On my 97, I had to take the inside trunk cover off. It's held on by plastic buttons.
Remove all buttons, you can get a fork tool at any parts store. They pry out. You will use these to reassemble save. Remove the cover boxes for the turn signal lights. Remove pull strap.

Once you have the cover off, there are holes in the trunk, look for long threaded small bolts, they will line up with the light assembly. Im not sure what size the nuts are, but a deep well socket works best to remove all the nuts. The light may require a bit of persuasion to get out. Remove light, find power plug, carefully disconnect, take note of how power plug comes out. Once light is out, clean the dirt away from where it was seated.

I unplugged the old light and tested the new one before I took it out.

Install new light. Make sure you have it right side up. Thread nuts on by hand if possible, then use ratchet. Careful not to over tighten. When putting the plastic buttons back in, start them with your thumb, then I used a rubber mallet to seat them back in.

It's not very hard to do. When removing the nuts, be careful not to drop them. It's almost impossible to get em out of the trunk recesses.
Time needed is maybe 1 hour.

Tools: small ratchet, 6 or 7 mm deep well socket, fork tool. I used the one I bought, then returned it after I finished. Just tell em you didn't need it.

I don't think so. Mine only holds just over 12 gallons. In fact that is one of the original complaints that reviews gave the Catera, too small of a gas tank.

So far no one answers this question because you can't explain the steps in one page. If you want to do it by yourself, buy the service manual. Or have a mechanic to do the job.

it is located under the engine It is located on the driver side of the car, in the engine block, Lift the car and safely support the vehicle. Slide under the car behind the driver side wheel. You can see it with 1 mounting bolt, its located near the base of the engine block next to the oil filter. It is very difficult to remove because the wire runs so tightly between the exhaust pipe.

The fuse is second from left in fuse bank under panel under steering wheel. There's also a fog lamp realy I bougth from NAPA but haven't yet found (it's not shown in owner's manual.) I've also read the muti-function relay way up under dash by drivers side far left air vent, may have somethiing to do with fog lights.

The thermostat is under the fuel injection which needed to come out. I also have the intake out and still haven't figured how to get to the thermostat. your in the right track you also have to take the fuel rail and the lower intake off then you also have to take the timing cover and the camshaft sprokets of to get to the rear timing cover take the rear timing cover off then you will see the thermostat housing sitting right on top the block between both cylinder heads

No the cts- v has a six lug rim.

There is no dipstick to check the transmission fluid on a 1998 Cadillac Catera. It can be checked by opening the fill plug on the side of the transmission. If you are at that point you might as well change the fluid if you have over 70000 miles.

I had the same problem with my 98 cadillac catera. I was told to manually open the door with the key and it should should off. Mine works on occasion. So when you go to open your door and the alarm goes off shut the door lock it and then unlock it manually again.

the fuel pump relay goes in the motor comartment fuse block located next to the batery, the relay #20 should be, or in other words, most of the time you find 2 purple relays, one on the left is the main relay, the one in the right is the fuel pump relay ( from the driver side point of wiew facing the motor), you can pry it open and make the pwer contact manually and disconnect the filter and see if you have gas coming from the gas line. that will make a quick diagnose,ha ha ha ha. The oil pressure light is on due to the fact that there is no pressure from the oil, fill it up, and if that does not fix it, check for faulty wiring. P.S. There is no such thing as "Blinker Fluid."

it's under the steering wheel, just push the button under your steering wheel , and you'll see your fuse center ,about 20 fuses with different forms.

We have been working on the headlights on my 1997 Cadillac Catera for about 3 weeks. They have not been right for about a year and we finally decided to take them apart and fix them. Bad idea! Even repalcing them has become a nightmare, as we can not find used ones that do not have broken adjusters, so we decided on JB Weld.....the assembly crumbled!

If it is in your budget, it may save you weeks of headaches to just go to Cadillac .com and order new ones, but be prepared to pay up to five hundred for a set. The Cadillac Corp. has, in the past, been very helpful in trouble shooting.

I love my Catera, but am not happy about this headlight problem. I wish you luck!

If your not starting in low gear check the little snow flake button next to the gear shift. If this has been pressed your starting in 3 rd. gear.

There is a basin underneath the plastic cover where the wipers are. It is on the passenger side. At the bottom of the basin, there is a hole that can easily get clogged with leaves. This basin will fill up and pour through your vent system and fill your passenger floor. All you have to do is remove the black cover and remove the debris..

You have to remove the center vent, where a screw is located holding part of the instrument cluster in. The procedure is not complicate but describing how to do it is. The other screws are in sight, and the steering column cover has to be removed as well. Once you get the cluster out replace all the lights, because if one has gone out, others are not far behind.

It's below the left end of the dashboard, but you have to remove the knee board (the padded curved panel under the left side of the gauge cluster) first for access to the fuse box. Once the plastic clips at the bottom corners of the knee board have been loosened with a short big bladed screwdriver, use your palms to lift both ends of the knee board near its top to release the blind studs behind its upper corners that line up with slotted holes. (Reverse the process when reinstalling the knee board making sure the studs have seated in the slots before retightening the plastic clips at the same time you hold the board firmly up against the bottom of the dashboard). Now, this is important: You cannot rely on the diagram in the owners manual (page 6-57) or the labels on the fuse box to know which fuse controls which circuit -- but you can rely on the ampere values for the fuses. (It's more complicated and some circuits use non-standard fuses). If a fuse is burnt out, you'll have to find it by trial and error moderated with a little educated guessing. If you're attempting to perform a repair that has not blown a fuse, you're outta luck unless there is an electrical test you can perform.
