Can you refuel an airplane in flight?

Most military aircraft, heliocopters and fixed-wing aircraft, are equipped and the pilots trained to allow them to be refueled in-flight. Civilian aircraft are not designed to be refueled in-flight. == In-flight refueling was a concept that dates back to the earlies days of aviation. The weight of the aircraft was so critical, this sometimes limited the fuel and therefore the range of the aircraft. On November 21, 1921, a unique method was tried. Frank Hawks flew his Lincoln Standard biplane over Long Beach, California. Wesley May, a barnstorming wing walker, crawled up onto its top wing. With a five-gallon can of gasoline strapped to his back, May started walking toward the edge of the right wing. Meanwhile, Earl Daugherty, perhaps America’s greatest stunt pilot, eased his Curtiss Jenny just above the Lincoln. When Daugherty got his lower left wing within range, May reached up and grabbed a loop on its lower edge. Then Daugherty eased away, with May and his gas can hanging below. May climbed up onto the lower wing and eventually poured the gasoline into Daugherty’s tank. November 18, 1923, some aviators attempted refueling over Kelly Field in San Antonio, Texas, as part of a carnival exhibition. The hose from the tanker caught in the propeller of the receiver, and the tanker crashed. And in July 1935 a pair of brothers, Fred and Algene Key, of Mississippi, set a record that still stands by keeping "Ole Miss", a Curtiss Robin J-1, in the air for 653 hours and 34 minutes, more than 27 days. During the 1970's, the Shah of Iran was head of one of the most weathiest oil-producing countries. He contracted with several US companies and especially aviation companies for business. When the US Air Force was designing a Boeing 747-200 for the E-4 Airborne Command Post (military predecessor of the current Air Force One), he asked if Boeing could incorporate the refueling receptable of the E-4 into his civilian Boeing 747s. A gallon of aviation fuel weighs about six and a half pounds, which is enough to fly 1909 Wright Signal Corps airplane for 16 minutes OR a World War II B-24 for 18 seconds, OR a modern F-15 fighter for about 6 seconds.

It will not cause claustrophobia because the "797" plane is not real, and Boeing says they want conjecture about it to end. The flying wing technology they're working with is for military use only.

Can a 74 Chevy 350 4x4 use 1 to 2 gallons of E85 on a full tank with out damaging it?

I would avoid using E85 in any pre 80's vehicle with any rubber in the fuel system. Ethanol will dissolve and swell rubber that is not intended for use in alcohol. It will also pick up a lot of debris in the tank and likely that age of vehicle there is a lot of debris in the tank.

1-2 gallons should NOT be an issue, but I would NOT run it in my car until I have 100% inspected the entire fuel system, inside the tank and out, and ensure all rubber has been replaced with modern rubbers.

One time, probably ok, but definitely not consistently.

Is it safe to fly with a fever?

You would be exposing everyone else and many people don't like that. Airlines tend to get a little unhappy with it as well. However, a fever is the body's state of adaptation for an infection, whether it be viral or bacterial. The body knows that the infecting agents cannot survive in an environment of elevated heat, so it begins to raise the body's temperature in an attempt to "burn the sickness out." This can be done on the ground, or at high altitudes, so it is safe to fly with a fever if you feel up to it. The below explaination is for those who don't understand the nature of sickness, and how others are affected by it. A common misnomer is that if you are sick with a fever, you are contagious with some kind of "bug" or "germ" because you "caught it." This is absolutely false. If this were the case, then every time a sick child would go to school, the entire class, without fail, would fall victim to the same unfortunate sickness. Once each child goes home, he then infects his entire household. On and on we go. You are sick because your body's immune system was not able to fully defend itself against that particular "germ" at THAT PARTICULAR TIME. The truth of the matter is that we are constantly exposed to the same "germs" day in and day out. The infectious agent that you are sick with now may be an infectious agent that you've been walking around with for the last three years. We become affected by these agents, when our immune system weakens its defenses to the extend that it can't overpower the agent's influence. If anyone on the airline is immuno-compromised, then they'll be more apt to get sick from ANY bacteria or virus that they come into contact with. This means they can get sick from a "bug" that they received from someone who was HEALTHY.
