an oil light or sometimes an "idiot light" (named for the lack of an analog oil pressure guage) can come on at a low idle for a couple reasons. But first know that the oil pump spins mechanically with the RPM's of the engine. the slower the engine turns the slower the pump turns. this is why the light goes out when you rev the engine, the pump creates more oil pressure in the system and satisfies the pressure switch that activates the light. just a couple of things that can cause this. a: high mileage, old worn out bearings with wide tolerances dont restrict the oil enough and it will just run out and back into the pan, with pressure dropping at each bearing. b: too thin of an oil weight, when your engine heats up, a thinner oil, possibly in conjunction with "a" can act like water and will run through the system much faster and with less effectiveness. similar to pouring something thin through a funnel and something thick through a funnel. c: worn out fuel pump,

BMW 318i 1994 dashboard failure?
For the record I am not qualified to answer this question. Here it goes:
I have a 93' 318i and I've had similar problems with my dash. I took my car to a mechanic who said it could mean you have corrosion interfering with the plug ins in the back. Solution my mechanic offered to try and clean it for 50.00$. In my case that wasn't the problem since he tried it and it didn't work. He later recommended I get a new "Instrument Cluster." I checked my local "Pick a Part" aka junk yard to find one for about a $100.00. My mechanic said he'd install it for $35.00. Prices may vary where you're from. Hope this helps. Good Luck

Can you put a BMW 97m3 engine in a BMW 97 528i?
I'm sure you could, anything is possible. Its all about mechanical knowledge. But the biggest difference between a 3 series and an m3 isn't just the motor itself, an m3 has adjusted suspension and ride height, a more performance oriented transmission with minor motor upgrades and a stronger tuning setup in the computer to control all the power being produced under the hood

How can you avoid getting a flat tire?
Make sure your tires are in good condition, tread wear is within limits and no dry rot.
Check for proper inflation.
Avoid potholes and loose items in road.
Stick to well maintained roads.
Purchase tires that give excellent puncture resistance.
Inspect your tires for foreign objects regularly.
Maintain sensible speeds, posted speed limits are usually correct for conditions.
Listen to your tires, a repeated ticking noise could mean there is a nail or screw trying to work its way into your tire.
Have all tire damage repaired by a professional.
Why would the alternator heat up and destroy the belt?
alt are easy to turn at low speed,But as the engine speed up it has a higer out put of amps so this makes it harder to turn. So by being harder to turn more Friction is created.thus more heat!
