohmmeter with your fingers while measuring this value or you'll measure your body's resistance in parallel with the coil. It's not dangerous but it might corrupt your reading.
The value for working part will vary by manufacturer and model, but will typically be between 100 ohms and 350 ohms.
If the coil reads as an "open circuit", or the resistance in the high 10's of k-ohms or higher, your coil is damaged and likely non-functional.
